I love how when it comes to showing a character being good at Math, they are made to solve some normal equations with high numbers because the general audience wouldnt understand high level algebra.

The fact is that koenji answered the last question without even seeing it that shows that how smart koenji is😮.
Please be obvious, I know he has great intuition but flash mental arithmetic is about calculating numbers in a flash and you needs to be quite precise while calculating. A single wrong digit can get whole problem wrong if you have solved. So, it not making sense.

and the fact is he didn't even look at the questions of level 1 because he knows he can do them without any problem and when the end question came of lvl 10 he knows this will be worthy or high level for mere mortal students in his class so he look at the last question and the reason why he gave answer to show his supremacy which can proves that if he can solve something of lvl 10 than of course he can do easy one
When you read the novel koenji always shows his feat when situation is bizzare or one sided which also makes him look superior to other (seconds survival exam,or finding the VIP etc)

Props for them to have done a good adaptation of the event selection exam, although they skipped a lot about the events, the students and some more.
In the lightnovel, for the mental arithmetic, it was 15 three digit numbers flashed onscreen all in 1.6 seconds which was why it was deemed impossible since it happened in an instant.
It's not ,pacing bad, some chapters, illustration + Ryuen v ichinose skipped

When tsukishiro changed ayanokoji's move in chess, ayanokoji technically fighting against a super computer and several operatives and chess players constantly analysing his moves and guessing his best move to change it. Ayanokoji made his moves too fast for them to keep up until both sakayanagi and ayanokoji started slowing down their moves which became more limited at the end. Tsukishiro had a room full of those guys trying to make ayanokoji lose which he was only able to do at the end when he finally got an opportunity.
It was 1.6 seconds, not less than a second.

wonderful episode! there would be so many things to say that I wouldn't be able to express just by writing... the challenge itself, the way it was structured, was beautiful, it gripped me more than any other episode of this season, but I'm seriously starting to think about who whether it's really Koenji, that calculation done well with my eyes closed, which was the most difficult, shook me a lot. I got very angry at the fact that Tsukishiro had a hand in things he shouldn't have, I'm happy with Sakayanagi's loyalty towards Ayanokoij who, let's say, he almost "admitted" (in fact he later lost the chess game) that if Tsukichiro hadn't interfered, Ayanokoji would have won, after all even the backstory is beautiful but after all that Tsukichiro bothers me too much I swear I just can't watch him because of how bad he is towards Ayanokoij. this end of the season is incredible!

No... 100% of everyone can't answer these questions. Because there aren't any. No operators, no context, no additional notes or instructions, just random numbers. These students all assumed they were meant to add the numbers together, and they assumed wrong. It's not even a cipher (at least, not in English...)
