WHAT IS HIGH GRADE STONE?
Anything you can run a 1/2" or more flake with a pressure flaker.
HEAT TREATING:
Heat treat a few FLAKES of everything you got except HIGH GRADE Raw Stone, Obsidian, Dacite, Basalt, Hornstone, Sonora, Fort Payne, or Rhyolite. Start with flakes and spalls less than 1" thick for 200°F for 24 hours to dry it out. Then raise the temp to 275°F and hold for 4 hours. Let cool down for 12 hours. Chip and compare. If no difference, put back I at 200°F for 1/2 hour, then raise to 275 for 1/2 hour, then raise to 325 for 4 hours.

Repeat with temp going up 50°F until you reach 600°F or nice chippable stone. Whichever comes first. If no good result, or things blow up, let us know. - Навчання та стиль
im 33 and i picked up this hobby its really enjoyable.
Nice!
Talking of war wounds, I’ve found I have tried to take up knapping too late in life. Arthritis in my hands gets set off by the shock of the direct percussion, to the point that it’s just not any fun. I’m 77 now, and wish I had found you ten or more years ago. Boomer but not a baby!😜🤪
I’ve told you before but I really enjoy watching you work that amber Georgia flint. Truly it’s really beautiful material. I also agree a parent must forget and forgive all the bad or stupid stuff their kids did when growing up. “Let it go like a puff of smoke in the wind “, is excellent advise.
I’m only thirty, however most of my music taste is from the 70s lol, another good video, keep em coming 🙏🏻👍
The 70's was good for music.
Jack, i watch all of your videos. Im starting to make a few arrowheads that are worth having now. I believe Ive gotten better at finding good material to work with. I keep the really nice ones, theyre mounted and hung up on what my wife calls my "I love me" wall. It takes a lot of perseverance to get there. Its like learning to play chess. You have to lose about a hundred games before you learn how to checkmate.
True
Premature cruncheration .... I like it.
Hehe...
Almost all the flint in my part of indiana looks like that all the way through the large or small rocks. It's like knapping rock salt. I was told if you can get 1 arrowhead out of a boulder it is a good day.
Oh dang
Yea Jack....the " Trix" is to " Sugar Smack" it...yea, that's it..😝😆😂
😁
Great work Patrick, I do like that colour, but very few stones like that here. Thanks!!
Where are you located?
Oh I live in Denmark, I am not complaining,,I have flint to work on..Knapping is just a nice hobby for me, along with painting and making music:)

Happy Birthday, I made the 60 back in April. I have a bum left knee. Are you going to make Flint Ridge?
I might.
Maybe freeze cracked
Hey Mr Crafty, have you ever considered damage like that being done to a buried rock either in earth or water or ice, could have been subjected to a forest fire?
Yes, it's possible.
Well you got at least one 21 year old watching consistently lol
Sweet!
Great job!

can you show how you heat treat and knap bull rock?
You must be new here.
@@KnapperJackCrafty I’ve watched your vids for about 8 months now. I mainly Knapp bull rock since it’s the most abundant and having trouble knapping and heat treating it
@@ewa8723 I see. OK. I'll do a deep dive into the subject soon.
Never heard of bull rock
How about leaving it the way it is , nothing is perfect, it fin how it is
I can't just leave it the way it is because I'm going to sell it. 😉
It looks like river tumble damage to me
Kind of. River tumble damage doesn't penetrate this far. And river tumble damage has lots of incipient bulbs of percussion. I don't see bulbs of percussion in the cortex of this piece.
@@KnapperJackCrafty oh I've seen river tumble damage just like this especially from waterfall stones or stones from a fast river
I’m 14 and I Knapp
Awesome. 😁👍 You are a very rare individual.
I'm 80 and just starting.
Jacob keep the tradition I'm sure a lot of ppl would love to see you practicing
