I was wondering what the significance of the drill was. So what's all the leg movements about?

@@splashdownuk1 Everything on the euzona has a meaning, for example, the red color on the hat symbolizes the blood shed for the freedom of Greece, the fustanela (is the skirt) has 400 doubles and symbolizes the 400 years of slavery by the Turks, the The white color of the uniform symbolizes the purity of the national struggle, the fringes of the uniform are white and blue like the Greek flag, it is worth noting that these soldiers serve voluntarily in the presidential guard, thus showing their patriotic conscience, I quote a link for more information el.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CE%95%CF%8D%CE%B6%CF%89%CE%BD%CE%B5%CF%82

@@splashdownuk1 On top of the very helpful info provided by Intamre Ksanigeis. This site is the only site I came across after reading through five that have a short description of the leg movement. The ceremonial movements are slow to help blood circulation as they’ve been standing 60mins COMPLETELY motionless. My mate in Athens also told me the same thing, I just wanted to find it online so you could see.

via Donar W. In costume terms, some things will have to change if we want the evzones to be more like the fighters of 1821, the Macedonian (northern Greek) fighters, etc. Basically the uniforms used now are the costumes carried by the Evzone battalions of the regular army from the mid-19th century to the BEP, that is, they looked like the Greek costumes but too varied to meet the daily needs of the army. Now there is no such need, the Guard is to pay tribute and for foreigners to see and learn Greek History.
1.The official kilt of the soldiers is very short, normally it is below the knee or at least on the knee like that of the officers, especially when the soldier is over 1.90. The sleeves of the fermeli in the official uniform must be worn by the soldiers, as in the past
    3. The summer doulamas is a very poor outfit. It should be replaced immediately perhaps with a fustanella of no white color and a light collar on the shirt, as it is now bursting from the heat. Also in the summer you could use the breeches as guards carrying and a gun and a Cretan knife. 4. The winter doulamas of the Macedonian (northern Greek) fighter should be longer with the addition of a fustanella from the inside, as the Macedonian (northern Greek) fighters really wore it.
    5. In the official the officers must have a long belt or a silah to remind of the chieftains of 1821

Lord Byron: - Albanians in their National Costumes are the greatest in the World !
Now fustanella in Greece, a traditional bastardized Albanian costume!
The traditional Albanian dress was stolen by the greeks at the time of the creation of the state after the revolution of 1821 and this was done at the request of King Otto. !

    • @lagrece

What ?? Lord Byron said exactly the opposite😂. Foustanella has 400 pietes which sympolize 400 years og Turkish occupation , it has on it greek letters to show the origin and the religion and it has on it also the tree of Manis. According to research from Greece, Great Britain ,France , Turkey , Germany , Albanians were allies with Turks and they were the same clothes with them. You should know that Greeks wear foustanella since 13th century . What King Otto said , is that HE is going to wear foustanella to feel near at the Greeks. Also , foustanella is the evolution of ancient greek mandias.
As an Italian historian said , Albanians should stop ssying that everything is Albanian.
Travellers of 18th and 19th centuries said that foustanella is the greek traditional cloth.
Albania should stop that hillarious propaganda because it's ridiculous while there are manuscripts from all over the world that claim that foustanella is greek

they are gay. no army dress with skirts and that kind of outfit. they are 100% GAY. is nothing rare since in the ancient Greece gays were very popular even the greatest philosophers were gay : Socrates, Plato, Aristoteles, etc, etc, and the 300 from Spate were all gays. History says that.
