At 6:57 is where the truck stopped to wait for David Mann and when David sees the truck he screeches to a halt in the middle of the road and almost gets hit by a station wagon. At 9:45 is where David Mann ran his car off the road and hid by the train tracks and waited for the truck to pass him by. He falls asleep and the train wakes him up (thinking it's the truck) 18:07 is where the School Bus scene was filmed They also filmed a bunch of the chase scene on a road that is parallel to this road with the freight train (back near that 6:57 mark)
Wow, the whole trip in real time! Nice job. Just as a matter of information, only a small portion of Duel was actually shot on Soledad Canyon Road. A lot was shot on the Sierra Hwy which is the location of Chuck's Cafe at a small settlement called The Oaks. The railroad crossing where the Truck tries to push David Mann's car into the passing freight train no longer exists (Metrolink re-routed the tracks onto a high fill on the other side of the road to eliminate the crossing). The "Snakerama" Gas Station was near the town of Pearblossom. The part where David Mann's car over-heated was shot on Godde Hill Rd. in Leona Valley just West of Palmdale (only the West side of the pass was used). The Grand Finale where the car and truck dive-off the cliff was shot on Mesa Rd. just off Vasquez Canyon Rd. near Forest Park.
I wish there was a "DUEL FAN FESTIVAL" Where fans can gather and see all the famous sites throughout the film and any other entertainment that can be thought of I would travel for that Seems there are many Duel fans!
Awesome video, it looks the same as in Duel except for some of the irrigated land in the valley. The cuttings through the rock look original and the road doesn't appear to be upgraded in any way. Glad to see light traffic as the area appears just as isolated as in the original movie
I just watched Duel for the first time in over thirty years, and am finding UA-cam videos on the shooting locations. I came across yours and watched it straight through and enjoyed it. What does that say about me? Two months ago I bought a dashcam which has latitude and longitude annotation, and someday I will drive this stretch and the other Duel location shots and post them to UA-cam. Thanks for posting this.
When Svengoolie showed the Duel movie, there's another movie though only during it's climax was filmed on this road too that's called X: The Man With The X-ray Eyes from 1963 and Sven pointed that out too before the commercial break.
@390merc65 - Hi! Yes you are correct. I should have updated the description! Sorry, I just set them all uploading when I got back. Ill update the description now.

It's amazing how little the area had changed. I recognise most of the landscape. Great video m8, I am DUEL's biggest fan!

More vital information referencing the classic movie above then the damn drive video
Some sources, though, say that even given all that you've mentioned, most of the movie still was shot on Soledad Canyon Road.

After visiting my son in Santa Clarita I drove down this section of Soledad heading back to the AV.
I want you to cut it out...
For the impatient: the famous tunnel from duel can jump to 18:00

24 season 4 had a scene filmed at 08:00.

Twin Peaks: the Return was also filmed in part on Soledad Canyon Road
Fantastic meeting at 15:16, very good !!!
Tv series Roswell 1999 to 2002 I was in that road in 2012 is definitely a magic place.
Fantastic video!! I'd love to visit the locations in this movie but unfortunately I live in Scotland and the airfare is a bit steep.
Great video....all you needed was a red hood...a red VALIANT hood!
Thanks!! Great clip!!
I notice you didn't pass up the white truck .
Love that film!
I can think of the truck sitting right at the end of the tunnel then turns the lights on
