Funny enough I’ve just taken delivery of an epoxy kit to try and do something very similar to this. I picked up some good tips, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome topic. Nice to find some good content here on UA-cam!
Thanks for checking it out! Love your stuff too!
Thanks for a very helpful video again! I’m going to try this for the windows in my daughters-in-law’s dollhouse church!
I bet that will look great!
Nice job. Neat idea.
Thanks, it was fun to play with the idea.
Beautiful for your first go ❤❤❤❤
Thanks!
That's so awesome! I do a lot of miniatures with my diode laser and I would love to try that out. Very nostalgic too! I like the idea of the tape that you used. It looks like it would hold the resin in from leaking... thank you!
The tape does work well to hold in the epoxy resin. It's often used on live edge epoxy tables to keep it from leaking through the bottom or on the edges of the forms. This would be great to helping you with the miniature work!
Great idea, those look really nice!
Thanks! Other than waiting for the epoxy to fully cure, it was a fun project and fairly easy to create!
Thanks for the video. I have been thinking about doing something like this for earrings.
I bet that would work well for some cool earrings, you could even add some glitter or mica powder to add some shine and sparkle.
Those look like fun!
Thanks Ryan! It was fun once I saw that the epoxy was not going to leak out! 😁
Turned out great! Thanks for the tips!
It was a fun project to make!
Gran bel laser e gran bel video complimenti!! Ciao dal Italia!
Beautiful!
It was fun to make!
They turned out very nice, I usually overdo the colour and lose translucency. I tried the real stained glass before I bought my laser, my hands could not handle the cutting, foiling and etc.
I was afraid I'd add too much tint, but just a few drops at a time and I think I got some decent color but still translucent to let the light through. I can't imagine cutting out all the parts for real stained glass.
Adding some mica powder can add some extra color and shine.
I did pick up some powder colors for a future project too! Looking forward to trying that out on some cnc carvings.
Thanks, This is something I have been wanting to try. I have done a little bit of research on the UV set epoxy. Any thoughts?
I have not tried UV resin but seeing as these are thin and translucent, it should allow the UV light to cure all the way through!
Very Cool project, those turned out great. What is the working time on that epoxy? (Sorry if you said that and I missed it)
Depending on the amount mixed and the temp of your shop you get about 30-40 minutes to work with this before it starts to gel up. My shop was a little cooler here in the winter so I think I had a bit longer of working time. After 12 hours I was still able to press a small divot into the surface of the test cups but after about 24 hours it was cured to where I could handle it and not risk damaging the surface.
Great idea I'm going to try this. Is the tape you used in your Amazon store or where can it be purchased. Link for tape please.😊
Yes it is on Amazon. I'll add that to the description but here it is as well. Thanks for checking it out! amzn.to/400ywjf
how long does it take to cut out something like that on the S1 40w? I am upgrading my 10w hopefully next month to the 40.
Could resin be used?
I have not worked with a UV cure resin, but I don't see why not as they are not too thick and as long as you keep it translucent the UV lights should cure the resin.
