    Great video! Your instruction style is excellent. I had avoided metronomes for practice but now I find it helps me lock on what I am playing.

    Thanks for this. I’ve been playing over 2 years and never used a metronome, but I know I speed up and slow down when practising, so after watching this I’m going to get one.

    I’ve been avoiding using one for some time now. Been thinking about using one but I do everything by feel. This came at a good time for me. I’m going to use one.

    Amazing tutorial. I’ve fallen into that trap, do the easy bits struggle on the hard bits. In fact I laughed when you said it. This is a video to watch multiple times. Thank You Phil

    This is the best video tutorial about the metronome and the benefits of using it. I used to hate the metronome, but soon it became my best friend. Would love to purchase a metronome like yours. Is it available on Amazon? Thanks for a great lesson. 👏

    Hi Phil. Thanks for another great video. Why do teachers of ukulele on you tube teach you songs but don't include the target speed so that you can use the metronome for practice?

    • @PhilDoleman
      @PhilDoleman  Рік тому

      Thanks John. I think that it's because many songs that are commonly played by uke players are frequently played at different tempos. This is where the 'tap tempo' feature can really help, as you can just listen to the recording of your choice (or even tap the button along with your uke club playing) to get a tempo.

    Any advice using the metronome on 6/8 time and other odder timings, like 7/8, Phil?

    • @PhilDoleman
      @PhilDoleman  Рік тому +1

      For 6/8 you can set it so that you hear the bell every 6 beats, and then a bar would be 1 2 3 1 2 3. You might also set it so that you only hear a click on the first note of each group of 3, so 'click', 2, 3 'click', 2, 3.
      7/8 would be similar, but it doesn't naturally have the beats grouped as 6/8 does, so a click of 7 with, if you want it, a 'bell' on beat 1. My digital metronome lets me choose 7 beats between highlighted 'beeps'
      Of course, if there's no bell to indicate the beginning of a bar, it doesn't matter if it's 2/4, 4/4/, 5/4, as it's just keeping time and not indicating bar length.

    Phil, is that a Korg digital one that you use? What model?

    • @PhilDoleman
      @PhilDoleman  Рік тому

      It's a Boss DB30. Korg make some great ones that are pretty cheap too.
