Now that is super generous of you. Thanks for doing the giveaway. I never did realize the rat 1.5 exists. #EDCGAW My favorite budget carry is Civivi Praxis.
Nice....The Rat 1 started it all for me....400 knives later, I'm just as excited that Ontario's new owners are keeping the Rat alive and actually upgrading it. #EDCGAW
Great deal. Nice to see Magnacut in some affordable options. Some great knives in the budget catagory lately. I've been carrying the Civivi Sendy in green micarta. Just a cool little knife.
***not an entry*** Good grab, quite a step up from Aus 8. I noticed, yours is in the tip down configuration. I had a knife once (can't remember which one) that I carried that way because it made sense for me. Any story behind yours? Again, welcome back and good luck everyone!
Great video Jeremie! Love EDC Gearhouse. They've done a few creative freedom packages for me and every time the results are awesome! As soon as they source Ti scales for the 1.5 I'm planning on using their Mystery Rat Builder on the site. #EDCGAW
#EDCGAW of all my years of knife collecting and such, I have surprisingly never had my hands on an Ontario Rat. Love Magnacut though. I have always heard all of the lore of the Rat. Thanks!
Love the Rat! Didn't know about the magnacut version so thanks for the vid! Right now my favorite budget EDC is the Vosteed Raccoon but would certainly carry this one as well! #edcgaw
That is a sweet knife, it's the perfect size and I'm glad they finally made one. My fave is probably the Cold Steel 4Max Scout as I like big knives and it's a do it all blade for me, plus I got it for around forty bucks, so tons of bang for the buck. Thank you bubba, I hope you and yours are enjoying this holiday season so far. #EDCGAW
What a great give away! Budget knives wise I love the Rosecraft Traditional slipjoints. The next release is the Farm Hand. A Sodbuster with a half stop! Also my buck 112 gets a lot of pocket time . I love the classic edcs and this Ontario 1.5 ticks all the boxes! #EDCGAW good luck to everyone.
Yeah, I'm super excited about this one! Thanks for the opportunity! #EDCGAW My current favorite budget EDC folder is the Civivi Vision FG. It's a very practical tool for daily life, but it's a lot of fun too. I think it's the most fidget friendly knife I have.
for years ive used the rat 1 and rat 2 mainly the rat 2 cause its a little more pocket friendly but i cycle between a couple of sydercos here and there but the rat 2 always finds itself more often in my pocket but this is really cool to know they have this in magnacut now #edcgaw
I've been wanting a Rat for some time.. the new 1.5he 1.5 hits the sweet spot on size. Thank you so much for the #EDCGAW... Here's hoping. My latest favorite "budget" EDC is the Vosteed Racoon top liner lock in Micarta.
Welp…I’ve owned 4 or 5 of the Rat 1’s and 2 or 3 Rat 2’s,,,,guess I need a 1.5 hahaha I’ll try my luck at a #edcgaw thanks for the chance brotha! Ummm favorite knife right,,, the Wharncliffe Banter with Unlocked Composite scales….SO GOOD!! But on the budget side the Sencut Hyrax….i was surprised at how much it feels like a Spyderco,,,but on bearings and with a flipper
#EDCGAW my favorite budget knife is the Dragonfly, but the price has gone up so far that don't think that counts anymore. Now I'd say it's the Vosteed Raccoon Cub. Thanks for the opportunity.
#EDCGAW Dude, had no idea the RAT came in a new Magnacut variant! Legit! Nice breakdown. I carry a Kizer Sheepdog, a Civivi Yonder, and, actually, a RAT 1, depending on my mood.
I love this. Getting a new knife for my teen son for Christmas, and this is in the running. Other contenders are: Civivi Hyperpulse, Civivi Sentinel Strike 2, Vosteed Raccoon... Thanks for this review. #EDCGAW
#EDCGAW I've had a buck 110 for years now. Usually carry it when I'm outside door yardwork/chores. Super sturdy knife that does everything I need it to do, even at the campsite. Don't carry it as an EDC around town due to it's weight though.
Finally, a premium Magnacut blade in a budget handle!! This is what I've been waiting for. I'm getting so tired of the MFRs thinking that we all want a $200+ handle to go with our premium steel. I want a better steel to EDC, not one to just drool over but not to carry for fear of losing my investment! I hope more makers make this a trend.
100% agree. Thats exactly why i like my Sage 1 in Maxamet so much. Nice simple liner lock with grey g10 scales, but it has a fantastic Maxamet blade. Got it from Spydercos main website for $150 when they went on sale for a few days. Well my wife got it for me technically. It isnt even a factory seconds. It was just a random sale price on just that exact model. I just hunt for simple knives and big sales. i cant afford full priced knives or fancy features. It doesnt have to be overengineered to be nice. I love liner lock knives because, in my opinion, sometimes simple is better.
@@alexcrowder1673 Right?! Why is everyone so gaga over 14C28N and Nitro V? So they are tough - what are people doing - using them as screwdrivers and pry-bars?! And then they put that tough blade in a weak lock - what good does that do? For EDC, I want a balanced steel, middle of the road on toughness and edge retention - Magnacut checks those boxes (really excels in both), and Ontario just proved it can be done without costing big bucks. I don't want an expensive titanium/carbon fiber show piece handle; I just want something that works and has grip. I understand the folks that like to collect and fidget with their knives and that's fine, but the market is being driven to opposite ends and nothing seems practical. And that's sad, when there are so many possibilities. I would just like to see them take all our favorite "budget" knives and upgrade only the steel. How about something like a crossbar lock Raccoon in Magnacut? I'd pay extra for the premium steel on that. Instead, they just keep the 14C and increase the variety of handle/clip/thumbstud materials and colors until we're all "happy" I guess. IDK.
I still have a Rat 2 in my car in a hidden compartment. It's been there for about 4 or 5 years. I forgot about it until I saw this video. Love that there is a 1.5 and I'm surprised at the price with Magnacut. Definitely something I could use. #EDCGAW
Can you tell me what MCG Gear clip that is? Is that the one for the RAT Model 1 or Model 2? ALSO my current favorite budget knife is the Kizer Mini Roach. #EDCGAW.
Thanks for the review! I see one of these in my collection in the very near future. My most favorite budget knife to carry is the CJRB Small Feldspar. I wish they would make one in Magnacut.... #EDCGAW!
#EDCGAW #KizerJeremie? #SecretlyMarmot?? My favorite budget knife is the Kizer Sparrow! I love its really nice modified sheepsfoot, doubly contoured scales (concave *and* convex), and overall shaping around the front of the handle! Plus its flipper looks like a little beak, and that's really cute.
Hey, thanks for the breakdown on this one. I'm only getting into knives recently, with just one Frost folder right now, so I can't claim a favorite yet. But I have a couple new knives on the way (Kizer Drop Bear and Civivi Mini Praxis). Also, thanks for the #EDCGAW giveaway, that's so nice!
I JUST bought a rat 2 lol. I've had a different rat 2 and a couple rat 1s and gave them all to my friends. I'll buy the rat 1.5 when it's in d2. #edcgaw my favorite budget knife knife is the Kershaw blur.
Why would you specifically want one in D2 instead of MagnaCut? Especially at this price? D2 has about the same edge retention as MagnaCut, but Magnacut is twice as tough, not to mention stainless as hell. D2 has large carbides and it is not very uniform in structure. This gives it a relatively poor toughness and hardness balance. Even among cheap steels it would be one of my last choices. ESPECIALLY if MagnaCut at this price was also an option. Because MagnaCut is amazing and this is a fantastic price for it. MagnaCut is actually very well priced overall for what it is. It's cheaper to manufacture than many other PM steels despite being the most well balanced of them all.
@alexcrowder1673 for me, the size is more important than the steel upgrade. Also the over all construction is the same, so you're paying entirely for the steel. Magnacut is great, but the rat is a budget beater work knife, so I prefer to keep it as cheap as possible. Just me. Cheers!
Making the perfect workhorse even more workhorsey. My favorite budget edc has to be the kizer dropbear for a smaller knife or my bestechman dundee in magnacut for a slightly bigger, slightly more expensive, knife. #edcgaw
And by all accounts they have the HRC at 64 ish which is going to make a lot of people happy.
Thanks John, I couldn't find that info👍. Hope you are doing well sir.
@jackfarmboy I've seen two other content creators who've been able to poke theirs already. All is well here, thanks for asking.
Thank you for the opportunity, Jeremie. My favorite budget knife is probably the Civivi Qubit, but the Kizer Towser K is a close second. #EDCGAW
Now that is super generous of you. Thanks for doing the giveaway. I never did realize the rat 1.5 exists. #EDCGAW My favorite budget carry is Civivi Praxis.
That is awesome! I love my rat 1. Great video 👍 #EDCGAW my favorite budget knife is the spyderco tenacious
Been looking to get an Ontario Rat into my collection!
Nice....The Rat 1 started it all for me....400 knives later, I'm just as excited that Ontario's new owners are keeping the Rat alive and actually upgrading it. #EDCGAW
Great video! My favorite EDC right now is a Mini Grouper by Kizer. Love the Rats though! #EDCGAW 👍
Great deal. Nice to see Magnacut in some affordable options. Some great knives in the budget catagory lately. I've been carrying the Civivi Sendy in green micarta. Just a cool little knife.
I love that green micarta.
Wowoweewoo! Very cool bookend of old/new here. A testament to the solid OntRat platform.
I think it's a good update for the platform
This knife comes with Magnacut, now? Holy shit, I'm in.
***not an entry*** Good grab, quite a step up from Aus 8. I noticed, yours is in the tip down configuration. I had a knife once (can't remember which one) that I carried that way because it made sense for me. Any story behind yours? Again, welcome back and good luck everyone!
A nice budget blade is the Pyrite lite. Thanks for the opportunity Jeremie. Take care. #EDCGAW
Thanks for the tip! Good luck in the giveaway.
Great to see some progress on the rat's evolution! #EDCGAW I love my mini sheepdog by kizer.
Great video Jeremie! Love EDC Gearhouse. They've done a few creative freedom packages for me and every time the results are awesome! As soon as they source Ti scales for the 1.5 I'm planning on using their Mystery Rat Builder on the site.

#EDCGAW of all my years of knife collecting and such, I have surprisingly never had my hands on an Ontario Rat. Love Magnacut though. I have always heard all of the lore of the Rat. Thanks!
I just got the rat 2 and I really like it. I think I’m going to have to lubricate the pivot, but it’s definitely a knife to have in any collection.
@dw8143 I'm gonna look into it.
It’s good to see they’re back in production.
Cool knife! Never owned an Ontario rat before
Definitely worth a look!
Love the Rat! Didn't know about the magnacut version so thanks for the vid! Right now my favorite budget EDC is the Vosteed Raccoon but would certainly carry this one as well! #edcgaw
The Raccoon is a great option for sure! Good luck in the giveaway.
#EDCGAW Thanks for showing us the Rat 1.5. One of my favorite budget knives to carry is the Buck 722 Spitfire.
That is a sweet knife, it's the perfect size and I'm glad they finally made one.
My fave is probably the Cold Steel 4Max Scout as I like big knives and it's a do it all blade for me, plus I got it for around forty bucks, so tons of bang for the buck.

The D2 Cut jack mini is my favorite and this rat 1.5 is a great edition to the rat family!

Thanks for sharing that, sounds like a good knife!
@@jackfarmboy So good! I'm not telling you to get you one. But get you one! 😂

Didn’t know they were sold. Thanks for the #EDCGAW
#EDCGAW like the look of the rats but never had one. Glad to see they have updated them for 2024!
Great looking knife, thanks for sharing #EDCGAW
The RAT is on my list. That version looks great. #EDCGAW. My favorite budget knife is the Vosteed Mink, or Racoon for a folder.
I’d take it! Never had a rat, might even like it! Civivi also has nice budget knifes..😄 #EDCGAW
#EDCGAW Whoa a rat in magnacut, thanks for the gw
Those buck 110/112 lites that are around $30 are awesome. I also love the civivi qubit. #EDCGAW
I've been wanting a Rat for some time.. the new 1.5he 1.5 hits the sweet spot on size. Thank you so much for the #EDCGAW... Here's hoping. My latest favorite "budget" EDC is the Vosteed Racoon top liner lock in Micarta.

#EDCGAW...my favorite budget knife is Buck 110 and nice way to go.
#EDCGAW
I used to have a RAT 2. It was a good knife.
I'm going to go with the Spyderco Dragonfly as my favorite.
Thanks for the opportunity.
The DF is one of my favorites as well.
Thanks for doing the subscriber appreciation giveaway! You deserve all applause from the community! #EDCGAW I carry a steel will cut jack.

#EDCGAW my favorite budget knife is the Dragonfly, but the price has gone up so far that don't think that counts anymore. Now I'd say it's the Vosteed Raccoon Cub. Thanks for the opportunity.
That size looks great, and getting away from D2 will be great for that profile.

I've always dropped mine verticaly in my back pocket. Wallet holds it in place. Don't even know it's there. 😉
Never had rat, but definitely seems like one I would want to pick up. Love my spydercos. I have the Spyderco paramilitary 2 with cruwear, love it!
Woah! Very cool piece! Thank you for the #EDCGAW

#EDCGAW Rat 2 and 1 is always my go to.
With this 1.5 would be very great especially in magnacut.
That one is a winner for sure. Thx for the #EDCGAW!!
My Cold Steel AD10 in drop point is a definite favorite for hard use. #EDCGAW

Ontario 1.5 Rat! Yes please. I am a fan of the original Rat and it's still my favorite budget folder. #EDCGAW
#EDCGAW. Favorite budget knife? Rat 1. I use it everyday. Great channel! Subscribed. Cheers, RW
That looks like a nice upgrade to an old knife. Currently using a crkt squid as my carry knife#EDCGAW

I think it's the best version of the Rat.
@ I agree, thank you for the opportunity.
Hope they offer the Rat 1 & 2 with these upgrades as well!
#EDCGAW
Manly Patriot
Meant to say Manly Peak (Endura-like folder) but the Patriot is a great value also though it is a fixed blade.
What a great work knife, I've been carrying the kizer hiccup as my budget pick #EDCGAW
#EDCGAW I never bought a R.A.T. but I agree 100 and less is the jam. My favorite budget edc is the AD10 lite that I got for 35$
#EDCGAW #KizerJeremie? #SecretlyMarmot?? My favorite budget knife is the Kizer Sparrow! I love its really nice modified sheepsfoot, doubly contoured scales (concave *and* convex), and overall shaping around the front of the handle! Plus its flipper looks like a little beak, and that's really cute.
Howdy packrat! Thanks for the comment, our house got a good kick out of it and we all googled marmot to verify.
@@jackfarmboy I'm really glad you all had fun with the idea! 😁 What was the consensus?

I never thought i see this, but magna cut on a rat is awesome! #EDCGAW
My fav is spyderco dragonfly in zdp189
#EDCGAW I like the original rat 1, it is hard to beat for a budget edc.
We’re getting spoiled with all these magnacut blades coming out. #EDCGAW. Favorite budget knife CJRB pyrite alt.
Nice, VERY Nice!
Kershaw blur is my favorite budget
Been wanting an Ontario Rat. Especially want one now that they come in Magnacut! My favorite budget knife is the Civivi Elementum. #EDCGAW
