Great video (as usual), informative and succinct. The part about the Hotspot Portal checkbox in the WiFi section was not clear to me. If you create an Isolation network in the Networks section but do not enable the Hotspot Portal checkbox in the WiFi section, is this still an isolated network (i.e., Guest network) with all of the Guest Network rules? And what is the relationship of the "Hotspot Portal" setting and the landing page? Can you check (enable) the Hotspot Portal without a mandatory landing page?
Can you do a video on configuring Unifi so guests don't get SSL/Certificate errors when first trying to connect to the guest wifi please?

Would love to see a video of the landing page for guest networks. I've tried for over a year to get that to work and even their support can't make it work correctly. Our guest network is free so all they have to agree to the terms and it is supposed to redirect them to another page once they do that but it has never worked and support can't figure out why.

As I have limited access to internet - can you tell me did you show on some video how to limit the data bundle for each guest/or stuff member ? Im in process of setting up network for my crew on board the vessel- but due to limited resources we have to share satelite "data bundles " equaly/honestly. Wrgds and mthks in advance.
Hi I’d like to see how you setup the landing page for guests to put in a password. I have been playing with this at home but all methods seem to show the portal is “not secure” along with the redirection url

I'd really like to see what the default firewall rules for Guest (isolation) are doing. I tried to manually isolate a Vlan and things were not working, which worked when using the baked in isolation. I just want to see what their rules are actually doing. Curious about what is being allowed/disallowed.
Would love the extend guest Hotspots portal
Could be interesting (or maybe silly) to have a video where you have say a 100 ft piece of cat6 and test it at 10Gbit and then see what happens if you introduce various bad practices. For example, a 90+ degree sharp bend, a giant magnet next to it, a 120 line running parallel, crimping staples, etc. Maybe even see if it will work with 8 straight wires at short distance ;)

I created the guest network as described, but I can't connect to it, I don't get an IP address. How to configure the DHCP server? Or on a WAN, only one DHCP server is possible, but then how do I set up the Guest network to get an IP address?

I have a separate VLAN for my Printers, Copiers, and Scanners. How would I create a Firewall rule to allow the Guest VLAN to access this Printer VLAN? Would I do it as a LAN (Lan IN) rule or as a Guest (Guest Local/IN) rule?

Thanks for video, for an IOT network using simple devices like a landscape sprinkler controller (i.e. no gaming, media servers, etc), is there an issue using the Guest network option? seems like you would want internet access for the IOT device but disable access to other VLANs which what the guest network does?

Similar question.. Thanks to you Willie 😊 ... I have setup and been running 2 Guest Networks fine for our small building with 4 apartments, each with a dedicated AP. One Guest Network is designated for users/guests, and the other is an IOT network. I tried setting up a Landing Page awhile back, but had to back it out because it didn't allow my devices on my IOT network to attach. (I couldn't figure out how to only use the Landing Page for the users of our first Guest Network and not the IOT Network.) I would love to use Unifi's Landing Page feature, especially if I can capture things like Name and Email Address of the user/guest, that I could store and access later, for marketing uses, etc. ... Video Idea? 😁
Ah some differences, my version is still 7.2.97. I press the pause button on the wifi tab for the guest network when there are no guests around.

Which version of Unifi provide Guest Isolation at AP level? I would like to havev two SSID one for Staff and 1 for guest. I want the Guest to get DHCP from unifi Guest subnet and the Staff SSID to get IP from defualt network subnet address leased by windows DHCP server. I tried this setup with Unifi LR and it was not possible and i was told this can be done by Unifi Pro is this true ?

would love to use a qr code for my guest network that kicks them off after 24 hours ...people come over ...use guest wifi and the next day I dont have to worry about anyone using my wifi for free ...if they come back over just rescan the code
How do I configure the DHCP server on the guest network? Mine is issuing the default IP ranges and not the guest subnets.
Sounds like you don't have the right network selected for the WiFi network.

@@kristopherleslie8343 Not really interested -- we have such a huge library of configurations we've written there is no need to involve AI. I guess some folks may find it entertaining - I have other uses for AI.

Seems like these videos need updated every couple months, as Ubiquiti s constantly changing things. I have yet to find a guide that is getting an open guest network up and running under 8.1.113

i would love a dedicated video on guest rules because my 15 year old boy uses a vpn to get onto tik tok etc and i have set up his network as a guest but it simply doesnt do what i want , he is a typical idiot who thinks he knows it all but it just knows enough to break things , i kid you not he had 13 viruses on his macbook because he thinks he is a hacker , i tried explaining things to him but the internet is just too powerful these days for mere mortals to fight against , so would love a no nonsense video which explains how to set up a guest network safely
