This was always one of my very favourite Stompin' Tom song, I'd ask my mom to play it over and over again on long drives to visit my grandparents and I'd always be singing it and laughing along. RIP Stompin Tom Connors, you will be severely missed
I loved this one when I was young my Grandpie Bice played and sang it to me ... love him so much and will miss you Good Old Stompin Tom rest and watch us ....
I get the feeling Tom was sitting on his deck swatting and bitching to Lena about the fucking black flies and she probably said "write a song about it Tom"...lol
From the Canadian Fact Ministry..due to a clerical error in the summer of 1978, this song was officially, and mistakenly adopted as the Canadian national anthem for a period of 21 minutes. It's a Canadian fact.
Ps,, old fashion listerine in a spray bottle when outside camping, fishing, etc,,spray on your face, neck, arms, etc, mouth to while your at it, , most insects detest the mentholatum contents,,it's not sticky, oily, but cool and refreshing, does not stain or smell as strong as you think, original type! tho,,
I don't quite understand the use of the B&W photo of The Flares, other than the fact that their sole hit (in 1961) was "Foot Stompin'." That has more to do with the artist's name than the song itself.
@JORDANatTORNTO Listen, if you don't like, then don't listen to it and save your comments.... There's a huge amount of music, I could vomit when I hear it, so I avoid it and, to be honest, I wouldn't comment any to their videos, it's a bloody waste of my time...
While on my way to see the total eclipse of the sun in '72 (no Lear jet for me), this Yank wandered around New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia, for weeks. Bugs, bugs, bugs was on that radio evr'y liven' day, eh?

@JORDANatTORNTO Stompin Tom is mainly folk songs, so please be more respectful towards a Canadian legend by avoiding calling his music "gay"
