Hey Tyler that's all I use is a screw lock hooks.I like using it with a drop shot when fishing deeper water, love my caffeine shad on Lake Lanier. I have a bigger chance of getting a large mouth than spots that have taken over Lanier. Thanks for the great video David
I used a fluke a bunch last year for first time and on a baitcaster with 12lb flouro , no leader, and caught a bunch of bass and had no issues with line twist. It cast great with good distance (I was using the superfluke with either a 4/0 ewg hook or 4/0 light wire hook) on a 6'6" medium heavy action rod (maybe a berkley lightning rod or an ugly stick don't remember but both inexpensive rods) on one of the lew's speed spool reels in the 129 dollar range. But I certainly appreciate your recommendations. I am one that hates spinning reels and using leaders . Just my preferences. Thanks so much, really like your channel, and was really impressed with your skipping/casting ability you showed on another video.
I use a med action 7ft2 Shimano Poison Andrena with my trusty Shimano Core 50mg7 spooled with 20 braid & 15 in P line 20lb CFX flc shock leader with an FG knot. Also I bury the #4 owner hook just enough from penetrating all the way through. This set up is great for skipping and pulling that KVD fluke over submerged tree logs and stumps.
Thank you Tyler. Flukes are a confidence bait for me. We are talking about going from a dollar to $ 3 terminal tackle per bait. Not missing a hookset is great. Especially if you wear a jersey.
Most definitely loved your input and content into this vid and would love the complete breakdown of how you make your stinger hook with type/ lb. Test of the braid, your type of of heat shrink along with what knot you tie and size treble hook. Basically your whole setup for it! Love your content and channel keep em coming Bubba....
I love all your videos tyler. I too use the Alberto knot because I can't tie the uni and I just started using the double pitzen that you suggested in another video. All I can say is its a game changer. What a great knot. Thanks and keep producing great videos.
I’ve never had luck on the fluke but I have seen Randy’s mod to it and I wanted to try but thought it a bit complex but that stinger you’ve made is genius
Another great video - I'm excited to try this stinger system! Early in the video you were discussing when using a light wire hook that the action of the fluke would not be dampened, and I expected the link to bring me to Owner's LIGHT Twistlock hooks which are X strong, but instead brought me to their Twistlock "Open Gap" hooks which are XXX strong. Which would be the recommended ones? Also, would you recommend the #4 vs. #6 treble on the stinger harness? Thanx for another enlightening video!
I wish I watched this video before I went out this morning. Missed 5 because the bait balled up and didn’t get a hookset. These Lanier spots are going to be the end of me. Thanks for the tip Ty. Ready to put this rig to work!!!
I use a mh NFC rod and it works awesome especially using a vmc drop dead weighted swimbait hook, zero line twist i use straight 10lb FC sniper by sunline ,been slamming SMB on lake champlain the last few months
Kayak angler here so I fish flukes a ton. I’ve found that 30, he’ll even 20lb straight braid is sufficient enough. 30 = 8lb diameter and 20= like 6 or less. Fish don’t seem to get line shy and you get every advantage of braid/light line
I like the stinger idea. May have to make my own and try it. Have you tried the CPS / dropshot hook idea by tactical bassin? It also works perfectly and has a great hookup ratio
One of my favorite baits all year long cause you can fish it deep or med or shallow or topwater you can work it slow or fast never do I use wieght because I get more bites with out a wieght
Just smoked them today on a fluke, normally throw them on a spinning rod with 10# flouro but was on a buddy's boat and didn't bring a spinning rod, got into some shallow water and thought a fluke might be the ticket so tied it on my jig rod with 15# flouro, was surprised I got the bites I did in shallow clear water with heavier line, not sure I'll go back to a spinning rod for this technique , another thing is I always hear how people have hookup issues when using a fluke, not sure what I'm doing different but I rarely miss a fish on a fluke, I use straight flouro, a #4 gammy ewg hook, I do have some patience when I get a bite, let them swim with it for about three to four feet before I set the hook , I sometimes like to use a magnum super fluke and I use a #5 gammy ewg hook
instead of using a line to line knot why not just use a swivel to tie your braid to fluro , i use straight braid but i use a swivel to avoid line twist and have good success with a 4 alt red ewg gama hook i've caught lots of fish this way , seems like you've got your system figured out i just question mine sometimes , what do you think ?
I'm live up here in Arkansas, we have some great fishing here. Unfortunately, I just lost my two rod and reels in the past two week, which was my only way to get out there a fish. So it looks like I'm out for the rest of the year if not longer. Tyler Is there any way someone might help me out?
Unfortunately I'm a shore fisherman Id give a weekend trapped in an elevator with the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading sqad AND a 5 gallon bucket of baby oil to be able to put a stinger treble hook on my flukes and swimbaits as an honest minimum 30% and very often 40% of my strikes are missed because the bass swipe at and miss my flukes or short strike my SB"s and I loose about half my swimbait But the lakes I fish most often by 1st week of May are just to weeded up to get away with a stinger nearly all the cover that I fish that reliably hold good numbers of bass and lots of quality bass are a mixture of lilly pads and weeds. It's either 100% T-Rigged baits of its a waist of a cast
I'm thinking about straight mono for throwing flukes, trying to get myself out of the habit of ripping the bait out of their mouths with the stretch. Bad idea? Or any suggestions?
Yes, I've used my own modified braid-treble. Easy and works on all kinds of soft plastics if they are striking to kill and not in the eating mood. Kristine Fisher, a UA-camr and pro kayak fisherman, is a big proponent of the Caffeine shad. Check her videos out ...she turned me on to this great bait.
Holy.....I use the Caffeine Shad, a twist-keeper hook, the same Daiwa Tatula reel, a 7" medium rod, 30-lb braid and 15-lb fluoro leader too! I thought I was being original! Thanks for nothin'! :-D
I use the same reel and 30lb braid to 12lb fluoro buttttt I use a 7' med-heavy fast rod. I feel I can twitch it rell well with that rod. Never had trouble with line twist.
@@Bassfamjigs I use a 7" medium, but it's a Garcia Veritas rod as I've found their rods to be a bit stiffer than others...so their medium is kind between a medium and med-hvy. That way gives me good sensitivity and loading for cast, but a bit more power for setting the hook quickly. Also use the same setups for some plastics/senkos. Braid I use is the Tuff-line Domin8 8-core because it's silky smooth.
The stinger hook I mention in the video is actually an Owner not a Gamakatsu. Just FYI. Let me know if you like this style of video!
What size stinger hook were you using in the video? Thanks and keep up the good work.

I use braid to leader on just about anything. I always use a fg knot. It took a long time to learn but it was worth it
Great tip.
Life has taken me out of fishing for the foreseeable future. This is the only fishing channel I haven’t unsubscribed from.
Perfect time for this video, I'm fishing a kayak tournament this Saturday and a Fluke is going to be one of my initial tied on baits. Thanks again!
Awesome! I hope it helps! Good luck!
I've fished flukes for over 20 years I've never had line twist problems. You gotta get that fg knot down! It is so smooth.
Absolutely love my bass hat(camo). I like how the fish badge is engraved and not just printed on
Glad you love it man!!

I got my bass hat on Monday and I absolutely love it. I highly suggest getting one.
Glad you liked it O

Stinger hook. OMGosh! You're amazing! I'm trying that next.

I use and like the crazy Alberto knot myself. Never had an issue with it. Great video and nice to hear you mention Randy Blaukut’s channel also.
I’ve never had luck on the fluke but I have seen Randy’s mod to it and I wanted to try but thought it a bit complex but that stinger you’ve made is genius
It works very well. I highly suggest it!

Great vid. I'm gonna have to try the stinger hook. The action on those okuma rods are sweet. Sorry to hear your boat is down.
Yes I do want to see some more of that stuff I think that when you just showed me was pretty pretty awesome
Great tips Tyler I love braid to fluro.it is probably on 85 percent of my set ups.thanks for the video.
I wish I watched this video before I went out this morning. Missed 5 because the bait balled up and didn’t get a hookset. These Lanier spots are going to be the end of me. Thanks for the tip Ty. Ready to put this rig to work!!!
Do you think you could make a short on how to make that stinger? Awesome idea
I have not tried this yet. but this will be the next one I do when I am out.
Awesome As always your videos has help me being a better fisherman.
thank you i am gonna try your setup I love fishing a fluke

I love those stinger harness, BASS has made any stinger rig longer than two inches a rules violation
Good video, have you ever tried a vmc drop dead weighted hook on flukes, hope you get your boat back soon
Great tips! Thanks. I really like these type of videos
Good plug for Randy 🤙🌎✌️🎣
I like the stinger idea. May have to make my own and try it.
Have you tried the CPS / dropshot hook idea by tactical bassin? It also works perfectly and has a great hookup ratio
Yes I have done that as well, I typically have to throw that with a spinning rod though
I've used this tip it's a good one. More videos like this when u get a chance.
One of my favorite baits all year long cause you can fish it deep or med or shallow or topwater you can work it slow or fast never do I use wieght because I get more bites with out a wieght
Great video keep them coming 👍
Awesome fluke tips!
Great tip! Thanks!
Great content please continue to provide awesome videos.
I appreciate you watching! Thanks!
Awesome stuff! I am slightly obsessed with soft jerkbaits.
Lol...it is a fun bite!
@BassFishingHQ awesome vid as always what did you find were the benefits of baitcaster over spinner with the fluke?
Great video
What size twist lock hook do u use for rigging your fluke soft baits
For a short leader like that I use a surgeon knot. Very strong
Great stuff
instead of using a line to line knot why not just use a swivel to tie your braid to fluro , i use straight braid but i use a swivel to avoid line twist and have good success with a 4 alt red ewg gama hook i've caught lots of fish this way , seems like you've got your system figured out i just question mine sometimes , what do you think ?
What size main hook did you use in this video?
Use a double uni knot for flouro to braid, super easy and effective
I used to use the double Uni, but it is a little bit thicker of a knot then I like

It's either 100% T-Rigged baits of its a waist of a cast
Using a light wire hook works well for me because you get all the action from the fluke.
Yes I really like this style.
All details were covered well.
Thank you!
Followed , subscribed and I’ll get a hat.
Thanks James I appreciate it!
More great info
I'm thinking about straight mono for throwing flukes, trying to get myself out of the habit of ripping the bait out of their mouths with the stretch. Bad idea? Or any suggestions?
I use mono, 4 or 5 worm hook and a baitcaster. I've never had a problem with that on a 7 foot medium action rod.
Great tips👍
Thanks Mr Moss
Use a knot assist 2.0 for your FG knots will save u time and ur fingers...
Cool!

Braid to any kind of leader instead of full spool.
Holy.....I use the Caffeine Shad, a twist-keeper hook, the same Daiwa Tatula reel, a 7" medium rod, 30-lb braid and 15-lb fluoro leader too! I thought I was being original! Thanks for nothin'! :-D
Lol it’s the deal right?
@@BassFishingHQ Actually I did learn something, as I was wondering if it would make a good rig for topwater too, with different leader obvsiouly.
I use the same reel and 30lb braid to 12lb fluoro buttttt I use a 7' med-heavy fast rod. I feel I can twitch it rell well with that rod. Never had trouble with line twist.
@@Bassfamjigs yes you definitely shouldn’t have problems with line twist using the braid!

Why stinger on the same side as hook itself?
Cause you get them in the roof of the mouth more often. Which is what I prefer
Have u learned the FG knots yet?
Been fishing em super slow and crushing lately
Super slow in shallows
People have hook up issues because they try to set the hook to early. You wanna set the hook just like a top water frog. Wait a lil
almost 3 minutes in before you really start to explain stuff.
First
Hour video to show how to hook a fluke lol
