It’s kind of sad though because of greed and perfection twisted people took something that was meant to be fun and made it all about what they wanted. Did it ever occur to them that maybe if they didn’t set all those ridiculous standards they still could have made good shows.

Bridgit Mendler or some other actress should’ve been Sonny instead. She auditioned for the role but as we all know, Demi won the role. And I still think they should’ve turned it down. They knew what they were getting themselves into with their mental health problems and substance abuse problems and their music career and the Camp Rock movies and they could’ve taken as long of a break in rehab as they needed instead of adding even more burden on themselves by TAKING THE TITULAR LEAD ROLE IN A TV SERIES! And we all know what happened; the show got cancelled because of her.
One of the things I hate the most is when a single IP is ruined by a single person’s terrible decisions. And this one of them. What’s even worse was that they were apparently assaulted during the filming of Camp Rock which was one of the biggest factors for their downward trajectory. If this was one of the reasons why you or some people hate Sonny With a Chance or just don’t want to watch it, I completely get it. And Disney needs to get called out on their misdeeds as much as Nickelodeon. I haven’t seen this doc yet but I hope they’re doing it at least a little bit.

I'm honestly starting to agree with Alyson Stoner on children just should not be allowed to act. Period. Laws already exist, people break them anyway and the child suffers the consequences. As much as I loved seeing people like me on TV growing up, I don't want another generation going through what the people I grew up with went through. ESPECIALLY in working conditions like Disney. My lord.

We'll see, I honestly doubt it. The only thing they may change are so many sexual jokes in shows, so it doesn't look like kids or teens are doing sexual acts on random objects. If they change that though it's most likely just to keep people from looking for the predators in the networks or production teams of shows. Let's be real, with how many kids and teens are in shows and movies now as main characters or reoccurring side characters, movie and TV sets are the perfect job for a predator to be near children and make them do things when no one's looking. Why? Because they're kids, they don't know what or where to be unless they're told or escorted by an adult. Sure parents get to be with their children, but not 100% of the time.

@@losergoddess6277 exactly! People break laws all the time everyday and some don't even give it a second thought. Hell there are people that run stop signs all the time. That's breaking a law, but the ones who don't care and just want to do what they want, or have what they want when they want it, will not care about the laws, no matter how big or smallt the crime is. They just see the final outcome, getting what they want, or doing what they want.

Such aspects of child stardom aren't new at all; it's just that when the advent of social media finally came to be, it further complicated and compromised the natural order of child stars, especially through puberty. I continue to extend my respect to Demi, Alyson and the others in this documentary to giving young entertainers the proper safe spaces that are so important.

I was in so much pain during my teen years; I joined the drama department in my high school, and it completely changed me. I wasn't sleeping, I was failing a lot of my classes, and, because my father refused to let me change schools, I took up binge-drinking to cope, ultimately attempting to take my own life twice. So often, I am called out for supposed "crazy behavior" from those days, and, while I a hundred percent believe it happened, I can hardly remember those years, due to blacking out from the drinking, and just mentally blocking out the rest. It's been twelve years since I graduated high school, but I am still haunted by what I do remember, and constantly have nightmares about having to go back.

My take on it is like most things people find shocking is why. This is not the first time these issues have been raised yet it continues to happen. And people still get shocked is beyond me. The shock will come when something is finally done, and you will have a child star talk about how fun it was to be one. We repeat cycles of distress in everything and never make corrections or learn lessons because if we did, we would not be "horrified" of the mistreatment of children in 2024 when child actors in the 1900s experienced similar fates. Nothing was "revealed" more stories were highlighted and added to the already long list in an industry that is greedy for money and always has been and always will be.

I use a posture control Kaye walker and a Rovi x3 power wheelchair for mobility. I figured having a small career on Nickelodeon or Disney Channel could help improve my social inclusion. My high school refused to make accommodations for me to take acting classes, chorus classes, and movie criticism classes. Now I understand why my mom and the majority of my family was so hesitant about paying for my classes and my headshots. I’m 29 years old. I want to apologize to the lord. I want to apologize for scoffing at his words. I was born with Cerebral Palsy. As a teenager, I wanted to star on a show on Nickelodeon to improve my social inclusion. My heart was so corrupted by my own greed and envy It never occurred to me that the people who made me laugh in my favorite TV shows were hiding their pain in their eyes, and the sadness behind their smiles. I want to recover from my trauma. These actors want to recover from their trauma too. I finally understand it. I finally understand that I’m graduating in my late 20’s because this is all part of God’s timing. Only God knows when I’ll be married, when I’ll have a great social life, and when my career will begin. I just have to keep trusting him.
My prayers go out to Drake Bell. Hearing him talking about these horrible things was never going to be easy. However, I hope what Drake did with his bravery can help other actors speak up about any personal misconduct. Drake Bell really did prove to me that when it comes to being a TV star, there is a sense of darkness, that even the bright lights of Hollywood can never hide.

I'd loved to hear from some "Child-Stars" outside of these 2 comglomerates who somehow managed it to not "SNAP" into "Addiction-" and Mentla Health crap or if they did, that their familie background was supportive and could get the help they need with seems not unsually Disney-&-Nickelodeon Parents aren't always metnally, financially able to do for their Offsprings as well.

Ugh I’m sorry but ever since Demi lovato punched her backup dancer and being a terrible friend to Selena Gomez i can’t stand her anymore that’s why I didn’t watch this documentary! She literally called a froyo shop “diet vultures” and then refused to apologize to them!

Not true at all. Selena disappeared when demi went to rehab. It has been spoken about multiple times. When Selena left rehab years later demi had forgiven her and was there for her
