So many Thanks for the in depth review. It's hard to find a real quality review of the 2wd as the popularity of the VXL 4x4 has really taken over. I own almost the complete line of Arrma 6s vehicles, a UDR, etc... bought my daughter the bandit xl-5 and I had more fun driving that thing than almost any of my bigger vehicles. There are few cars that are fun to drive slow.... and I feel I need a rustler in my life.
@@SuperFastRc I learned my lesson with a few vehicles, sold the UDR once... but some cars just have soul. So now I have another one. PS: Your influence prevailed and my 2wd should be here next week!
There is a way to fix the body from cracking further. You use Shoe Goo and drywall tape to make the body nearly indestructible. ua-cam.com/video/kbxi9sus5S8/v-deo.html
Thanks for the video. I just got a free Rustler 2WD from a co-worker I posted a shorts video of it in my channel. It'll be a project for me to upgrade stuff for it. What other Brushless motor and esc would you recommend? I saw Castle sidewinder, Hobbywing and Dynamite Tazer. I don't plan on going faster than 60mph on it just 40-50mph tops is good.
I've gotta say...there's something to be said about the smoothness of brushed power. The brushless stuff I've found unruly to drive fast and hard on driveline components. I may get the XL-5 version.
There's the old adage that it's funnier to drive a slow car fast. I think it also applies here. My kid has a 2wd brushed buggy that kills my brushless 4wd on our home made track as it is so much more controllable. Mine goes flying at the slightest mistake. It's frustrating.
Great job! You covered the Rustler VXL extremely well. It's a great little car and well worth having in your collection. 👍👍
Thank you for the support 👍

Yes! You need one! And once you get it never trade it off just keep it!

@@zer02garage83 Are they still on sale?
I had a bit of work tracking one down, but luckily Amain had some in stock. The local shops didn't
Awesome review sir. I just bought one with the 272r trans. I'm mainly going to use it on road for speed runs.
It should serve you with years of fun!
Hey it’s Ron’s son Randon, I already cracked my body shell, but my rustler 4x4 Max speed is 40mph, it does great!

You could probably get by with a cheap surpass hobby system off amazon to be honest
Good review
Thank you! 👍
What tires are better? The Louise Pioneer SCT wheels is this a good choice?
I was thinking the proline lpr badlands myself
What's the biggest battery that gave you the most speed? Batter Specs?
These to be exact!

This is true, the brushless is ballistic but you can turn it down to training mode to act like an xl-5 if you want

@@RickOAA All about throttle control!
Nice video dude!
Does anyone know if you can adapt the clipless body to a rustler xl-5?
I don’t think any clipless solutions for the 2wd platforms are available.
The 4x4 is totally different layout so i don’t think it would work :/
I have a rustler xl5 and before I put the brushless in it I had a drive shaft knuckle twist on me when my son was driving it, somehow lol
Yep the brushless will twist those plastic ones for sure!
@@SuperFastRc shoot man it did it with the brushed in there lol I have no clue how he did it
I half a rusler to
Mine is not brushes
I got mine for 6 dollars from good will
Lol you sir are very lucky
The tires are junk
Yep Couldn’t agree more
I blew them off
