DeFeis' voice was totally out of this world till the mid to late nineties. Rarely ever heard a voice that strong, roaring, over the top emotional and tender at times. He was a vocal god. I like what he did till incl. Visions of Eden, afterwards he sounds like he totally shot his voice which makes me really sad.
I think he was a vocal god also on the album from 2010, his problems with his vocals started somewhere in 2011 or 2012, you can hear it in their last two albums from 2015 and 2018, but in my humble opinion he's not just a vocal god but also a metal god.
@@RobertWeingher I can partially confirm. I saw VS in 2010 in a whole acoustic set (ua-cam.com/video/CAbNPpGgwTQ/v-deo.html), mainly with Pursino playing acoustic guitar (and very few apparitions of Joshua Block), and David voice was close to being horrible, just using falsetto all the time and roaring all the time. Saw them also during the Invictus tour (1998) and David was great. So voice was already shot in 2010 (the acoustic concert was in february 2010). There are around a few lives from 2007 (ua-cam.com/video/dXFzSTnCmPk/v-deo.html) and David voice sounds bad as fuck

@@hefenzy I see a few on your list I still need to get to! But I'm glad I've got more to discover. There were enough great bands in the 80s to last a century. Amazing what we had back then and didn't even know it. Meanwhile, this thin-blooded generation today barely has any metal to give.
This really is a fantastic album. While it *is* likely "classic" Heavy Metal, it has lots of other elements including some things I recognize from gothic bands and power metal like Manowar. That's a winning combination for me. "Tragedy" could be a Sisters of Mercy cover.
I prefer this tracks order so much. I love the songs added in the remastered (perfect mansions and serpent's kiss are top notch VS masterpieces) but without them AoC is more balanced imho
I’m such an idiot. I’m from Long Island where VS is from; I always dismissed these guys because when they were big here always gigging I wasn’t into that style, I was into 1000 mph face ripping thrash. Maybe the keyboards threw me off plus the word “virgin” in the name😂 and also making a video with Joey Buttafuoco didn’t help. But they really did have some great stuff, them and Riot were very important bands to the genre.
This sleeve is way much cooler and so very much VS; the cd edition's one is a bit pretentious (but that's also very VS - to issue 2 versions of same albums with differently "tasted" sleeves…). A true metal heart must love this album. Not all transitions are made with this fire and control...
It's hard to say which is the best Virgin Steele album of 80s, for me it's a toss up between this album and Noble Savage, but I don't think that any song on Age of Consent is as epic as Noble Savage title track, or ''Obsession (it burns for you)'' But yeah I love all tracks on this album.
Ey ke buena Onda Muy Buen Canal Metálico Amigo! Me suscribí y me creció el pito (No es broma). Que a SEGUIR ASÍ y Que yo siempre les apoyé y un saludo a mi mujercita Mars.
there is indeed a kind of similarity between the two songs but its about the verses only, definitely NOT a rip off song! Can you mention other songs of VS which are rip offs according to your opinion(since you said that "all their stuff rips off other songs"...)?

The Burning of Rome (Cry for Pompeii) is masterpiece.
It’s one of the most epic songs I’ve ever heard

The burning of rome es un temazo ¡
Absolutely - and a very emotional song when you pay attention to the words too. 'I'll meet you again through the eyes of our son'.
Masterpiece! It has heavy metal, power metal, hard rock, even a touch of AOR! Classy!
One of the best heavy metal albums of the 80's!!!!

@@cybertalos first lyrics of the first song. Could've been a great song to have in an 80s action movie montage scene

Muito bom, esse Heavy Metal "fantasia" 80s é top
Barbaric romantic music!
The album where David truly found his singing voice! Magnificent performance.
The most UNDERRATED albuns of 80's metal: Headless Cross, Eternal Dark and Age of Consent.

Headless Cross is amazing. Looking forward to the Tony Martin reissues on vinyl, whenever that happens lol

Reminds me alot of the Roy Kahn era of Kamelot. Very awesome stuff.
I love Kamelot too but I really don't get that comparison to be honest.
@@powerprogchild4267 Exactly. This sounds more like a mix of Warlock and Manowar.
Perfeito!
Criminally underrated heavy bands list: Virgin Steele, Angel Witch, Pariah, Mad Parish, Aria (last one is known but only between Russians)
Aria... also known as Russian Iron Maiden :D
I would add Cirith Ungol, Cobra and Ritual to that list. Right on, man. Angel Witch is absolutely killer.
