Having made a complete hash of things , he decided for himself that could not leave quickly enough . Needless to say , he managed to “ get away with it “ with his public reputation largely in tact . IMO

I am so glad that I saw this clip. We could see Sri Rajagopalachari take the Oath of Office, and actually sitting on the Governor General's seat of power. To think that the British ruled around 2,000,000 sq. miles from that very seat, and now an Indian was sitting on it, warms my heart. And Lord and Lady Mountbatten just walk away, and the Indians bid them farewell with a lot of respect. India was free after nearly 200 years!😂
