As always. So many new ideas and putting a name to what we are doing (or trying to do) unknowingly. I have a collection of 75ish songs that I play with my ukulele group. A year ago it’s just root notes, then root and fifth, then root third and fifth. Now I recognize what I’m headed for in this video.
@@AnnWheatcroft YES! That's exciting because finding those connections between the chords and coming up with melodic bass lines is so satisfying. Very excited for you
At times you read how some say bass players can be good producers…your video reminds me of that,on how you listen to all thats happening in the song…Good Content 👍
It's true, I think bass players can work naturally in that role because we're at the intersection of the rhythm, melody, and harmony. Also good bassists have a keen awareness of "what the music needs." I always appreciate your comments Kim, thanks for weighing in!
My bf uses classical music to practice drums. Sounds easy, right? Well, the trick is… Follow the rhythm to convert it to a "reggaeton" rhythm. It's so funny to see Mozart with that dum-dum-dum 😂 I guess I'm gonna use the idea to convert songs onto other genre. Sounds funny.

Agree with the importance of not stepping all over the vocals. In general not being too busy over other sonic information is an acquired skill.
Absolutely, acquired skill is the perfect way to put it.
Thank you for teaching this. Quality content
@@mameaw14 truly my pleasure, thanks for watching!
i like itt. now i listen to beethoven.

Excellent! Yeah man, those classical composers had some great bass parts! (Bass, cello, and later low brass)
I think fretless would sound great on this track. Cool ideas, thanks for the lesson!
I didn't even think of that but you're so right. The 'bloom' of those fretless notes would sound so good on this
