- With its triple-track mainline, the BNSF San Bernardino subdivision hosts upwards of 100 trains per day including BNSF, Amtrak and Metrolink. Right outside of our offices in Fullerton, California, we caught some of the action over a few month period. Watch as freights rumble through the station, and Metrolink trains screech into the station to end their day.

I was down there in 2009 during the summertime. It's just amazing how many trains run there between BNSF, Metrolink, and Amtrak's Surfliner and long haul service! It would take me forever to get qualified on the San Bernardino and San Diego Subs! Great catches!

@AMTK510 The tally is more like roughly: Amtrak X 26 (Surfliners North & South, plus the Southwest Chief twice daily); Metrolink X 34 (Orange County Line + 91 Line); BNSF X 40-50 with lots of EB/WB Stacks, TOFC, Ethanol, Manifests and numerous La Mirada Locals. So, even in a down economy this place still rumbles all day long...believe us, we watch it all day long.
Yeah, that's the UP anaheim yard, nothing from there goes through Fullerton, and it's a small yard. And yes, they're literally 40 feet from the train station (BLMA)

@AMTK510 isnt there also a freight yard near Disneyland Resort? I've seen some Union Pacific Genset switchers over in that area (near the Anaheim Police Station).

@5292Nate They were 50mph for years on all three tracks; however, recently the freight speed was lowered to 40mph. Considering this video was shot prior to those changes, top speed at the time would have still been 50.

I'm surprised to see that Metrolink is/was still using their bombardier cabcars. I have seen them in a Metrolink train but not in as a cabcar.

The bagdad detector out on the Needles Subdivision sees 95% of what Fullerton does. On a VERY good day, it sees 70 trains. Only 35% of those see Fullerton, as Manifest stop in Barstow, intermodal go to the bay / san bernardino instead, etc. etc. I've spent 6am-9pm at Fullerton countless times in the previous years, and my best day was 27.

thats ok, it was worth to ask anyway. Another thing, is it a new practice of BNSF to stick extra engines at the end of their trains now? I saw that a lot while I was eating at the Spaghetti factory right by the fullerton train station
That's an interesting looking car at the end of the train at 4:38. I assume it's a cab car?

I'm not with BLMA. I just have been to Fullerton plenty of times. I believe you can go there, yes.
100? I don't think so ... with the economy as it is these days ... try about 15 or so amtrak, 25 metrolink, and on a good day, 25 freight.
Jack London is better WAY BETTER. What are the next few cities these manifest pass when heading west?
