    Very good tips. One thing I try to explain to people and visualize is like your skipping a rock across the pond, almost throw the ball into the lane and flick it off your hand. Increases speed and revs. Good stuff man, keep on grinding...

    Looking pretty good Michael !! .. I have a young friend who I bowl with, he is a REALLY good bowler. I learn a lot from him. He has an incredible rev-rate, especially for a 17 year old skinny kid. He does something that I have tried to do but is really hard for me. It is exactly what Darren talks about but MUCH MUCH more. His wrist actually goes backwards at the top and like Darren says, he whips it, like cracking a whip. The way he does it is so smooth though, it's amazing. He is normally a 2 handed bowler, but he's just about as good at 1 handed. I estimate his 1 handed rev-rate is probably over 500 rpm and I will bet that he has surpassed 600 at times. It's fun to watch him, he makes it look so easy. These damn kids these days, they're just good at everything. I really believe Darren is absolutely spot on with the advice he is giving, and he should be, he's super talented and has been around this game for a very long time. I would absolutely trust anything Darren tells me about bowling. He and his brother are both outstanding bowlers and extremely knowledgeable, especially when it comes to the modern game of bowling. I am super happy you are using this valuable information and applying it so well. Keep it up!!! .. I am tying to do the same, but I'm just an old guy who can't do these things as well as I used to, still trying though 😁

    I love how technical bowling has become because you can release the bowling ball rather traditional, thumbless or two-handed (to a certain degree) in several different ways what a lot of people fail to realize.

  • @dantemack6323
    @dantemack6323 2 місяці тому

    Here's a couple things that have really improved my rev rate, accuracy, and feel: Having two thumbs, one for the start of the night and one for if/when it swells. For me, having an interchangeable thumb that falls onto my thumb and fits almost exactly that doesn't't make me squeeze or pressure to hold onto the ball fixed a lot of issues that I was having in my swing. I actually believe it was the root of a lot of inconsistencies that I was facing throughout league nights during the week. A mental image that helped me was thinking about creating positive and tight rotation with only the upper half of my palm and up through my fingers (one handed bowler). For a while I was trying to create heavy rev rate with my entire wrist, and I think that negatively impacted the way my thumb/hand came out of the ball, and also added more pressure to my hand/swing. The last thing I've learned recently from probably the best bowler within 4-5 hours of where I'm from, is a lot of timing and speed inconsistencies can come from your third step if you have a 5 step approach. I was unaware that this was sort of your power step and where a lot of your energy gets transferred into the bottom of the swing. I slowed my first two steps down a lot and still could not get my ball speed down when I needed to until this was brought up to me, and it slowed my ball speed down almost instantly. Hope this helps someone!

    Looking better for sure. It’s so weird how bad habits just compile and before you know it so much has changed and everything feels off. I’m dealing w this right now. I’ve gotten so bad that I didn’t even realize that I started taking 7 steps from 5 and the list goes on and on. Need to fix it asap, but I have to dedicate the time to do it.

  • @mikes5918
    @mikes5918 2 місяці тому

    Even the tempo of your swing looks different and better - like the ball is doing more of the work as opposed to your arms and body. Awesome job! With practice and time it will come together as you have the athleticism to make the changes and keep them going.

  • @markeone
    @markeone 2 місяці тому

    Looking a lot better. Always felt you were throwing the ball, now you look much more like you're understanding the pendulum effect and ball looked to be doing a lot more of the work. Keep it up. One of my tips for tournaments would be never ever get down. Even when the bowling is going terrible. Stay confident. Keep a smile and make some other part of the game what it's about. Make the spare game the happy part or just. Keep a positive attitude. I can't remember the times I've tanked because I got in the wrong mood.

  • @johnjohns4056
    @johnjohns4056 2 місяці тому

    Nice! Darren's tips kind of goes in line with what I commented a couple of weeks ago. To me, a free swing will allow you to do anything to the ball. Like you said in the beginning of this video, your arm and wrist were very tense on the "befores". Keep practicing!!

    • @220vlogs
      @220vlogs  2 місяці тому

      I think I get what you meant now, “free swing” is kind of vague as you can cup your wrist but still have your arm swing freely

    • @johnjohns4056
      @johnjohns4056 2 місяці тому

      @@220vlogs Sorry for being a little vague, but yes, when your arm swing is "clinched" and tight, it tends to freeze and you really can't do what you want at release. A nice fluent, effortless swing is the key to me. Your hand and wrist can do anything from there. Just don't let go of the ball in your backswing and hit Forrest! A little tighter thumbhole may help you be more fluent as well. A tight arm swing was always one of my biggest faults when struggling. Good luck and hope the best to you!

  • @bartolomy01
    @bartolomy01 2 місяці тому +1

    Your release is way cleaner now. There is no stopping at the top of your swing anymore which messes up your timing completely.

  • @stevenreid-g2y
    @stevenreid-g2y 2 місяці тому

    Your release looks much better! Your biggest fight now (as it always has been) is squaring up your hips and shoulders at the line. You tend to throw across your body while dropping your right shoulder. That too looks better than in times past.

    • @JeffDillion
      @JeffDillion 2 місяці тому

      IMO squaring at the line is old tech, if his hips and shoulders are open towards his target it’s easier to get the ball where you want it to go. I may be wrong.

    Second edit: after watching the video, I have to say, it seems like those few tips from Darren changed more than just his swing. His footwork looks a little quicker and his form looks wayy more comfortable and repeatable. I can confidently say that 220 avg bowler will soon be 250 avg bowler.

    • @tonycerniglia4777
      @tonycerniglia4777 2 місяці тому

      It's his timing. He's putting too much h thought into release. If you watch carefully his swing is late with his slide. The easiest correction is to push away a little downward which will lessen the backswing height. This why he (and so many other bowlers) don't average what they would like... timing!

    Youre thinking way to much about the release. Your problem is timing, generally your swing is late with your approach and forced. Watch your videos closely and youll see it. The release does not require all of this thought. I`ve had 400 rpm on a ball before it was a thing and before either Daren or you were born :). Timing is the most critical aspect of delivering a shot an a target line without a ton of correction. In my opinion thats why the shots here are all over the place. I recommend either pushing the ball off slightly earlier or a bit more downward (this will be easier because your mind-body are programmed to what you currently do) which will take just a bit off backswing height and get the release through the ball better in time with the slide.
