    Thank you very much for the video tutorial. Do you have another updated video understanding the changes that cloudflare made and that are currently presented? For example, the definition of cache rules that previously (and as in the example in the video) would simply involve selecting a new rule and adding CACHE BYPASS now require the selection of "Field + operator + value". Thank you very much.

      You could leave it on, but then you need to select "full" SSL in cloudflare.
      If you leave it you will have secure connection between your visitor's browser > Cloudflare > Your domain
      If you switch it off. You will have secure connection only your visitor's browser > Cloudflare.. you will still get the green padlock though

    • @tipswithpunch
      @tipswithpunch  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Abhay, you can keep your SSL certificate but cloudflare will use their ssl certificate to secure the connection between your users and cloudflare. However if you choose "Full" SSL in cloudflare, your connection will be also secured between your server and cloudflare.
      This is because cloudflare is a proxy, so the flow is users browser > cloudflare > your server. If you want purely CDN for images, then you can check bunnyCDN (it's not free though), here is a tutorial ua-cam.com/video/qxYjZACTuV4/v-deo.html

      Cloudflare works a bit differently because it's a proxy. So you don't actually see the CDN urls.

      opacity: 1 !important;
      }
      Third add to cart-buttons were gone in product archive template, I had to enable it in Astra ->Customizer
      But I don't know if elementor is the way building a woocomerce website. A great theme with hooks and some nice addons can do it more smoothly. Elementor I think is better for dynamic pages . I'm only thinking , what do you think?

    So, 16 minutes of video just to get the exact page loading time ? Sounds like a waste of time to me.
    Yslow score has no incidence on how fast you site loads.
    You should have tried to run GT metrix from two different server location before and after setting up cloudflare, otherwise you're missing the point of setting up a cdn video, right ?

    • @tipswithpunch
      @tipswithpunch  4 роки тому

      Hi Alain, good point about the 2 servers, I should have done that for sure. When I do next video about page speed related stuff I'll include this.
      And in the end GTmetrix is just a tool, what is important is to look at your Google analytics (which I show at end of the video) and see how has CDN helped your page speed around the world. If your audience is 98% in one country, then CDN won't help that much (as long as your server is located in that country).
      I switched to cloudflare's paid plan, and that's where the real difference is.
      If you are interested I show the results in this video: ua-cam.com/video/eZvjCJrYfWo/v-deo.html

      check what is causing the slow load time (you can see it in the timeline view).
      Usually it's some 3rd party script. If it is, then there is good tutorial here: kinsta.com/blog/defer-parsing-of-javascript/ that explains how to defer the script.

      For example webpagetest doesn't trigger this issue: www.webpagetest.org/result/210206_DiRR_995f95239ef69f47c67aa7747698a9a4/

      @@tipswithpunch at the very end of the video you mention that using an CDN is "not that necessary". While I and I assume many more people have set up the CDN following your steps in th video. A pure waste of time. Thus: next time, mention in the first 30 seconds that it is not that necessary.

    • @tipswithpunch
      @tipswithpunch  3 роки тому

      Sorry if this wasted your time. I think I expressed myself wrongly. CDN can be extremely useful, especially if you have users coming from different continents. If all your users are in same country as your server, then it's not that useful.
      In this video, I show you how to set it up. For most people this will speed up their website.
      However, you need to keep in mind that it's a free service, so obviously it's not the best CDN out there. If you upgrade to the Pro plan, or go with another CDN provider, you might see much better results.
      Pretty much all bigger websites use a CDN, especially for images etc.
      So the free CDN didn't do much for my optimized website, it doesn't mean it's not necessary for your website. You should always test how it goes, because sometimes it might even slow down your website.
