    Aya was originally supposed to be the main character but executives didn’t have faith in a female protagonist, so they switched bayek and Aya around
    It’s a shame because Aya deserves her own game; but on the other hand, Bayek is very arguably the best character in the series - personally I put him above Ezio

    Just to clarify something, Egyptians are not considered Arab they're just Egyptians we have our own identity the only thing we share with Arabs in recent history is just the language

      Exactly! The arabian culture is prominent in today's Egypt, but not during the 1st century b.c. The spread of arabian culture and Islam started in the 7th century a.d.

    Bayek is such a fantastic character, I know everyone always taks about Ezio but for me the fan favourite is Bayek without a doubt.

    The most historically accurate depiction of Cleopatra ever.

    •  11 місяців тому +8

      True, tho the bar wasn't very high. And they had room to be even more so.

      Too sexualized imo, but I love it nonetheless.

      ...That might be true on a technicality, but it speaks more to how historically inaccurate Cleopatra depictions are than to the historical accuracy of this one.

      @@kvm6 Definitely not. It's incredibly accurate. And the Ptolemy dynasty is based on a mix of ancient Greek and ancient Egyptian culture. Does it make sense. She was very naughty, and that proves her story.

    Saying he’s Anglo Saxon is dumb af considering they didn’t exist as a people yet. Bayek isn’t Arab tho. He’s a very good depiction of what pre Greek/Roman and Arab invasions of Egypt looked like. And being from siwa and being a medjay he’d probably have some Sudanese ancestry as well as possibly Canaanite but that’s speculative.

    • @paperstainedink
      @paperstainedink 11 місяців тому

      This game is set during Ptolemaic Egypt, so the Greeks are already here. But other than that, spot on.

    • @jonahgann5947
      @jonahgann5947 11 місяців тому +1

      @@paperstainedink yes but bayek is a medjay from siwa. Siwa was left relatively untouched to my knowledge.

    Bayek has no white ancestors though, he's a full Egyptian and he was born in Siwa. Whoever commented that, is clearly confused. Let's keep it at that.

    The word "Neb" is ancient Egyptian means "Master"

    I think the commentor around 1:21:00 got Aya's and Bayek's backstory mixed up, Aya does have Greek heritage, Bayek afaik does not.

      Idk where he got Anglo Saxon or if maybe Meg just read that in if the guy said white? Mentioning Anglo Saxon’s before the Roman’s even left Britain is wild lol

    God the score in this game is amazing. Sarah Schachner is a goddess.
    As for Cleopatra... it's better than previous adaptations.

    Love this game's depiction of Ancient Egypt.

      I've noticed that I've stopped so many open world games the past 5 years due to lack of interest, but AC:O was one of the few top 3 games that I completed relatively fast (whilst doing most of the side quests that I was at least aware of). Man, even after 3 years since I finished this game with the DLC of that time (the Hidden ones), it really is such a gorgeous looking and feeling game.

      I've taken 170 hours or more, because I took my time and had all the dlc. It was the first game I started playing in the Corona time and I'm an avid gamer now. I do want to replay it soon but I still have to finish Star Wars Jedi and Days Gone.

    Man these playthoughs are going to be loooooong! After playing Mirage I really can't go back to the leveling system, xp based progression and rpg stuff, gotta do the side missions to level up just to progress the main story, gotta upgrade the hidden blade and no one shot kills, its just not for me. Just watching these playthroughs make me sad cause I love Origins but I will never go back to playing the rpg games.
