I was just talking about the Who episode yesterday. Very cool of them to break the reality wall and address a real life local tragedy. Every sitcom had their episodes about drugs and domestic violence and child molesters and all the other PSA stuff, but WKRP was rare in how they used an actual event that happened, and did it tastefully. That was only like halfway though the first season too, daring for a comedy show.

Bailey was my Favorite. She played a Beautiful Women with Brains. I Love Smart women. She also probably wound up being the Highest paid member of the cast. In order to pay for Loni Andersons salary demands. The studio offered Bailey less money per episode and gave her royalties for if the show became syndicated. As you know the show was more popular in Re runs than when on the air originally.

Interesting, I never knew this. Yeah she definitely got the last laugh taking the back end. It probably seemed like a bad idea in the early 80s but it was likely the best contract of any of them.

She was beautiful before this show when she played Devola in "Where the Lilies Bloom" with Rance Howard and Harry Dean Stanton. This was I believe around 1974. This reminds me of my Daddy, he loved this show when I was little. I really miss him - God Bless his soul. I wish they would do a remake, these were so funny! 🙏🏻✝✨

Redo would not do. First is last, I fear. But you have the memory. 74 and from your dad's generation, and he appreciated having you, too.

I agree. It was the right show at the right time with the right people with the right scripts. I don't think it could be duplicated.

Same here, almost! My late older sister was blind and mentally disabled. But she loved this show, and could memorize the dialogue nearly word-for-word. We had fun watching it and talking about the show and our favorite characters and episodes years later! It was one of the many special moments that we had with each other. R.I.P. Renee!

Yeah, today's tv flat out sucks alright. Sucks even more when ya have hundreds of channels to choose from & still not a damn thing on. All the more reason why I don't have cable. I simply buy all my favorite movies & tv shows (complete series of course) & whenever I'm in the mood to watch something great on tv I just watch it on dvd. Otherwise I have my tv on just for sound as I'm always doing things to keep me busy. But yeah, tv nowadays SUCKS!

This is a great video, but why are the scenes from the show mirror images of the originals?

When you talked about Venus Flytrap's original name, I thought you were going to say Venus Love. The character was going to use Venus Love on air, but Johnny Fever didn't like it, so called him Venus Flytrap the first time segueing to his show.

Here's a little trivia on Les Nessman........the spelling is a typo known to we old newsmen.....miss the W on the keyboard and you are likely to hit the S which sits right under it on the qwerty board.....its an insider joke to the real newsmen who could also type. Yer welcome

I dont seem to recall a lot of drama surrounding Loni's marriage to Burt Reynolds, even though they were often featured in the gossip magazine, Rona Barretts Hollywood. It all seemed pretty benign, and they got a lot of nice coverage when they adopted their young son. Too bad they had to split up, though.
