Ms. Mojo: "One could only imagine the comedic brilliance Carrey could've brought as a regular cast member." Me: "We don't have to imagine. We've seen it on In Living Color."
Honestly, he would've taken over the show. Maybe that was Lorne's fear, that it would turn into the Watch Jim Carrey show. Which I get. Dude is too good. In Loving Color gave him a sort of outsider's role that worked perfectly to stop him from being the main course the whole time.
Im only a 3rd of the way through this video so she may not even be on this list, but when Billie Eilish hosted, her comedic chemistry with Kate McKinnon was amazing...who knew she was so funny...
I ate a bunch of mushrooms and watched the most recent Ryan Gosling episode. I've never laughed so gd hard in my entire life. As someone who was a teenager when Beavis and Butthead premiered, that sketch KILLED ME, and Heidi Gardner breaking harder than I've ever seen a cast member break damn-near made me pee myself. No exaggeration---I watched that, and the alien abduction cold open probably 20 times apiece, laughing harder and harder with every single viewing.
Jonah Hill was also really funny. His sketch with Leonardo Dicaprio holding him from behind, like Rose and Jack in Titanic, was really humble and sweet. I don't watch that many SNL sketches, beceause it never aired on Dutch television. But it's a funny show and really iconic. So if I watch a clip from SNL I think it's most of the time really great written
How is it possible that John Mulaney is at #16? He is an SNL treasure and has lifted up every single show he’s hosted. Indeed, he’s done the remarkable task of making his shows basically fantastic from start to finish each time which (and I don’t mean this in a cruel way) just isn’t the norm for SNL for the full 90 minutes. I’m waiting to see who comes after him but it seems like a bit of a slap in the face so I hope there are seriously 15 ppl I would place ahead of him on this list. I highly doubt it, tho, as I would have placed Eddie Murphy above him just out of respect … so we’ll see … 😮 Edit: okay, so there were two spots that were iffy but otherwise I take this back bc they did indeed have 15 superstars below Mulaney. I’m not saying I personally think they’re all better but I wouldn’t say anything about the order of the stars named. It was an excellent list!! 😂🤣
Jim Carrey will always be my favorite host. SNL is LUCKY to have him each time, yet they rejected him early on and he had to be discovered doing In Living Color instead of SNL. Their loss… ;)
That Jim Carrey was in this list and his best SNL hosting wasn't even in this century (1995) shows that he's definitely one of the best in SNL history.
I had never heard of Phoebe Waller Bridge before seeing her on SNL. I was delighted by her performance, but, honestly, I am not used to seeing hosts look so, I don't know, average. Usually they are much more beautiful. Like Anya Taylor-Joy, for example, or Scarlett Johansson. Bridge is very pretty, but in a girl-next-door kind of way. That is, until the Mid Day News sketch. The outfit, the wig, the earrings ... oh my! That was awesome.
Am I the only one who liked Jon Bon Jovi as a host ? The opening sketch was really good and I also loved the sketch on how they got the name of the band
Comedy should have no boundaries. I have no problem with outlets giving Trump shit. I just find it ironic that Joetato is off limits. Stay woke, you Canadian heroes!
@watchmojo I can't believe in the Paul Rudd portion you have the cojones to mention him and One Direction and not mention his INFAMOUS DAN CHARLES character!!!! I'm actually pissed about that! Seriously.....
It is Bar-GAT-zee and Ryan Gosling was way better than where you had him and his most recent hosting was even better than his previous times. Zack Galifi-WHATEVER wasn't that good and LOUIS CK should have been top three easy but MOJO is chicken shee and didn't even list him. Hanks is solid, Eddie wasn't that good at all, neither was Chappelle.
You know what I want to hear? Some idiot talking about famout SNL sketches, and not the actual sketches. That's why I love this. Don't make fun of me for watching all of this garbage fire content before I finished, because I stopped short of a minute. Not all of your stuff is garbage, but this video is.
gonna have to veto Chance and whoever that lady is on Fleabag. a host has to be able to envelop their characters, have memorable sketches, and/or be just as funny or more funny than their castmates. otherwise they are just glorified extras in sketches like these 2 basically were.
Actually not a bad list at all. Tom is amazing but his legacy on SNL is literally "guy in the pumpkin suit". I know it is just guests hosting, so perhaps P DIDDY, as apparently he has all the resources required to win everything. Would of loved to see Norm on there. ❤ Edit: I'm just angry people literally said they saw P Diddler entering the Miami airport and nobody (authorities) did a gid damn thing

Keanu Reeves
Maybe this is cheating but Conan O'brien?

Katt Williams,, jaguar wright,
Ms. Mojo: "One could only imagine the comedic brilliance Carrey could've brought as a regular cast member."
Me: "We don't have to imagine. We've seen it on In Living Color."
I was thinking that exact thing.
Honestly, he would've taken over the show. Maybe that was Lorne's fear, that it would turn into the Watch Jim Carrey show. Which I get. Dude is too good. In Loving Color gave him a sort of outsider's role that worked perfectly to stop him from being the main course the whole time.
Dude, I lost it when Jim Carrey says his signature “Loser!” line in that Presidential skit. XD
Nate 0:50 def delivered in the washington sketch. That was fantasticly wrotten and performed along w lake beach
RIP Betty White 🕊️
Eddie Murphy’s return in 2019 was one of the funniest episodes, start to finish, of all time.😂
I love the Hosts of SNL
Miss you much, Betty White, you are still loved and always will be a legend of SNL
AMEN!!
If Christopher Walken releases his own brand of alcohol I'd buy it, no joke. The guy is a Legend.
This was brilliant! Though hard to rank all 20 hosts, the full recollection hits the spot! ;)
I never thought Tom Hamm would be so funny! His acting on Madmen was so great at making him seem like a really serious guy!
You mean John Hamm? He was great in "Tag" and "Fletch".
@@joelwillems4081 -- I think you BOTH mean... *JON HAMM.
Love that a picture of Maria was included ❤❤❤
Everyone on here is hilarious especially Jim Carrey, Tom Hanks Eddie Murphy The Rock & Christopher Walken 😂
Im only a 3rd of the way through this video so she may not even be on this list, but when Billie Eilish hosted, her comedic chemistry with Kate McKinnon was amazing...who knew she was so funny...

I think watch mojo thinks we might not make it past this election year lol
I would kill to see Wanda Sykes host Saturday night live LMAO.
Enjoyable walk down memory lane. I would add Rami Malik.
I only came here to see if Timberlake was in the top 5 as he should be! Great list so far! R.I.P. Betty White 🤍🕊️🙏🏽
Same here! When he's on screen with Jimmy Fallon, it's always hilarious!
@@jaimeparquette7885 Yes! I miss those two on SNL. Their chemistry is unparalleled.

Christopher Walken, Tina Fey and Steve Martin are the best.
*Tom Hanks is so funny when it comes to hosting SNL. The David ass pumpkin skits are iconic of course.*
That’s not the name
He was hilarious on black jeopardy.
But they're terrible? Like, not funny at all
@@markalexander3659 ya but they were worth a watch. They were necessary Halloween good times
He was probably real relaxed after all those trips to Epstein Island. Just a silly guy, ready to spread cheer!
I just love this show.
A lot of great hosts on this list!! I’m currently watching the candle skit with Emma Stone. Still cracks me the hell up lmao!
You all Kidding??? The best host by far is ADAM DRIVER.
LMAO hilarious
Love the Undercover Boss sketch.
Agreed💯
Gossling, Breaker High. Teen comedy. the man STARTED there, in comedy
We'll always remember Betty White as Lee "blaahhrrfengharrfff" Smith "Blaahhrrfengharrfff"
Jim Carrey is the funniest host of SNL. 🎉
Need a campaign for Carol Burnett to host SNL!

Dave Chappelle is one my favorites especially when he hosted after the election.
@watchmojo One video chapter title says "Bill Maher" but it's actually for Bill Hader.
I had never heard of Phoebe Waller Bridge before seeing her on SNL. I was delighted by her performance, but, honestly, I am not used to seeing hosts look so, I don't know, average. I think RuPaul is really underrated. Especially the "reading books in the library" one. Makes me howlll.
Mmmm. Give me Jon Hamm on rye, and hold the mayo!
Am I the only one who liked Jon Bon Jovi as a host ?
The opening sketch was really good and I also loved the sketch on how they got the name of the band
I need Ryan Reynolds, zendaya and tom Holland to host snl
Ryan Reynolds had done it.
I want zendaya to host snl Sooooo bad!
Chappelle's sketch on retiring problematic brand name characters was hilarious. 😅
Alec Baldwin as trump was classic!!
It's amazing that SNl lasted as long as it did, after turning away so much great talent. Way to go LM! BTW, You're lucky Dave Chappelle did your show.
13 times hosting should make it a common law job.
i’m guessing we can expect dave chapelle to be hosting next fall
Gosling probably would have jumped a few spots after “Beavis & Butthead” got released.
Tom hanks is My favorite 😂😂😂😂
Super!
Despite the scandal surrounding him at some point, Louis c.k.'s stand ups were absolutely hilarious- and he should be on this list.
Leon Draisaitl, I think he is one of those odd pro athletes that can pull it off by becoming one of those surprisingly good SNL hosts.
there should be Michael Keaton
Everything Pedro Pascal does makes my gen-z gay heart swoon
I forgot that was Ryan Gosling in Lars and the real girl. I liked that movie.
I wish the old cast would come back but I understand why they left
It’s in season 49, which old cast members are you talking about😊
I really miss Cecily and Kate especially
I love Emma Stone! She's the best!
Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader back to back in the rankings - a coincidence?
I DON'T THINK SO.
No you would not know it is Adam Driver in the old man career day sketch considering it looks exactly like Adam Driver. This list is way out of order.
Agreed. And it was not even a funny sketch at all. I suggested switch him out for Matt Damon because he was hilarious when he hosted.
Comedy should have no boundaries. I have no problem with outlets giving Trump shit. I just find it ironic that Joetato is off limits. Stay woke, you Canadian heroes!
Agree, we should laugh at all politicians. You can like them and still mock them.
You have Dave Chapelle as #7??? No one else is a news story when they host... I'm just saying
Charles Barkley doing Shaq. Need I say more?
I totally forgot about Charles Barkley. He should be way up there like about number four.
Timberlake? 😯
Pedro Pascal AND Betty White should be MUCH higher on this list.
I know one thing Phoebe waller bridge can't do, make a good Indiana Jones movie
Natalie Portman needs a record deal yesterday!
Jim Carrey will always be number one host for me ❤
Hello good afternoon 😮😮😮😮
Weird Al should host AND be the musical guest
Tiny correction: Mulaney has hosted 5 times, not 4.
tf, they are doing "top 30" now?
how about "top 100M"
too long didn't watch :P
@watchmojo I can't believe in the Paul Rudd portion you have the cojones to mention him and One Direction and not mention his INFAMOUS DAN CHARLES character!!!!
I'm actually pissed about that! Seriously.....
No norm MacDonald. Then it’s a list that is irrelevant. His monologue was legendary
what about Jason Momoa? He was pretty good as a SNL host
Tina Fey is great, but is no Christopher Walken
Mulaney has hosted 5 times
No world where Temberlake is in the top 5.
It is Bar-GAT-zee and Ryan Gosling was way better than where you had him and his most recent hosting was even better than his previous times. century is from 1900 till 2000 now is new and we are in year 24 how 30 best of century?
Rip Betty white🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️
Two words: Paul Simon
You’re out of your mind.
And why that little host would knowing provoke a former NFL player that could eat him alive I can't figure why he would wanna get decimated like that
Paul Rudd as Dan Charles is hilarious
Bad Bunny hosted as well
you lost me with Justin T. being that high, did they pay y'all lol
Dave at 7? I wonder why
Larry David, blows them all off the screen.
Thanks though🙂
Emma Thompson
Let Kevin Hart host one
For the love of god, no.
He’s hosted three times
You know what I want to hear? Some idiot talking about famout SNL sketches, and not the actual sketches. That's why I love this.
Don't make fun of me for watching all of this garbage fire content before I finished, because I stopped short of a minute.
Not all of your stuff is garbage, but this video is.
I'm not seeing Kevin Hart. Kevin's episodes were hilarious.
Jeremy Allen White
Lol the description on the time bar saying bill maher instead of bill hader made me reel. I was like there's no way they let someone so unfunny host
I'd love to see Sarah Paulson host; she'd be iconic. And they definitely need to have Nicola Coughlan host one day.
Do another version of this video from 1975 through today and everyone on this list will be bumped off the list.
ignore this. 9:16
John balushi
Something Phoebe Waller Bridge cannot do ? Perhaps act and be good in Indy 5 ?
I don't think "ripe" is the correct descriptor for the age of 7.
r/whoooooosh
Shane gillis
