By the time we were ~10 our father had us sitting in the middle of the bench seat in his pickup running the stick for him. This was a heck of a teaching/learning tool. I remember watching him balance the clutch and throttle whilst listening for the correct RPM timing. It was a cinch operating the vehicle when it came time to learn the other skills of driving.
Most of all that sounds like fancy things that will go wrong sooner or later. The only new feature I appreciate is adaptive cruise. All of the roads around here are 2 lane highways and there is ALWAYS someone who doesn't use their cruise control. That means that they're always speeding up and slowing down, speeding up and slowing down. With my old car I always had to fiddle with the cruise buttons or just turn off the cruise. Now my car speeds up and slows down every time I come across one of those guys.
That will never happen. They need to protect people against themselves 🤷♂️. They need to make the car stop by itself incase people aren't paying attention 🙄
All of the high tech stuff you talked about, I just don't need. They should make some of the cars without any of this technology. It would make them cheaper and easier to repair. If you wanted all this technology then it should of course cost you extra. I did like the little arrow telling you which side of the car to fill the gas tank up,,,,,,,,,,
I still remember when i first seen Scotti as a little kid when he used to come on Houston news channel in the early morning. Now im old AF and cant remember what channel it was on. But who cares. This dude is older then me and in better shape and sharper brain 🧠 then mine. Crazy 🤣✌️
Scotty please do a video on how air bags work. Show us where the Air bag sensor is located on the car and how much crumple pressure it takes for the Air bags to go off. Thank You - Brian Las Vegas 🙂
Adaptive CC is irritating. It is coupled with lane assist and brake assist, so you go into a panic when the car fights you to simply switch lanes to avoid slower drivers.
If you flip the blinker in the direction your going Lane Assist at least on Honda’s and Toyotas will check then allow you to move over without fighting.
My favorite owned car was 71 super beetle, it lasted me for 13 years and I could work on and repair it cheaply. Deutsche cars are too expensive now and too complicated. Their leader helped design the vw bug and wanted it for the common folk and to fit under everyone's carport.
Pedestrians also need to stop watching their phone and watch traffic, I was taught to look both ways before crossing the street when I was 4 years old, but people aren't taught this anymore...obviously
Some of the problem of that is. There some states that have laws saying you must stop when a pedestrian is at a crosswalk, some dont. When I'm in myrtle beach you know the people who live in such states. Locals come to a dead stop if they see you trying to cross the street (even if you are not in a cross walk). Many out of towners will not stop. It shouldn't matter where you are from or what laws you are used to. Do not ever rely on a 2500lb+ vehicle stopping for you. You will die they won't. Vehicles should always have the right away. Leave it to people to use their heads to safely cross a street.... or stay the hell off the road. Roads are for cars not pedestrians. Except school zones and other areas where the speed limit is 25 and under. 30mph and above, pedestrians use your head
Far too much going on to distract the driver, only recently outside my house someone rear ended a car by being distracted changing the radio station and they had only driven less than 30 feet but did enough damage to write off both cars,

I drove a brand new Camry from Vegas to Chicago last year, and it would take a “slight” curve all on its own. And it would maintain its speed and distance from the car in front of me. I’m sure Scotty went over features like that, but it’s a real deal. I got a speeding ticket from a Mesquite NV city cop on the interstate, which was not too cool, but I was doing 90. That was a picturesque drive- until I got into Nebraska. Then it was a flat, long haul till I got on the Dan Ryan and fired up a quite refreshing spliff. Thanks, Scotty. U DA MAN!!

Accidents aren't caused by anything, but the driver going too fast and not paying attention...plain and simple, it also helps when you take care of your vehicle
Not plain, not simple, and just simply plain wrong! Accidents are strongly affected by sudden weather, items entering the roadway, defects in the roadway, malfunctions, and other factors. Speed and lack of attention are not the only factors! It is never that simple!
It's hilarious all the people downing putting more technology, specifically safety features in a car. All of them replying to the UA-cam video from their smart phones, an extremely unnecessary device. 😂
Porsh? I worked for a company named Porsch-e with the E pronounced like a short a in the German language and subsequently pronounce correctly in English the same way. My German coworkers always corrected that mispronunciations. They were polite about it though.
How is it safe to keep taking your eyes off the road for convience to watch that computer screen while driving? I compare it to an accident bumping into the car ahead of you by looking at your rear view mirror for a split second. It happens!
Apparently, Luxury features consider the user to be feeble. They are so feeble they find it hard to push buttons any more. It needs to be voice activated, touch screens, or hand gestures. The future is feeble.
Many cars with Adaptive Cruise Control also has the “old fashioned” Cruise Control. See UA-cam or your Owner’s Manual for details. Cars today have so many features that you can use or disable. Review Owner’s Manual every 12-18 months to remind you of all the features or…. let your Husband teach you! Ha, ha.
If they ever figure out how to cram a transmission on EVs instead of direct wheel motors they MIGHT not be a joke some day. I'm sure the only reason they can't is because of the battery taking up all the space under the car.
@@justiny328 You don't get what I said. Need to put a geared transmission system on the motor(s) so they don't have to work as hard. Replacing the motor defeats the point of an EV entirely.
Since childhood I've always seen electric cars and infrastructure as a way of government or state having control over drivers speed/path, immobilize criminals/thieves etc and ability to create 'dead zones' or low speed zones. Hopefully they let people have some freedom for a while longer! Thanks for the tips!
Most of these 'features' sound like a horrible dystopia future to me. No thank you, I'll drive my own car, I don't need cameras in my face constantly and automated everything. No wonder people can't do anything right these days, they're so lazy and coddled from this 'automate everything!' mindset.
Do you know where the fuel cap holder is ? After that they can shove the rest like adaptive cruise crap. All that tech crap unnecessarily drives up the price of vehicles. Learning how to drive is much cheaper. 😂
Yeah Scotty as far as the gas goes all my cars from Europe. Are on the right side American cars on the left. Newer cars because the steering wheel in Europe is usually on the right
The FOB on my truck started to act weird. Things inside became unglued and was making contact with the circuit board unbeknownst to me. I'd come outside to find my front windows rolled halfway down. Somehow the FOB was doing that although that was not one of its listed functions.
I for one believe that our children should have all the assist possible(no responsibility). This way they can become dependant on all these features and will not have to think for themselves. I think this is a great direction to go.
I'm sure that was sarcasm but you said one key word, assist. Basic skills and common sense still need to be taught and emphasized so people don't totally rely on all the automated features in these new vehicles but use them at times if necessary
Scotty, my wife bought a 2015 Honda CRV. She said the transmission made a funny noise decelerating down a hill. Rpm seems to be too high while driving. Mpg is at 23 to 25. It has a cvt transmission that she had serviced not lond ago (fluid change) Is it time to take it to the Honda dealer?
they sure dont make cars like they used to anymore. and they sure dont make old guys like this man scotty . reminds me of my father old proper ways. with plenty of common sense like the man on this channel.
It looks like almost none of these apply to our van. The cars you’re talking about are too expensive for us. But someone probably will appreciate this info 👍
Honestly I don't trust these electricly monitored crues controlling or the warning devices. These systems can malfunction and it could kill someone. If I was feeling sleepy I would stop on the side of the road grab a coffee use the bathroom then get back on the road and turn the radio up. And I would never buy a car with no gas cap. Horrible design and is proven to have problems that will cost more money

Hopefully they let people have some freedom for a while longer! Thanks for the tips!
****Terrifying story about European cars? "They are unecessaryly expensive to maintain, reason I am stuck with Lexus.
Most of these 'features' sound like a horrible dystopia future to me. No thank you, I'll drive my own car, I don't need cameras in my face constantly and automated everything. No wonder people can't do anything right these days, they're so lazy and coddled from this 'automate everything!' mindset.
The 95-99 Maximas has the window roll down with the key fob. They eliminated it in the next generation for some reason
All the sensor junk that Scotty doesn't love, lol
Planned obsolescence.
If I only had the money.
Do you know where the fuel cap holder is ? After that they can shove the rest like adaptive cruise crap. All that tech crap unnecessarily drives up the price of vehicles. Learning how to drive is much cheaper. 😂
People just need to learn how to drive
Hopefully Toyota will improve on future engines and actually release a powertrain that can be reliable right from the start, just like they used too
to not too
I'm glad Scotty told us this before he retires......... again.
Yeah Scotty as far as the gas goes all my cars from Europe. Are on the right side American cars on the left. Newer cars because the steering wheel in Europe is usually on the right
The crumple is sufficient the rest makes me think this is no longer a car or fun, heading out on the open roads not in a crampt city.
Umm REEVVVV UP YOUR ENGINES!!!!!
99.9% of vehicles the gas fill is on the driver side.
The FOB on my truck started to act weird. Things inside became unglued and was making contact with the circuit board unbeknownst to me. I'd come outside to find my front windows rolled halfway down. Somehow the FOB was doing that although that was not one of its listed functions.
I know when I'm tired, I don't need a car to tell me, and I don't need a car to tell me where the lane stripes are
Then you did not understand a thing in the video
@garystar1592 yes I did, people are lazy and feel that they don't have to pay attention to be responsible for their vehicles
People say this every couple of years but cars are honestly better than ever and people are just nostalgic for old cars
My car is older and uses the PIP emergency alert braking system (Poop in Pants). Unlike mechanical or electrical systems, it never fails.
You can't retire. 😂
I for one believe that our children should have all the assist possible(no responsibility). This way they can become dependant on all these features and will not have to think for themselves. I think this is a great direction to go.
Your joking or your insane.
I'm sure that was sarcasm but you said one key word, assist. Basic skills and common sense still need to be taught and emphasized so people don't totally rely on all the automated features in these new vehicles but use them at times if necessary
Adaptive cruse SUCKS!
So glad I own a 94 Celica. New cars are Horrible.
There should only be one driver of the car and it should not be the car itself
Will never own one.
Here's why new cars are more reliable?
That's what my screen said, too.
Hi Scotty!
they sure dont make cars like they used to anymore.
and they sure dont make old guys like this man scotty . reminds me of my father old proper ways. with plenty of common sense like the man on this channel.
THe 2018 Toyota Corolla has a drowsy warning or sway warning. If you take your hands off the steering wheel, it will detect that and warn you
More and more crap to break down. Keep it. I want a basic car, crank windows and no electronics like a 1950 Hudson.
I have my diesel fuel cap on a small chain, so I can't lose it.
AI?
Not a "Porch",
it's pronounced Pors-che!... just sayin'!
It looks like almost none of these apply to our van. The cars you’re talking about are too expensive for us. But someone probably will appreciate this info 👍
TPS also watns you when the batteries are weak in the TPS.
Thank God Scotty is sharing this on January 16th 2025 before he retires......😶
Car company are doing away with gas cap so they are becoming obsolete the holder on the door and the cap....
No thanks, I'll stick with my 60's and 70's restomods, 4 or 5 speed manual. If you own a newer car without a full warranty...good luck to ya 😂
