that beautiful aqua green liquid. i swish it around dutifully. day in and day out, i am tempted but shall never let it run down my throat. for i've been told, even as youngly as a child, that letting such liquid gold enter my throat & stomach would cause me to enter the most dire of straits.. and so i continue to dutifully wash my mouth. with this wonderful thing.. called mouthwash.. and it seems someone has made a game about it!!
after finishing the game i enjoyed it. it falls into very overdone horror tropes, especially with its depiction of suicide, but overall a fun not super scary mostly atmospheric game about madness & all that stuff.

yo its wild how many like paragraphs people are writing about this game in the comments and theres still a ton of discussion as to the contents. i think thats a pretty good indicator the game is doing something interesting. just wanted to note that lol
it really is interesting, to say the least.
obsessed with hearing every time scorpy inexplicably tries to say corly even after correcting himself a dozen times
A lot of people here came out of this thinking Anya's character was handled poorly due to her trope being 'the horrified woman' and they should've done more, but i think that was the entire point with her character?
You're meant to view her through the lens of her abuser. You play as Jimmy, never forget that. I believe under normal circumstances, she is by no means incompetent or scared, but she is consistently being mocked and berated by someone who has assaulted her multiple times. Even when she is speaking to Curly, she is hesitant in her words because she's informed him of what's happened and action is STILL not being taken, she's right to be wary and feel a bit helpless.
This story is meant to highlight the horrors of enabling an abuser. Even if you're just trying to 'keep the peace' the way Curly did, it still ends up harming others. At the end of the day, Curly's dismissal of Anya's problems because of his friendship with Jimmy and Jimmy's interactions with her are meant to convey her sense of autonomy being taken because nobody is truly listening to her. If you came out of it thinking she was just a trope, and was handled poorly and flat, then I believe the game did it's job, because understanding something like this on a personal level, this IS exactly how it feels.
It's unintentional, and it's spiraling, but this game truly reflects how most enablers in everyday life AREN'T truly malicious, it is the complexity of the situation that makes this so harrowing. If Curly had simply taken steps to condemn Jimmy properly, this would've been entirely avoided.
Maybe a bit of a poorly worded ramble, I've never been good at putting my words together, but I really enjoy this game and I wanted to share my perspective on it.
Definitely not poorly worded!
a prime example of "unreliable narrator"
i think a lot of the people's complaints have are valid and i think ultimately, like if suicide and sexual assault being touched on like this are a no go for you i think it's completely valid to have that preference, i don't want people to feel like they have to like something they can't stomach. but i also want to argue a bit more in defense of some of the "madness" scenes because i actually find them super interesting, i like how they really convey jimmy's attempts to take responsibility but ultimately he can never actually take responsibility because he's a fucking horrible person.
at first he wants the relief of people finally praising him for his responsibility, but he ultimately conceptualises that by cannabalistically consuming curly. then he tries to justify his killing of swansea like it's some fucking shooter game and swansea is just some monster selfihsly chasing him down. in the vents he has to retrace his steps, but he cannot bring himself to look back at all at what he's actually done, so he just walks backwards in the dark. he "tries" to take responsibility for the captain, but he can only conceive of this by strapping the curly down and torturing him into a position where the captain is forced to accept jimmy's "care". we see him try to take responsibility for raping anya, but he still can't really conceive of anya as a person, he's just terrified by the consequences so his mind focuses on that. lastly we try to see him "save" one person but he only sticks curly in a coffin and shoots himself so he doesn't have to deal with any of the side effects himself.
i find it super interesting that we get to really feel his mental state here and it's something that makes this really work well as a game, but i also understand why people might be off put by this anyway, and i don't think that's an objectively wrong opinion to have. i just wanna push back against the idea that "he's just going insane" when to me it felt much more about conveying the mental state of a deeply fucked person twisting themselves in whatever way they can to justify their actions!
I found it interesting that towards the end when he's going through the guilt of Daisuke's and Swansea's deaths, Anya is nowhere to be seen. What would have been her segment was instead taken up by a symbolic representation of her fetus, which in my mind signifies that even at the very end, Jimmy can't bring himself to care about Anya herself at all.
@@janpipiko yeah! polle's text at the end is blue like anya's and it's very deliberately asking him "if you really want to take responsibility, then why do you care about *him*?", deliberately calling out jimmy for only caring about curly when he's just not the thing jimmy actually needs to be taking responsibility for! but he still can't bring himself to fucking actually do it! which makes for such a compelling character because i know people like this who just cannot bring themselves to face the actual problem in their lives!
@@talon6274 Wow, never noticed the bit about Polle's text being blue like hers, that's a great touch.
Couple of my thoughts, major spoiler warning of course:
I initially agreed with Scorpy's annoyance at the first scene giving you an illusion of choice, but after seeing the twist it's kinda brilliant. Once you realize the pattern of playing as Curly before the crash and as Jimmy after the crash, you recontextualize that very first scene as "Oh, that must have been Curly, then," which is further reinforced by everyone else on the crew believing it was Curly who crashed the ship.
It also puts Jimmy and Curly's whole situation in an entirely different light. At first it looks like Curly was a suicidal man who just wanted to die in peace, with no way to communicate that fact to Jimmy or Anya. With the added context, Curly now seems like he's staying alive willingly, out of SPITE, unable to tell anyone what had actually happened.
Also, I was a little disappointed that there was no attention brought to the change in medication. Curly was initially on oxycodone, an opiate painkiller, and the extras that they found later were paracetamol (aka tylenol or acetaminophen). That's an over-the-counter medication that you're meant to take for like, headaches. I've had to make that transition from opiates to tylenol after a minor surgery and it was horrible! Curly's a goddamn champion if that's all he needs to manage that kind of pain. Also, Anya is surrounded by the green bottles when you find her corpse, meaning she OD'ed on regular ole tylenol. Jesus.
i agree with a lot of what you said; i will note that the tylenol's in 500mg/pills which is *not* over the counter anywhere near that dose and must be prescribed(was given both types after wisdom teeth removal) HOWEVER you're right that they're entirely different in how it affects a person, and how it affects their body. Poor Anya must've died really painfully with that tylenol.
This game proves horses should be utilized in horror more
I haven't even waych the video yet but I liked this just out of principle
A lot of folks have been talking abt how the weakness of Anya is a byproduct of the pov(s) & how like the POINT is that she is minimized & marginalized even by the more well-meaning Curly. However, the thing that strikes me is that the creators choose to highlight the perspective of Curly & Jimmy specifically to the detriment of Anya. Like that's a choice on the part of creators & I think there is value in interrogating that creative decision & how it may perpetuate the narrative of the abuser & his direct enabler in a way that feels fucked up in how it brushes Anya to the side. Like we live in a society that marginalizes & denys women agency & voice & the way the story reflects this feels like it reaches a point of perpetuating rather than refutation or condemnation.
this is a really good point actually. personally, i liked having just curly and jimmys pov for two reasons. one, the story is specifically catered to work best as told through the pov through the two people who refuse to acknowledge the horrors taking place, keeping us the player in the dark. and two, like you mentioned, it was a deliberate choice to minimize anyas voice. its one thing if anya is sidelined because of the writers own biases towards women. its another thing when they sideline her on purpose to draw attention to that fact. maybe it seems counterintuitive to some people, and maybe not everyone is going to "get it". but in my experience, people dont take well to feminist narratives feeling forced upon them. encouraging critical thought and makign people *have* these discussions about whether anya was or wasnt sidelined works a lot better! its working right now! and i dont think its the creators fault if someone ends up taking away the wrong message from their game. people are always going to find a way to interpret and criticize something from the worst possible angle. what matters more to me is that there was a specific intent here both from the story and jimmys pov to minimize anya, and that intent had purpose. it worked for me, and whether it lands with a person or not is ultimately personal. we can always use more stories from women about their experiences in their own voices, but that doesnt mean mouthwashing is bad because it isnt that. my stance is never to take away from other types of stories, just put more out in the world, yknow? this is long and rambly but it really got me to think and i hope it gave you something to chew on as well :) again, no hate if you dislike it! just found it interesting

For anyone who really enjoyed the game and is super into the premise, i 100% recommend the film Aniara. It takes the premise of “team stranded in space slowly go mad” and makes it into a ship with thousands upon thousands of people, detailing how their society breaks down overtime as resources dwindle and hope is all but lost. It’s like Mouthwashing with a way bigger scope, way more budget and 100x more disturbing.
most depressing movie i've ever seen. i love it.
this is such an interesting game. i definitely agree with a lot of the critiques people have especially concerning anya's role in the story but its also kind of baffling me that so many people are taking that last sequence as like something jimmy is literally experiencing because he is literally hallucinating and not like, symbolic representation of his state of mind? either way a game i'm gonna to be thinking a lot about
I feel like a lot of people who are disappointed about this game just wanted it to be a different game. Like, yeah, this is a story about a guy who shirks responsibility so hard he ends up ruining lives of all the people around them, and his friend in power who used that power to enable and cover for him, which is what doomed him in the end. There is the backdrop of corporate dystopia under it, but it's just a setting, not the main course. The main course is how one guy could get his world so warped by his own ego and jealousy that multiple people end up dead. It's more of a Breaking Bad type story than a. idk. One of the endless array of indie games that are about space capitalism.
There are a lot of good criticisms of the game, of course (the ending does drag, even if that's intentional), but far too many fall into the pit of "This is not the game I wanted it to be."
went to the comments after i finished watching the video and i was so baffled at how many people wanted this story about an abuser refusing to own up to what he did to actually be all about... space capitalism or cosmic horrors? like... i think you guys dont actually want mouthwashing what you want is an entirely different game.
@@c-orgiis thank you!!! honestly i feel like some of these comments are extremely pretentious…this is a beautiful game and i’m obsessed with it because of how REAL it portrays it’s characters. there’s no cosmic horror or evil entity. it’s just a monster of a man who gets his crew killed because of his selfishness.
people complaining about anya’s character rub me the wrong way, too. she didn’t get a happy ending because that was the POINT. she was asking curly (and swansea) for help and no one around her listened and that eventually cost her her life. and that shit happens in the real world all the time.
honestly I’m super late but I def agree. “I wanted it to be about space capitalism!” well…. there’s a lot of games about that. Holly played Hardspace: Shipbreaker, if you’re into that kinda thing. But a game centered around that theme entirely would not Mouthwashing make.
As a survivor of SA, I found Anya’s story to be deeply compelling and uncomfortably relatable. This is a game about how enabling abusers ensures they can hurt more people, even you. Personally, I believe it’s very well done, and Jimmy being an unreliable narrator and unreliably narrating all over the place is in service to the story, and not at all a detriment. Just because there’s “tropes” present doesn’t make the execution of the tropes bad, and in fact, I think even in some cases reinventing the wheel like this just makes the very important messaging more accessible to newer audiences.
i couldn't take that section with the crying baby horse centipede seriously i just kept thinking of Wave O' Babies from that teen girl squad
Started this vod then immediately paused and bought the game to play it myself. Absolutely worth it. This game has wrecked me for the rest of the night
No fucking way i got a toothbrush ad before this
For me at least; a lot of the problems I have with Anya's characterization would be solved (while changing as little else about the game as possible) if Swansea was a woman. Because like a lot of folks have made the very real and true point that we are viewing Anya through the eyes of her abuser Jimmy. Because of this she falls into the helpless victim trope easily because she as a character is not being helped by the people around her and is a victim and that's the point, as opposed to the more common iterations of this trope where the character is a helpless victim because she's a woman and 'that's how you write women'.
This is then mixed in with the fact that she is the only woman in the game which makes the adjacency to the helpless woman trope all the more apparent. But (again at least in my opinion) if there was another woman in the cast, Anya wouldn't become the only reference to how women are written in the game. And I think Swansea would be the best choice for balancing this out a bit.
Jimmy and Curly are out of the picture, at least if you want to keep the theme of how keeping the peace with your bros/enabling an abuser (unless you wanna get into queer SA which is a whole extra can of worms to write) ends up making things worse. Daisuke is a symbol of innocence, and young symbol of innocence woman who dies at the hands due to the actions of a negligent shit head is hardly uncharted territory. However with Swansea it would add tons of new layers as to...
1. Why Anya went to Swansea after the crash as opposed to Daisuke or both Daisuke and Swansea
2. Why Swansea starts carrying the axe
3. Swansea's end speech
(also like we need more schlubby cranky middle aged women characters lol)
anyways thank you for coming to my ted talk
Yeah alright I'll integrate butch Swansea into my worldview
I think this game was incredibly tightly written. i will say im glad i watched it instead of played it as i think the stealth/puzzle segments were more atmospheric than interesting to a detriment, but in terms of how well they crafted the story its one of the best honestly. Maybe its recency bias but this feels like head and shoulders above most games writing. The characters are incredibly well realized imo. kudos to wrong organ i think youve really made something special here

god i loved this game so much
love the fixation jimmy has on fixing things. also that ending i know people dont fuck with it but honestly i really do! like were curly. its flat and meaningless because jimmy doesnt actually feel bad for what he did. just for inconveniencing curly! also i think its so important to note about anya that she seemed so blank during jimmys segments because hes a freak ass misogynist. he doesnt value her at all! this being in contrast to how curly speaks to her is wild. idk i have a lot of thoughts on this game. cannot stop thinking about the characters
@@luridvistas i really wish they would have played up more directly how much of a jealous narcissist jimmy was and did less with him being just generically "insane" because that angle is SOOO fun with wonderful horror potential. you can really feel it a few times and its great but to me it never felt like they fully committed to the bit and thats a shame
@@mastermind42ful idk i kind of dont get why people see this as the main thing. i mean of course its there but when i was sifting through it, it read more about a man whos hatred consumed him but ultimately was a huge coward to me. like with ship crash, he wanted to take everyone down with him because he couldnt bear the thought of taking any accountability for doing what he did to anya (at least, thats my reading)
@@mastermind42fulalso narcissist isn’t a good descriptor for him, since that’s a diagnosed personality disorder.. maybe like egotistical instead

(SPOILERS FOR THE WHOLE GAME AHEAD) !!
i loved watching this playthrough!! it was a great game overall, but i feel like their biggest misstep was anya's character. aside from the poor depiction of suicide, they didn't give her much beyond the typical role of women in horror - the anxious victim that is tormented by the male antagonist (and is used solely for themes of pregnancy or assault). it's so overdone and i'm sick of it! i very much enjoyed the non-linear storyline that let you fit the pieces together, and you really felt for characters that you wouldn't have expected to (daisuke/curley). horror stories involving a crew of people always interest me so much more than single protagonist ones since you get to enjoy the dynamics of a group of people pushed to their limits!!
yeah i think thats the only place i feel the narrative faltered. although it can be argued that each character is a pretty on-the-nose horror/"driven to insanity" character archetype it does a disservice to all the other effort that was clearly put into the pacing, editing & design that stand out as pretty unique. overall i think its a fun thriller-type plot but the characters and their portrayal is the weakest point fs
It feels like they really just forgot Anya exists after that reveal. As I was watching the finale, all I could think was what about Anya? I was expecting some sort of section dedicated to her, like those dedicated to Curly and Swansea but she didn’t so much as have her ID appear with the others! I mean, surely abandoning the unborn child of the woman you’ve raped is the epitome of refusing to take responsibility for your actions??? It would’ve made for a very interesting exploration of the key themes of the game but it feels like they really just used her as a plot device and not much more, which is unfortunate as not only is it far too commonplace in fiction, but also just really drags down what could’ve been a much better game
@@cmcshane2740 i mean, it arguably gets its own section (as divorced from Anya herself as possible) with the whole (too on the nose, i'm not like. saying that part was good. saying "well, my least favorite part of the game happened!" isn't a defense) ultrasound-heart-into-centipede-monster-scenario. honestly it might just be that nothing's topping RE8 with it but i feel like "baby terror" as a horror game convention (especially from a man's perspective...) is getting kinda worn out.
overall its a game i really want to like and has good stuff in it but. damn. it can be WORSE i guess when it comes to these sorts of issues in horror (hell theres horror media i'd consider "good" thats quite a bit less subtle in its mistreatment of female characters from both an in-story events and broader plot+framing perspective!) but honestly for the subject matter i think the unreliable narrator unreliable'd a bit too close to the sun for the stakes to hit right. (some of the surreal symbolic stuff WAS good though. just, the stuff that didn't hit REAALLY didn't hit with the kinds of serious the subject matter is.)
(....though I'm also not sure how ~craaaaayzee~ protag actually is compared with the rest of the crew given the conditions. like he might be a way more normally awful person with the wierd shit being a claustrophobia + mouth wash induced haze.... in which case its less of an unreliable narrator thing and more, god i'm rambling. game's messy and to me its an interesting, enjoyable-to-pick-apart mess but in being that mess its left itself open some kinda Bad holes. Like even taking some of the narratives' sidelining of Anya as Jim's own disdain leaking through to what the audience sees through him thats. kinda not communicated well enough to be worth it.)
(the sense of "oh fuck they haven't been screening the nurse's mental health" into "HE DID WHAT?!?!" into the captain taking this information and, though disappointed, trying to make appeals to protag's better nature was a really good scene at establishing the layers of problems going on on this goddamn ship, the game fumbling the landing on seeing those "systemic failures (everything the corp did bad) -> authoritarian failures (the captain failing to properly discipline his pilot or adequately rehabilitate ANYTHING insteada just trying to move things on) -> interpersonal failures (fucking. everything the pilot/protag has ever done jfc)" through to the end is just kinda sad...)
Apologies for infodumping my thoughts on this thing as a vaguely relevant reply to what you said. Not actually sorry but I can understand it being a nuisance. How Fish is Made was better umu
@@cmcshane2740 Her ID is there, but it's hidden under Jimmy's ID. Also, the horse-centipede represents a child. I put Anya's absence down to the fact that it's from Jimmy's point of view. He doesn't regret what he did. He is more interested in the child than what he has done
I also don't agree with the poor portrayal of the suicide, I think that given her circumstances (the attacker was her superior, she had no safe space, Curly's situation) it was portrayed well. As for Anya being the victim, that was handled pretty well too, just because you feel like it's overused doesn't make the depiction itself bad.
wanted to play this game for myself so i passed on this stream / vod. after playing it, sitting with it and watching friends play it (for lack of a better phrase) i'm dick riding the creative choices so i wanna drop an unbiased (pertaining 2 in vod talk) comment about anya (+ open response to the comments here that didn't like her characters direction and vid desc note)
the horror of her character is absolutely trope typical but to devalue her horror to that extent is to devalue her character, i get tropes being worn but was it actually done badly? she's the sole girl in the crew, the sole nurse and shoehorned psychologist. anya's horrors are very real horrors for people who can get pregnant, for people subjected to sexist discrimination, even just for people who take others problems on board far too often. her assault and suicide was never her horror, it's the negligence of standardized workplace care and safety outside of what she's explicitly employed to perform. nothing exists for her alone, just the medic for everyone else.
anya isn't just a caring girl who's in the wrong place at the wrong time, she's an employed nurse who was devalued, discredited and failed by her coworkers and employers.
in universe she's only on this flight to achieve getting into med school, she ideally doesn't want to be here so her having to carry the burden of caring for the 4 'real workers' onboard as her priority is tragically realistic in how women are often reduced in media into caretaker dynamics / roles inside varied groups.
yes the tropes on their own are cheap but the thought and intention into anya's character gives the firm and explicit confirmation as to how and why they happened
like did you realize that her bed is next to the motion activated polle statue? did you realize the jimmy warehouse maze scene mirrors the motion activation? do you know how much of this game is not just the dialogue alone? it's amazingly horrific
for anyone still 'eeeh i don't feel it' would the game be better if her assault and pregnancy was implied? leave room for plausible deniability? should her suicide have been less visible? should she have been a more pleasant and less disturbing character for your peace of mind and viewing pleasure? should she die tragically without reinforced characterization? should her facing minority specific horrors not impede on the comfort of your life where you can just turn away and ignore it? like curly?
ignoring her as a complete character is viewing her like jimmy whose pov deliberately minimizes her, taking his words as truth only leaves you with his personal impression of her if you can't disconnect his bias from the truth you'll only see the game on a surface level and god i could write a dissertation on this game holy shit
i doubt many people will see this comment cus 3 week old vod but if anyone else is wandering these parts n didn't like the direction behind anya's character i hope this can give perspective on why i love it n possibly change your mind

spoilery paragraph ahead since i've been thinking about this game on and off since i saw the stream. because i really do like so many parts of it. and it really is such a shame that the shallower parts of the writing and some of the comically on the nose imagery (that vastly overstays its welcome at the end) brings the experience down so much.
the nonlinear storytelling is such a strong choice that's backed by the visuals giving clear indicators of when in the story things are taking place. the harsh orange lighting, and the shattered sky screen later on, contrasted by the florescent lighting and no foam pre-crash, like its really fucking good! the visual flourishes are fantastic the whole way through! they are consistently the highlight! but then we hit the point where jimmy goes craaaaazy ooooh isn't he so insane....... and it just sucks.
the electrocardiogram scene is so on the nose and so stupid that it just completely took me out of it for the rest of the game. like. man. i wish the themes of the game were more about how them being exploited for a mouthwash delivery was fucked from the start and how the meaningless gestures about taking care of mental health huge companies spit out are entirely worthless (which is backed by the posters in the first aid office that you looked at, like again. the visual stuff is fantastic) and less about jimmy being a huge cunt and then having a wacky murder party!!! cause hes insaaaaaaaane ooooh he lost his miiiiiind..........
basically there really is so much to like here and it's a shame the final act just falls so short of the rest of the game
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think they went all in on “ohhhh mentally ill insano mode slasher 😱”, jimmy only kills one guy and it’s the one that tries to directly punish him for what he’s done, curly and daisuke were maimed by his fixation on leading and fixing everything, daisuke only officially dies once swansea mercy-kills him, and what happened to anya honestly rubs me the wrong way but it wasn’t his intent at all and happened before all the hallucination stuffs
That's not what's going on in the final act at all though? It's literally Jimmy in denial and refusing to take responsibility for what he's done till the very end. The segments get wackier and more obvious because everyone else that can talk is Literally Dead and Jimmy is still fighting tooth and nail to avoid any accountability despite how glaringly obvious it is that everything was his fault.
@@wasperfly That too, I don’t get how it’s a “murder party” when just about all of it went down while he was relatively lucid, it’s just jimmy’s last bout of denial until he thinks he can salvage what’s left by “saving” curly (solely to ignore that the damage’s already been done)
Besides taking out the guy who was gonna (rightfully) rip his head off, the other violent thing he does while completely out of it is butchering curly at the “party”, but he’s always wanted to become curly in a sense, disfiguring curly to replace him was part of the m.o from the very start, it’s not just blood for blood’s sake

its so sad how much the bad parts of this game bring the rest of it down for me. It also insists a little too much upon itself at the end for me to say i actually liked it. Fun stream though!
the fact that there's like 5 distinct "ending" scenes with 5 unique minigames feels so strange to me, surely any one of them alone would have been suffice

Man I fuckin wish the game focused more on the worker exploitation side of the stuff and everyone dealing with the fact they don't have a job once the ship leaves. There was parts of that in the beginning but it made its way for the "actual story" which boils down to "Jimmy sucks as a person". The environments were great, the graphics were fantastic, the fact they're shipping so much mouthwash you can't even see the other side of the wall, the company being a piece of shit to it's workers not treating them with any respect restricting sleep and will never send a search party for this ship is fantastic.
I guess what I wanted out of it was a drama of how the people deal with the fact that they died when the ship crashed. I guess that was the story but man did they pull out all of the overused tropes. Especially with Anya man they did her dirty. Turned something that could've been interesting into an arc that's a dime a dozen and not for a good reason. I don't even mind Jimmy being a self absorbed and deluded asshole who abuses the power he gets after crashing the ship.
I dunno, it left a sour taste with how much is centralized around Jimmy by the end of it. The rape too, that didn't add fucking anything. I really wanted the moment where they piece the puzzle together, see Jimmy did it, kill him, have that small moment of victory before realizing they're still fucked. They are already dead. The company killed them before they ever crashed the ship.
Spoiler. I almost kinda wish that the horse monster was real in this, and not some figment of Jimmy's imagination. If that was the twist, instead of the crash being Jimmy's fault over a pregnancy would've honestly been a little more interesting. Like if crashing into the asteroid released some kind of dormant alien that takes the visage of the first thing it sees after it awakens, and it just so happens to've been Polle the Pony.
i disagree. a story about complicated human emotions is always going to feel more impactful to me than crazy mascot horror
not saying that the complicated human emotions were handled expertly or anything. but I found it mostly compelling
That could be a good plotpoint for another story but this one is more about simple and dumb evils, the only villains are an uncaring corporation and a single deluded person, adding a murder monster doesn’t really fit
@@TheRoboPeanut I agree with you but maybe an actual physical cosmic horror monster would've benefited this story. I think the last half(?) of the game where jimmy goes full psycho mode (along with imaginary monster sequences) detracts from the real horror of the story which is that Jimmy is just an average guy. An average selfish manipulative abusive guy. I found him pretty realistic up until the point where they needed to ramp up the horror elements.
They could've replaced most of the horror elements of the last half with a real monster. There's no reason why it would lose any of it's symbolism just because it's 'real' vs literally in Jimmy's imagination, and I don't think it would detract from the main villain or commentary of story considering it would still be Jimmy's fault the creature got on board.
Making it Polle the Pony would definitely be stupid tho lol that's just another low poly mascot horror game at that point
@kingdomheartsrugrats yeah I think I would agree with that. The game got pretty wild already.
