I like the idea that most of the teams that played against the World Five were disappointing and thus didn't pass. It's a headcanon that doesn't require too big of a leap in logic nor stretch in continuity. I will draw attention to the fact that the manga states Kunigami was eliminated 72 hours before the end of the Second Selection. Which means the Selection must've ended on day 7. I feel like them outlining that there needs to be 24h between each match really fucked up the timeline. Like, there was some universe in which it worked, but Episode Nagi really did a number on it with the Karasu team retcon. Even before then, Nagi's team being the 2nd Clear Team doesn't make too much sense.
Yeh I think the world 5 being a test makes most sense. As for Kunigami finishing 72 hours before, yeh I considered it since it's directly stated but it just doesn't make any sense to me. It's as you said, if Karasu was against Nagi's team then that would require them to play an additional 2 days to pick up a 4th and 5th member which is longer than a week but also requires every other team clearing after to finish after them. The only way for it to make sense is if Kuni and Shidou delayed their match until 3 days before the second selection finished. But if this happens then it would mean Kurona's team is fodder but also Sokura's since if he had any other survivor then it would require them to play 3 more games i.e. 72 hours which would be after Sokura's team but since they were the 7th clear team idk.
Yeh I considered that too, it's just hard to believe that only 6 teams would complete before him especially since their journey is so long. Like on day 1 we know like 4 other teams made it since we saw a bunch of losers in the 2v2. So by the time Shidou finishes I just don't think you'd have so many teams of 4 stand idle and wait for the 7 team limit.
@@akiraendoji We'll see, maybe even depending on the team number you have at the end of the test, they add an extra challenge and that's why many teams of 5 failed, maybe only team 1 passed the test directly and from 2 onwards there was an extra challenge that had to be completed to become a final team, with team 7 being the most difficult challenge and at the same time only a team like Shidou's being able to overcome it.

This video just popped up on my feed, and it kinda made me wanna watch it and place a comment: Thing is, for over a couple month's i've been working on a novel-like story about Naruhaya and his journey throughout Blue Lock, and one of the thing it actually covers is the first match he had alongside Barou and Nishioka. In my headcannon (and also the made-up story I added alongside it to give it a little more depth and more time for other characters to shine despite having little to no place in the OG manga) I made it so the team they faced was actually a team made out of Hiori Yo, Ishikari Yukio and Saramadara Kairu. I simply based this decision because I focused on one of the team's that had Nishioka, and since on said team there was Niko (who we saw getting picked up in the anime) it just left me with the other players that coincidentally were enough for a 3 man team. I never put that much thought about it, but watching your video made me realize that I probably should've looked into it a bit more as it not only makes the story have a lot more sense, but it's also a good way to not have some plotholes when it comes to the source material (the og manga). So good stuff on making this video! You earned a sub 🦀🦀🦀

Personally I don't think that the interaction between Karasu, Otoya and Chigiri was a retcon and Chigiri might have just simply played bad in the 4v4, and thus he wasn't able to fully show his speed.
Hmm that's a possibility, I just think there's a higher chance that the author didn't think of Kiyora's team at that moment until now and picked Karasu due to him being in the PXG game.

Yeh me too although I'm losing hope. When Kaiser scored and there was a huge emphasis in him being a super star I thought he would sub in for PXG as a CB or Goalie since thematically it makes sense but they didn't. At this point I'm hoping if Igaguri subs in then the PXG subs come in too.

Well maybe Karasu, Otoya and Himizu trained the first 3 days to build synergy since Himizu wasn't in their team and before they picked up Kiyora we have Rin and Isagi offer to rematch so they never wanted to play against each other. You're right about the size of the facility, there's a good chance a lot of the teams didn't see each other but since they share a dining area there's a chance they would've at least seen each other

I don't remember him stating there was a time limit for the second selection all we know is that it lasted like a month in real time for them (end of video explains the timeline). So even if there's a time limit I just don't see that many teams not play for that time period especially since there's a lot of teams (~20) that could hypothetically make it.

Because you kinda can figure out exactly how the match went just from the little bits we know. Also, do we know how long the language lessons lasted?
Well it's a bit tricky to pinpoint. Like Ishikari, Hiori and Yuki seem extremely strong which is why I think the other trio were the ones. Like Yuki + Barou are both top scorers, haiji and nishi both played on the same team in the third selection with neither making the U20 bench and both ended up with fairly low offers in the NEL but at least playing and so they're roughly the same skill wise to me. Then Sokura got stomped 5-2 in the third selection so potentially he isn't that good too but better than Naruhaya and so all in all the skill level is pretty equal. Definitely could bee fodders and a good chance but I think that's boring as a story goes, just like how the author forced Karasu and otoya into Kiyora's team I think if they were to show the match then it would be more fun if they used existing characters. Not sure how long the language lessons lasted though, maybe an extra chapters stated it but we do know they studied daily.
@@akiraendoji I was reading vol 11 earlier and while it isn't certain, they might have started right after their own World 5 match, so plenty of wiggle room for the author there if need be. As for Barou, we can easily visualize the basic flow of the match just from the limited details. Like by the fourth Barou goal, the other team rallied and realized Barou was basically playing 1v3 so they manmarked him hard, and even then Barou still refused to cooperate. Ishikari does seem like a possibility to manmark Barou so Yuki could finesse the rest. I got the impresion that Ishikari is kinda like a less pathological Barou. Like he wants to be the big bully on the field too but doesn't have to be dragged into cooperation kicking and screamig.
