Whatever's going on in the world, nothing helps me relax more than sitting back on the porch, picking some slow, meandering blues. One of my favorite guitars to take outside & kick back with is my new P20E Parlor guitar from @prsguitars It's got that down-home bluesy tone, and is compact enough to be comfortable anywhere.

My depression just turned into gentle acceptance.
Yes
Wow. Beautifully said 😍
Yes, perfectly said. Something about the consistency of his tempo and soft deviations to his accent notes really can penetrate deep into one’s soul!! :)
Well get over yourself
My stays the same
I learned the Em chord today. Tomorrow, this.
@Kaushik Kurudi just learned stairway. Been practicing non-stop for in all the guitar stores.
@@Airborne_Arty82 Been playing for years. The magic is not what chords the man can play! Justin Johnson has the fingers of a neuro surgeon!
@@Airborne_Arty82 ...LOL!
Hahaha...I hear you, now that I have B7 down I should be ready to tour Monday at the latest.
@@Johnnywhamo that one was a bitch but now my left hand will never forget it as long as I live. I just tried to do an air b7 and realised it's like you're flipping the bird with arthritis.
There isn't a problem in the world that I can't let go of for a while just sitting on the porch with my guitar. The huge difference being, I don't sound anywhere near this good. That little PRS really sings for you. Thanks for the escape.
So true...thx for open another world. At least for a short while. ❤
why tf is there smoke in my room now
The thing I love about this channel is the breadth of experience that you can cull from it. If you just look at this video, you fall into the typical youtube keyboard warrior trap: if I had an elite PRS guitar, the right amp, and all those pedals...then I could be a tone-master blues guru. But if you've followed this channel for any length to time, you know Justin could do the same with some string taped over a toilet seat.
100% agreed
I get what you are saying, but isn't this a PRS SE anyway? It sounds great and obviously he is killing it (like he does any other thing with strings), but I wouldn't really call this an elite guitar. Also I don't see anyone saying they could do this. It looks to me like it is 100% praise and appreciation. So I'm just curious -- why bring the negativity?
I don't think there's many serious guitar players saying that lol not the ones playing long enough to understand where the tone master blues guru sound comes from anyway.
You all are taking what I said a bit too seriously. I wasn't addressing anyone or anything specifically. I just meant that when you browse youtube for stringed instrument videos--whether it is guitar, or ukulele, or mandolin--gear is often highlighted. However, when you watch videos published by people like Justin or Jack Broadbent, you become aware that the gear is an afterthought and not essential.
@@DrRonaldSIpock 100% agreed
Coming from a 43 year old man that has played the blues for 35 years. This is my favorite blues artist alive. For what its worth I'd love to have a session with Justin as would so many I'm sure
I dont have Facebook unfortunately
Good Lordy Lordy we have some blues here
Snap…35 years too,& would love to jam with him
I'm right there with ya, man. I'm 51, and started learnin' them blues at 13. I fail at solo, but I can lay down some real feels, when it comes to rythym and back up vocals. A night, jammin' out with Justin, would be a wholesome memory to take to my grave! 👍👍👍
My daughter just passed away 4 days ago and the good lord put ur music in my path and u somehow played my broken heart through ur guitar thanks for ur ability to help me without knowing it god bless

And now PRS should pay you for the best ad they're ever likely to get for this guitar.
I’m going to buy one now.
It's Friday tomorrow, and I've been dragging myself through a particularly bad week . I'm going to pour myself a glass of something nice and kick back with this playing in the background. Thank you Justin!

BB the King once said "It's hard to bend them 'coustic strings."
You just have to develop the kung fu grip. I bend mine up all the time
He also said to Stevie Ray Vaughn (and rightly so)... You pretty good, but if you listen to the king, you can be really good.
How lucky am I to be alive in a time when I’m given the opportunity to watch a modern master of guitar play close up. View his fingerings, techniques and listen to incredible instruments thru top of the line audio equipment. How much would it be worth to go back in time and be afforded the chance to sit this close to Son House or Robert Johnson. This old dying gray beard has listened to a lot of em come and go, and you young fella are as good as they come. BRAVO Thanks for being you and letting me watch.
His performance amazed me too. Thank you friend for the good review.
"dying gray beard" - I can only assume you are referring to the color of your beard. Being um later in life myself, I certainly agree with your assessment of Justin's playing.
Lindsey, the very very best technical guitarists are alive right now! Justin is a rarity because he’s got soul - so many don’t. It’s the “Gilmore syndrome “. Dave wasn’t a shredder or technical master - but he was one of the best ever!
I see a lot of technical prowess, but not a lot of soul, these days. Just say’n, one dying grey beard to another - lol!
Peace
I am always seeing people praising this guy and honestly he is not that great of a player, his vibrato is very amateurish and playing in general is very amateurish idk why people think he’s so great, I guess it really boils down to the fact that there are no actual real guitar players left so they cling to someone who is mediocre at best, sad state we’re in
What a wonderful response Lindsay, we are very Lucky in this Modern World, despite some inconveniences occasionally.
It isn't about whether you can you can "Play" the blues..it's whether you can "FEEL" the blues...and this man clearly possesses the latter ability. ;) great playing, def subbed.
Can’t it be both?
The sound of the wind and the cicada with your playing makes this so atmospheric and therapeutic man... I absolutely love this. GOD FUCKING BLESS YOU MAN.
it,s a water sprinkler :P
I thought it was cicadas too. But with it slowly coming back and slowly going out. I think you may be right. Around my house cicadas don't stop and start back like that. Plus they only talk at night.
I don’t care what it is .... it is amazing!
@@RENEDU2 I thought it was rattlesnakes..well let's face it Justin's guitar playing could tame them probably anyways
One less word would be wise because
the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge:
I am 71 years old and have listened to many, many different “blues guitarist/ artists ” over my lifetime. Justin Johnson is absolutely at the top of this list!
He is a “master craftsman“ and plays the guitar so effortlessly it just seems to be part of him. I guess that it is more than apparent that it part of his heart and soul....keep up the good work!👏👍❤️
Frank Carrio That is almost word for word what I was going to say. The only difference is that I am 72.
Totally agree...& we've seen many . Justin seems to be the new wave of dedicated musicians that can play any style & genre !
Love the guys sounds...
I love and have supported Justin's projects from the beginning. Love his command, but Billy Strings is the king of the fret board right now. Justin just may agree. Kids bad ass just like Justin.
@@michaelgoble8200 DITTO! I'm 66.
How can you say that? Blues is vocals first. This guy is so far off from the blues it’s sad. Zero feeling
I built my own 3 stringed cigar box guitar, started playing slide, and continued to study the blues and playing it with my acoustic. You are such an inspiration!
Wonderful!! The Cicadas in the background just add "atmosphere".
JJ hi again from Afghanistan WOW WOW AND WOW !! A free concert for us over here again THE TROOPS SAY THANK YOU THANK YOU A TOUCH OF HOME !!!!!! WE APPRECIATE YOU SIR !!

shit that was funny dude
Definitely going to try that!
If only my hubby knew what this music does for me...maybe he'd turn off the tv, or let me turn this guy on in our room!...amazing idea!
Another outstanding performance Justin. You never cease to amaze me with your guitar prowess. You keep playing and I'll keep listening 🎧. I guess that for blues, you want a brighter sound. I've learned so much about guitars and technique from watching your videos.
Every time I watch this guy from the first camera angle without knowing the channel, I’m like this girls going in. Then it pans out and I’m like wait.
And to get the locusts (cicadas) to contribute-wow just wow
They were almost acting like a flanger.
G Demolished or a reverse tape echo
You’re hearing a rich contextualised sonic tapestry. Magic innit.
Being a city boy from Boston, I thought it was rattlers .... HAHA. Thanks Justin.
The cicadas in the background are a part of this music, just listen....
When things are looking scary in the world, you give us the sweet sound of blues and it makes everything feel so much better. Thank you for these wonderful musical interludes.
Yes!
If you learn anything from all his Video's it's that its NOT the Guitar but the Hands playing it that matters !
I bet Justin gets invited to a lot of parties..."oh yeah, by the way, feel free to bring your guitar(s)!"
I do declare, that’s the best acoustic version of Slow Train I’ve heard yet, thank you!
The background sounds fit perfectly with the mood.

If there is a better exponent of the magic art of blues/roots guitar I'd like to know who it is. It's not just the fingers it's the soul they convey that's unparalleled.
Your ability to keep the bass line going at a different tempo than the melody is the mark of a true musician! That's awesome. Thanks for putting this up. i'm in.
As someone a few months into learning fingerstlye I have a new appreciation for this right here. He makes it look so easy.
It’s the same tempo, just different application. Bass may be whole notes where the other parts are 1/4 or 1/8 and so on. Regardless he’s very good.
@@Nick-jr6qe You're right. It is the same tempo. Just a different duration based on note duration.
Perfect music as I am on my porch on a lazy afternoon brushing my sister in law's service dog.

The cicadas just make the music better, they add a background that’s just unreal

Something great about the internet is that it's way easier to learn instruments now. I always say I would have wanted to be born in the 50's, but man I am lucky to have videos like this to learn from.
You used to genuinely have a mentor for everything. A trade, an instrument, or get your hands on expensive books. The internet is truly a blessing for all that want to achieve that knowledge. Honestly, on that part of the spectrum, it's a beautiful thing. I was born in 94, and was blessed by the web to learn an instrument. I'm really grateful.
Awesome as always, Justin. Love your pure childlike enthusiasm when reviewing a new guitar...be it a CBG or a $16K French high tech custom. Thanks for sharing your love of music with us...no matter from which instrument it emanates. You are the pandemic quarantine antidote! 🎩
