    Also shoutout to Underdog for giving me a great location to shoot this. If you want to draft any of the rookies I talked about in this video (or any video), even before they are drafted, there are Best Ball drafts open right now over on Underdog where you can draft as many of them as you want for 2023. Here is my link, which also has a deposit match up to $100 with promo code "BRETT" if you are interested -- play.underdogfantasy.com/p-brett-kollmann

    For multi-year deals with a signing bonus, it is pretty rare that a team puts a base salary in that is more than $2M from what I've seen. It's a neat way to balance out the guarantees you'd expect to see, but doesn't get done in practice all that often. I know that Gilmore contradicts that point, but he was also an mid-April signing and 32.
    Why take on a $5.5M Mike White cap hit when you could have just kept Nick Foles at $3.6M?
    You can keep Buckner and Foles on the same contract and still do everything listed here with $4.5M to start the season.

    Thoughts on the Colts throwing a Curve Ball and taking the best EDGE or Corner available at #4 and then taking Hendon Hooker in the 2nd Round? Saves money by not re-signing Yannick if they go EDGE and gets a top Corner to learn AND pair with Stephon Gilmore if they go CB.
    Hendon Hooker seems to be very underrated. I get he's older, but man. Him paired with Steichen makes as much sense to me as Richardson does, whilst locking in a STUD at another premiere position with #4 Pick.
    Then trade some later round picks OR trade Ryan Kelly to get back into the 2nd Round for Avila and continue your same draft you have here.
    I'm all for the Colts trading Ryan Kelly to save Cap. They have Danny Pinter who had actually played better more consistently at Center than Kelly last year, even though he was ASS at Guard for whatever reason. So trade Kelly and a late round pick or 2 for a 2nd Round pick and lock in more players of need.
    I liked your draft here, but curious on your thoughts of this scenario? Premier EDGE or CB at #4, Hooker in the 2nd and some sort of trade to get back into the 2nd/3rd to get quality O-Line/DB/LB/WR help? Feels like shit I'd do in Madden, but it makes a lot of sense to me for some reason.
    Hooker doesn't run like a damn Runningback like Jalen Hurts did for Steichen this year. But he's pretty mobile, and his arm talent definitely has a higher ceiling than Hurts in my opinion. His pocket awareness/movement may not be like Richardson either, but I still think he could be damn near just as effective as AR15 while locking in a GAMER at another big-time position of need.

    • @t4d0W
      @t4d0W Рік тому

      Hooker seems like the most Ballard move to make if he really wanted to lose his job. Being a good GM means actually taking big risk/rewards at picking a QB in the draft, one thing which Ballard has never put himself in a position for. He wont keep his position if all he ever did was win out finding long term gems in secondary fringe positions (LB, OG, RB, DT somewhat) but not address long term situations for positions that matter most (QB, EDGE, CB, WR).

    I’m thinking the best option is Cj. I mean he’s confident and mature. He comes from the same cloth as Fields. Both hard nosed kids that are not going to give up on a play. He’s accurate too.

    Richardson is an absolutely gifted athlete, but the Colts need a starting QB. In my opinion, Stroud is the #1 QB in this draft. Young is 2nd, Levis is 3rd. Richardson needs a lot of work at the position. He reminds of Vince Young, an incredible athlete with questions about his ability to translate his game to the next level. If you do take Richardson, you need a solid veteran presence that can start this year (Derek Carr, Gardner Minshew etc.). I also wouldn’t sleep on Hendon Hooker. He’s not the ideal prospect given his age and injury history, but he might be worth a look if Stroud/Young/Levis aren’t available.

    @NDependentColts Рік тому

    If Colts draft Richardson, I’ll stop watching the Colts. The guy is not a winner and was pretty awful last year outside of his Utah game (1st game of season) and highlight reel of 70 yard runs and 60 yard bombs. Immature, can’t read a defense, relies on legs too much, inconsistent and inaccurate as hell - he’s bottom 5 in the SEC in almost every passing category… without saying “combine”, explain to me how that is a first round QB?

  • @mosespf
    @mosespf Рік тому

    why would Parris Campbell ever do that lol
    Parris, if you’re reading this, some team is probably gonna offer something around a 2 year / 18-20 million dollar deal, take that!

    Absolutely love every move here. A few things I would tweak and also a few things I fear:
    -We need to cut Kenny and get out from under the contract. I love the guy but it didn’t seem like he wanted to be here at the end of the year last year. He also can’t cover a good slot WR and he can’t play outside
    -I am AFRAID that both Nelson and Leonard are never going to live up to the fat contracts we gave them. Both are fantastic players and are on HOF tracks so far but they play at two non impact positions on the field. A guard and an off ball LB are not the difference makers on the KC or Phillys of the NFL. They both deserve another year but I’m VERY worried especially about Leonard and his health.
    -I know Okereke may just be too expensive to keep but as of right now he’s the only LB we have that can cover the pass. Speed and Franklin both stuff the run very well but Okereke can take the RB or TE so I would love to see if we can’t maybe keep him pending us cutting Kenny.
    -I also LOVE the AR15 pick. He has easily the highest ceiling of the class and pairing him with Steichen is a dream come true.
    All in all great video my man!

    I don't understand letting Foles walk to pick up White. In my mind, if Richardson goes down you're toast anyway. The team is already rebuilding. Foles has won a Super bowl and has experience as a starter for years. I'd want him in the room over White. Sure he'd suck if he played but I want to focus on development.

  • @lw7293

    Brett Kollmann So you're ok with Richardson starting from day 1 with White and Ellinger as the veteran back ups, another lost year for the Colts?

  • @Stoneflyfish
    @Stoneflyfish Рік тому

    I love alot of what you did, but Yannick is not worth an extension. If you contextualize his 10 sacks last year, like 6 of them were weird gimme plays, not to mention his horrible run defense. I’d personally let him go and play a young guy instead.

    I can't see Ballard ever drafting Reed. Ballard has a noticeable trend in the kind of WRs he drafts. They're tall, physical, and have a very high RAS. Reed just doesn't fit that mold.

  • @Randomguy-sg2qg
    @Randomguy-sg2qg Рік тому

    I don't really see Ballard drafting a project QB when he's on the hot seat. Richardson's an incredible athlete but a 53% completion rate is really bad and he needs a lot of polish. If I was a GM I would much rather bet my career on Young or Stroud.

  • @jcoogs7149
    @jcoogs7149 Рік тому

    I think something that would be helpful when hearing NFL comparisons is to get a ceiling comparison and a realistic comparison - I feel like draft projections always want to talk about what a guy could be. Just one time I want to hear a draft analyst say "idk this guy is probably just a depth piece but those are valuable too"

    I’m just saying, you can feel what you’d like, but Pat bringing you on first thing to bury you and make you kiss the ring infront of his much larger audience was pretty gross. You just lost ur dad, ur trying to fund another dad’s funeral, that’s your side, his side is that he didn’t like a tweet. Last show of his I’ll watch, he’s become what he hates. Being brought into the TV network’s office used to be the scariest thing in the industry, now it’s getting run thru on pat’s show and he doesn’t see it.
