I LOVE your channel and never miss an episode! I often watch with my sons who enjoy it as well. Your interviews with Bielecki and Maloo were riveting, and I'm so looking forward to your interview with Hatala! Both my sons have a fear of heights so I doubt they'll be doing any climbing. We read the book Annapurna this past year. I was thrilled when I heard my 13yr old cheering when he heard that a man named Couzey, who he remembered from the book, was the 1st to summit Makalu! He's paying attention, and I know he pays attention here too. Great job, my friend!
This is wonderful to hear! Give your sons my best regards. I am honestly STOKED to know that they enjoy my channel, and that they watch it with their dad. Much gratitude, thank you!
Thank you, Thom, for all of your hard work over the last year. I love this channel as it shines a light on real issues relating to all of our beautiful peaks and with God's grace we will see a more caring and considerate attitude toward, what I call, our "16 Godesses". Can't wait to see your stuff next year. LET'S GET THIS CHANNEL TO 100K BY JUNE 2024. Namaste
i am a 49 yr old ex military very fit active man.i have recently took up climbing,i love the gratifying ,challenging part of it...really appreciate your knowledge, input, experiances ,and stories of the mountains.....keep up the great work on your channel
Thank you so much, I’m happy you found the channel. I started climbing in my late 20’s…at the time I thought I got a late start. Fortunately I survived some avalanches and lived to say that there’s no such thing as a late start. It’s great having you here, thank you 🙏
I can’t wait for the new stuff on Mallory and Irvine! That is how I found your channel. I was looking for videos on them. I hope we will finally know what happened to them on the 100 yr anniversary.
Thank you, Thom! I love your respectful way of interviewing mountain climbers and your considered approach to the moral dilemmas involved in climbing the 8000 metre peaks these days. I never feel you’re judging. I look forward to more wonderful stories in 2024! All the best for the year ahead!
The quality of your content is unmatched, and this would be incontrovertibly the best high altitude mountaineering source if they were longer! 30 min +! Anyways, Tommy Boy, thank you!!
Thank you! When I see a comment like this I think I should print it out and leave somewhere on a bulletin board to read when I'm feeling down, or exasperated at how much time it takes to do these.... This makes it all worthwhile, I appreciate it
Thank you again Thom! I look to you and your people for the truth. Your opinions are right on to me. You can hear something in their voices that doesn't sound right. Perhaps because you still care. Thanks !!
Thom, THANK YOU so much for bringing to light the story of all the trash on Everest! It’s disgusting and so disrespectful to not only The Sherpa but to the millions and millions of people seeing it via film footage. I’ve actually contemplated making the the trek to Everest Base Camp just to enjoy the journey and to actually help different camps. I had mentioned in another video about recent drastic changes in my life and having an artificial left knee is one of them. I’d love to show others with artificial joints/limbs that they can achieve great things! As far as climbing Everest, NO, I leave that to the professionals! LOL As always, thanks Thom!
Well, it's four months short of "this time next year", and you've surpassed 60,000 subscribers to reach 72.5K as of today, August 26 2024. Congratulations!
I can understand all the touristy arguments for more-more-more $$$. These Mountains have always seemed sacred - only the best of the best were blessed with success, death was rare and respected. Now it has become a farce. When one can only move as fast as the slowest man….. no wonder many grow exhausted. Complicated situation. Comes down to $$$.
So sad to see Everest a garbage dump do to every irresponsiblety and every thinking yhe earth will recover . I saw pictures of this amazing mountaib covered in garbage in 1975 , and nothings changed . Its just a amusement park . So sad so sad . Thankyou for the show .
Yeah but Messner or Kukuczka climbed these mountains like real mountaineers. Kukuczka climbed 8000er without oxygen, then hiked for days over many passes to get another one! These are heros not some tourist Harila with her large sherpa escort.
Watching 1 of your videos I was ashamed at how much garbage is left behind how do we get all this garbage down,I think the dead people should be left where they pass but the garbage is adifferent story is there a way to make it so that these climbers need to bring there garbage down or make it so to get a permit u need to hire sherpas to clean the mountain do u think there is a way?
And of what worth is it to gain the whole world (climbed Mt. Everest) and lose your own soul (70 climbers walk over dying port Muhammad Hassan on their way to the summit). Pitiful. Clear loss of humanity for what.....to say you reached a summit that is being reported even on this video as being overly commercialized. People's real character shows in this community.

Thom, are you going back to the north side! Of Everest? 2024?
I haven't any plans for that at this time, would love to, though....

Crazy....too many
Fully boosted?
What Everest has become is atrocious. And taking away from Messner is a low blow. Its his.
Thanks for the info.
