Thanks Nick. I wrote a song with these same chords and have a bunch of lead licks. Very cool to play all those lead parts in a totally different style and see that they all work. Keeps things from getting stale.

The keys that can hold both those three chords are either A major or its relative F# minor.

Nick Neblo of course sorry for dumb question. key of A straightforward IV I V progression. Wasn’t thinking.straight. But I played Am/Cmaj scale over progression and somehow it fit (?) but sound was not pentatonic F#m or even Amaj. just curious why Cmaj scale worked? Thanks for your time bro

@@Agione82 Maybe because A minor pentatonic can sometimes be played over blues major progression, giving it that bluesy effect, considering this is D A E and the electric guitars have no third and the acoustic uses some sus chords it makes sense to feel it as A minor.

That might work if you use E minor pentatonic, though strictly speaking it should be an A major scale. Keep experimenting!

Thank you for your comment! Unfortunately UA-cam new regulations from 25 Feb 2019 do not allow creators to upload still images with music anymore. I'll have to change format or my channel will be penalised. I'm so sorry. I will upload backing tracks but less regularly otherwise my channel risks closure. Sorry about this.
