- A short film showing how I make a storyboard for a 32 page illustrated book, a fundamental stage in the planning. Drawing up a schematic of all the pages on a big sheet of paper is a good place to try alternate ways of telling the story, to see what works best. A picture book is constantly being refined, right up to when it goes to print, but this is a good place to begin and to get all the ideas onto paper. It's a proving ground, a sandbox, and all one needs is a pencil and a piece of paper.
See my video about how to make a dummy from your storyboard:

Finally! A USEFUL youtube about storyboarding! THANK YOU!
This is brilliant. I especially like the "dummy" print. Our daughter would love making this with her stories.
Oh Wow! Thank you so much. I'm going to try this as soon as I get home!
I love 20 and 17 - the old lady and the old man :)
Finally, after many years, I'm getting back into my writing and illustrating. Unfortunately, I've lost my story board and dummy for one particular picture book🌼🌻🌺🌸🌷🌹☀
