As an owner of this Magic Trackpad for almost 8 years, I'd like to share 2 "magic" tips with you. Tip #1 Keep track on your rubber-buttons on the back. They will eventually fall off. Then you need to glue them back on. So keep a good eye on the small rubberbuttons. One day you will push your index-finger down on the trackpad and hear a strange sound. That's when you need to look on the floor for the small rubber-button that has probably fallen off. Tip #2: The day will come, when your magic trackpad will loose contact and the green light is gone. You change batteries but nothing happens. Try to use your finger to turn the on/off button clockwise. It is not enough to tighten the battery-tube on the left side. My experience is, that the Apple supporters not always know these mechanical issues.
Best thing about this trackpad (for me) is that the design pretty much confirms that they will be sticking with the existing wireless keyboard design for while. Thanks for the vid!
I just opened a brand new box this evening (12/06/2019) and the Energizer advanced pile alkaline AA batteries are still at 100% charge. Crazy shelf life!
If I didn't play games I'd buy one for sure. Does syncing it unsync your mouse over bluetooth, or are you able to have a mouse and the track pad synced at once?
can u demonstrate the trackpad using an application like brushes or gimp, i am very curious to see if this will allow u to use it as a tablet , thnx gr8t videos, im a fan
wow this video is the best one I have seen for the trackpad. I am now going to get one with my mac mini along with the wireless keyboard. I will use my normal wireless mouse for gaming for cod and such.
If you own an iMac then you really should invest in a magic trackpad as they are worth absolutely every penny. The wireless mouse is also very good but the trackpad adds so much more with the gestures etc
I just purchased both the magic track pad and wireless keyboard made by Apple from Bestbuy and it does cost a pretty penny, but if you use it often it gains its worth. Both work perfectly fine and i am running both on my MacBook Air (newest model). The magic trackpad works beautifully, however it somewhat requires a hard surface to make an actual click, but if you're the person who doesn't mind the tapping, by all means. Todays date: 7-22-14
unfortunately no. there is a logictech version but im afraid thats also for mac. mac os has so many gesture optimization. if windows 8 implements some of that, im sure manufacturers will make one for windows
This is just my opinion the track pad is not a replacement mouse it just enhances the magic mouse by the gestures the magic mouse lacks and scrolling but it's a awesome device i have both.
great vid i bet if apple cold be bothered they could possibly make some software that allows the trackpad to be used as a graphics tablet because it is so big this would be awesome!
I know you said that the trackpad only worked with specific applications but does it work with chrome because I don't really like safari. Thanks in advance!
That's a bad ass device. I love it when I play with the trackpad with the 27 inch iMac at the Apple store. It feels like you're using a 27 inch laptop and not a desktop, lol.
I just ordered one, used from Amazon and so expensive even for a 10 year old device! It's a refurb which probably costed more than when it first retailed! Thought it would be nice to have one to go with the refurb 10 year old keyboard.
Another great video. Thorough and well done. My Magic Trackpad should be here Friday. I can't wait. I bought it because I don't have too much mouse room on my desk (I get by, but it's a little cramped), and I don't use a magic mouse because I have a glass desk and hate mousepads. So I'm gonna ditch my Logitech Performance MX for this trackpad and I think it'll be great. It looks super cool next to the Apple wireless keyboard, too.
Jokingly asking, do you think they stick this thing inside the MacBook pros when they make their MacBooks? And do you think they should make one of these built into an apple keyboard?
@MortallicA91 You're better off getting a drawing tablet, this is mainly for mouse operations rather than drawing. That said there are certain styluses that work with capacitive touchscreens (such as the ones found on iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch. They may work on the trackpad, but it will still perform like a mouse.
I can always count on you. Great unboxing & commentary. I want one, I'll use it with my regular mouse & mac mini. Since my macbook white doesn't have a track pad, I've always been curious. This was a great idea for Apple, but I've read where some people think its waste of money, but I think they're factoring in the high price against the product itself. I feel it could have been 20% or 30% cheaper to appeal more. I might wait, I can't sacrifice the money for the track pad at this time.
Take a look also at the new (announced December 2012) Leap Motion. It's like a kinect: you don't touch anything, just gesture over the little gizmo which is about the same price as the MT. I haven't bought it yet: trying to decide between these two possible ways to control audio tracks for editing. Like others, I am fed up with Magic Mouse dropouts and battery-charging.
the other day when i bought my new imac the bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse came already paired with the iMac. I was surprised to see it came with wireless and it was already paired.
@jtwith In theory it is possible. All you need is a cursor and you can point and click. Although for me, I'd only do that if I had my iPad connected to my tv.
hopefully getting the new imac when i sell my house this year, and thinking of getting this aswell as the magic mouse but still not sure if its worth it..
can you email me the answer to the question I'm about to ask? i am a new user to youtube and i also enjoy to make unboxing video especially because of the fact that i have a lot to unbox because i get something new every two-three weeks and i notices that my video quality is terrible and i would like to know what type of camera you are using in all of these wonderful video?
@DetroitBORG Thanks for the video! :) What are the options for three fingers? Do you know if you can make it application specific? (eg. Navigation in safari and drag in all other apps?) otherwise, how do you drag? And do you prefer this or the magic mouse? Cheers.
How much would it cost to buy the magic trackpad and the wireless keyboard together. I know it says 69.99 each but I know there is tax just wanted an estimate
I think what they should do is re-release the wireless keyboard with the Trackpad integrated on the keyboard. It would be nice to see it in right and left sided configurations as well.
@hermiethehero It connects to the macs bluetooth. As long as your mac has bluetooth, which most do, your fine. you dont need a wireless keyboard, but you will need some form of keyboard and mouse to set it up.
@DetroitBORG yes yes i know that you can use up to 4 fingers ... but for the "normal" use you can only use one finger ... isn't it strenuous after some time?!
you could also use a butter knife to open the battery compartment door :P :D or if you take great care of your finger nails ( long or preferably short in length) you could use your finger nail :P. great clean video and audio on this video btw. cheers
@ArmoredDax As someone with a MacBook Pro who is going to buy an iMac at one point, I will definitely get this, because i'm so familiar with the trackpad.
@DetroitBORG yes yes i know that you can use up to 4 fingers ... but for the "normal" use you can only use one finger ... isn't it strenuous after some time?! ps.: good video :)
I think it would be pretty neat if apple released a wireless keyboard and magic trackpad all in one design so you wouldn't have 2 devices on the desk in addition to selling them separately.
these are the best Apple reviews on the block!

what happens if we lose the rubber buttons?
Diana Rosales I’m sure you could find something to glue on the bottom to raise it so it can click
@@hunterbyrum8415 I've seen them sold on ebay. Not very expensive.
wow, at the moment I think tip #2 is becoming reality
The new one fixed it
Best thing about this trackpad (for me) is that the design pretty much confirms that they will be sticking with the existing wireless keyboard design for while.

THANKSSS a LOT!!!
You make the best unboxings I have EVER seen!
Good tutorial for the setup. i probably couldn't have figured it out myself without it.
"perfectly married" haha, you're the best 'cause you give your opinions about each of the products you get, congratulations.
If I didn't play games I'd buy one for sure. Does syncing it unsync your mouse over bluetooth, or are you able to have a mouse and the track pad synced at once?
hi i love ur review , just expressing a fact, the wireless keyboard is exactly same angle and match exactly perfect
I have it and it is a worthy mouse replacement. It works great for audio/video editing and is extremely responsive. It also looks and feels very cool!
Thank you very much. This is the most detaild video review for Magic Trackpad I ever see. Love it.
dude you really rock the comparison was awesome everyone should post the video like you
excellent demonstration! thank you so much! i couldnt figure out how to enable all of the functions but this was great help!
Are u alive
A very professional presentation. Thank you.
Good video. Nice narration voice. Unboxing bores me too but I just jump ahead to the good stuff.
can u demonstrate the trackpad using an application like brushes or gimp, i am very curious to see if this will allow u to use it as a tablet , thnx gr8t videos, im a fan

This was very helpful, thank you for posting an excellent unbox & demo!
Great review man (: would you recommend it ? Does it like feel better then a mouse ? Is it worth the 70 bucks
If you own an iMac then you really should invest in a magic trackpad as they are worth absolutely every penny.
The wireless mouse is also very good but the trackpad adds so much more with the gestures etc
They might do that, but the force touch technology uses more power than the previous trackpad.
so it has to be physical click to activate the trackpad right? or the clicking sound is just for fun?
Thank you for your explanation, it has helped me a lot.

Great unboxing, always a pleasure to watch your videos man!

I wonder how handy this will be for Protools editing? Might give it a try.
Thanks DB!
great vid i bet if apple cold be bothered they could possibly make some software that allows the trackpad to be used as a graphics tablet because it is so big this would be awesome!
Just bought one these (eBay) for $25. Can’t wait to try it out.
@jack390 You have a mouse and a trackpad at the same time. The trackpad does all the multitouch, where the mouse only does 4 or 5
I just ordered one, used from Amazon and so expensive even for a 10 year old device! It's a refurb which probably costed more than when it first retailed! Thought it would be nice to have one to go with the refurb 10 year old keyboard.
Very useful and professional walkthrough. Thank you!
Wonder if I should get the Magic trackpad, I am starting to hate my Magic mouse and going back to my Apple Wireless Pro Mouse is a no no.
Another great video. Thorough and well done. My Magic Trackpad should be here Friday. I can't wait. They may work on the trackpad, but it will still perform like a mouse.
although I have got MacBook Pro but still I want to use this magic trackpad :D .. looks so neat
It's good if you can do a review on the apple wireless keyboard? Thanks
I can always count on you. Great unboxing & commentary. I want one, I'll use it with my regular mouse & mac mini. Since my macbook white doesn't have a track pad, I've always been curious. I have a mac and when you buy it. It comes with an apple Magic Mouse but you can ask for a switch. I love my Magic Trackpad
@jtwith In theory it is possible. All you need is a cursor and you can point and click. Although for me, I'd only do that if I had my iPad connected to my tv.
i think that you should put a apple sticker on that razor blade since it is like a designated apple opener in all of your videos
hopefully getting the new imac when i sell my house this year, and thinking of getting this aswell as the magic mouse but still not sure if its worth it..
did you sell your house? and do you think your Mac is worth it and are you still using it? lol
@albAX What's wrong with wireless as long as it works?
can you email me the answer to the question I'm about to ask? i am a new user to youtube and i also enjoy to make unboxing video especially because of the fact that i have a lot to unbox because i get something new every two-three weeks and i notices that my video quality is terrible and i would like to know what type of camera you are using in all of these wonderful video?
honestly need this
how is this different from the surface from the magic mouse? is it the same with different area surface or a different function?
@DetroitBORG Thanks for the video! :) What are the options for three fingers? Do you know if you can make it application specific? (eg. Navigation in safari and drag in all other apps?) otherwise, how do you drag?
And do you prefer this or the magic mouse?
Cheers.
this is a great video, can i use it for chinese hand writing input on my macbook pro w/ snow leopard? Thank you,
How much would it cost to buy the magic trackpad and the wireless keyboard together. I know it says 69.99 each but I know there is tax just wanted an estimate
@iCheckVtec I prefer it separate since I don't like apple keyboards (prefer clicky ones).
@gaminandsoccer108 Multitouch only works on macs but it will work for PCs too. It would just be a normal 1 finger trackpad though
NO APPLE STICKERS???!!! Back to Best Buy I go...Thumbs Up for the review!
Mike, can the Magic trackpad be paired with a Macbook Pro and will it need an additional driver?
Very helpful video, thank you !!!!!!
@jack390 If you mean the magic mouse, yes it does but the magic trackpad has many more multitouch features.
good video :)
first i dunno if i buy this or not
isn't it somplicated to use only one finger ...
and ist the mouse coursour fast enough ?! ^^
Super review, thank you, man!
Tomorrow will buy myself the same :)
i am looking forward for my new imac! it will come this week end!
Will the magic trackpad work with any bluetooth equipped notebook, like an Alienware?
@DetroitBORG yes yes i know that you can use up to 4 fingers ... but for the "normal" use you can only use one finger ... isn't it strenuous after some time?!
you could also use a butter knife to open the battery compartment door :P :D or if you take great care of your finger nails ( long or preferably short in length) you could use your finger nail :P. great clean video and audio on this video btw. cheers
@HEKTIKelectroTV You can also use a fingernail, spoon, guitar pick, anything really.
EXCELLENT DEMO!!
oh wow, it release since 2010, i don't even know. I though it was like 2012 or some thing
@ArmoredDax As someone with a MacBook Pro who is going to buy an iMac at one point, I will definitely get this, because i'm so familiar with the trackpad.
Can both a mouse and trackpad be paired with the same Mac and work at the same time?
does the trackpad allow older macbooks (non-multi touch trackpad) to use those mutli touch gestures?
Does it damage the battery compartment when using a coin?
It works well, much like a touch screen, only better, not having to reach up and not pawing your screen.
@DetroitBORG yes yes i know that you can use up to 4 fingers ... but for the "normal" use you can only use one finger ... isn't it strenuous after some time?!
ps.: good video :)
I think it would be pretty neat if apple released a wireless keyboard and magic trackpad all in one design so you wouldn't have 2 devices on the desk in addition to selling them separately.
best idea that needs to happen
Here in 2020 for no reason.. anyone else?
I’m considering getting one for $30.
@HEKTIKelectroTV use ur key... works like a charm
i love your videos
***** Sorry for the dumb question, but how does the magic trackpad work with 3D games? Is it just as good as a mouse?
I agree with this guy^ I'm wanting game a lot on the one I'm getting
It doesn't work. Its the same like playing on trackpad on laptop, only its larger.
+kadliwt and off to the side rather than below the keyboard
i got mine a few days ago I love it i still have my magic mouse to
sweet video, man. i like mine a lot
Great video, very informative thanks.
I am debating whether or not I want to get this. Does anyone see any advantages for this over the magic mouse?
your record this video at night right
Cool. Now if I had a Mac to go with it. Hmmm...maybe
The best review!
can it be used on a computer? like vista or windows 7?
Dude you posted this video one day I was borned.
what do use most for work?
There is one, its on the windows 8 bit of their website
I call it the Tragic MacPad, even though it’s pretty great
awesome review thanks!
There ARE videos that tell you how to use the Magic Trackpad on your Windows computer without Bootcamp. DetroitBorg has such a video.
Is the video ever going to start?
***** Yep, I did! Got a mac mini, the keyboard and trackpad. LOVE it! Will never go back to PC.
@@mrwilliamwonder sorry for reviving an old thread. but can you use an old magictrackpad 1 for the newer macbook pro 2018 ?
Yoga Swara yes, any Mac with Bluetooth should work with it
It properly won't work on a iOS device?
