Guy: "3-studded white piece is the rarest piece of all time" Me with a 3-studded blue piece and a bucket of white paint: "reality can be whatever I want"
The power miners mining station actually used a similar piece, but it was different in key ways. 1) no teeth on the inner portion, 2) the inner portion isn’t empty
To anyone knowledgeable out there, I have a metal factory lego technic price I can't remember what its from but it has to be rare I can't find what it is! Any good places to search it up?
Your definition of rare seems to vary. Some of the parts you mention can be bought for a couple of euros on Bricklink, and even the 'rare' sets they are from go for 20-30 euros on Bricklink. To me, those are 'limited' pieces and sets, 'rare' would mean they are highly sought after and thus carry a hefty price tag.
Unfortunately, I have to disagree...They have high piece quality standards, but the set quality dropped massive while increasing the price...I still have tons of Lego pieces, but if I ever buy a new set, it wont be Lego. It isnt worth the money anymore...
What's funny is that my dad bought the PF droid set, and I remember looking through a ziploc that had most of the parts from that set in it, and thinking that that catch looked really weird! Now, I don't know where that bag is.
ya know, I finally realized what one part in my collection was for, its the body from the hockey sets, I never knew what it was for, wish I had some of the hockey sets, those tool parts and armour parts would have been good for off colour bionicle mocs, and now knowing they came with parts that act like a return to center block, those would be handy for small RC cars, wish I knew about them years ago, had a chance to get one, but did have the money for it
I wished Lego would come out with either a 32 or 44 tooth ring gear with matching carrier for 3 planetary gears. With a 32 tooth ring gear, you can use a 16t gear for the sun gear and 8t gears for the planetary ones. With a 44 tooth ring gear, you can use a 20t gear for the sun and 12t for the planetary gears. They would be perfect for making a model of an industrial robot arm. I may try to 3D print some.
This guy for some reason doesnt count bionicle as lego technic at all in any of his videos, kinda depressing tbh since theres so many unique technic pieces that appeared in the bionicle theme only and never used again, but oh well
Wow! I knew they always looked weird and old, but I never knew how uncommon these changeover catches were! I have quite a few of the brown ones, and I believe two of the tan ones!
wow, i only gone one of these, and thats the shift plate (from the supercar kit). usually for these kinds of videos i have 3 or 4 of them. you really dug up some rarities on this one.
@@Unbrickme No problem :) It came two in a clock set (4393) in 2000. There where three other clocks with green and blue gears in it. The green gear is more common and the blue rarely goes up for sale. But for some reason I cant find the pink clock/gear anywhere.
Wouldn't another good honorable mention be the #89509 14L Propeller Blade? It was a LEGO Technic part released only in one set (#9688 Renewable Energy Set) and costs at least $10 to get on Bricklink.
@@Unbrickme Correction: The 14L Propeller Blade actually came in two sets: the #9688 Renewable Energy Add-On Set AND the much newer #45400 BricQ Motion Prime Set that was just released in Feburary 2021. It still hasn't yet been used in any official LEGO Technic sets, though.

I own a few of these. I bought the dump truck with the red connector blocks in it. Not sure if its the exact same ones but I do own a set of silver wheels like that from the 8466 4x4 Off-Roader (which is also one of 2 sets to include parts in Metallic Green, an awesome color that I wish LEGO had used more of). I don't own the gear shift from the 8880 but I do own the rare light grey steering wheel that is also exclusive to that set. I have a couple pieces which are harder to find than most of these. they are just normal pieces, the cross block 1x3, but miss-molded so the axle hole is rotated by a few degrees so it creates out-of-system connections.
I actually have the record and play set still. I tried it the other day and it actually Works. Unfortunately most of it is all mixed up with my other legos

Those shocks from the 8420 also got adjustable stiffness, which is what really caught my attention.
I have one of those from the motorbike
So I guess without this larger shock absorber you have to connect more than one smaller shock absorber together?
