You gotta teach em your chicken call. Call them the same way each time then give them a treat. That way they could be a mile away but as long as they hear it they will come running every time!! 👍👍😁

I like that idea, they usually just run up to me though without calling them they’re very friendly

I also wanted to THANK YOU for all the great videos on feeding chickens rice and beans, and "GrubTerra". My grand daughter and I got 6 Barred Rock and 4 Bantam chicks that are now 4 weeks old. She was not excited about trying NKF method of hard uncooked brown rice on "her babies" but she was very willing to put a dish of cooked brown rice laced w/scrambled egg alongside their TSC starter feed. They LOVED the brown rice and egg, and I believe that one bag of TSC feed will last the rest of the year!!! The chicks are growing so fast and are so lively, we are about to put them in a 3rd bigger "brooder box". It is still too cold & wet up here to put them in an unheated outside pen.

That’s awesome! I’m glad they’re trying that out along with the starter feed, I’m sure those chickens will grow very fast. I still want to try that KNF method myself with the uncooked rice and see how that goes.

I've watched your video several times because the CUTE factor is off the charts!! I did want to ask if you still have quail and if their purpose is "Cute Factor" and "Fun Experiment" ( I have plenty of those in the garden!!) . Watching your videos on the quail they seem too small for meat or eggs.

Thanks Annie! I got rid of the quail a few months ago. I just never had the same fun relationship with them as with the chickens. They can also be pretty nasty and violent to each other, I had several quail die from other quail pecking their heads off until they bled to death. I think they were roosters competing with other roosters. And the eggs were neat but too small and yes their bodies also were too small for meat I agree, although they can get pretty big they’re still small birds.

Haha exactly. Something about these birds and how we raised them and hatched them ourselves and handled them so much as chicks I think make them extra friendly and calm.
