They are very cute - but isn't it a bit mean keeping them chained up in the middle of nowhere with only a tiny hut?
The Natter Nodge tiny hut is enough for them to sleep in and clearly these dogs work most of their day, you can tell they are being taken good care of because of how mellow they are around people.
The Natter Nodge yes.
The Natter Nodge They evolved in the cold, they love it.
That's how it's always is they dont mind.
BA3Y R1S did you ask the dogs?
correct me if I'm wrong (which i don't is the case) but sled dogs aren't 100% huskies. they are a mix of breeds, since they have less health issues and are tougher since they have all the good qualities from the different breeds
Emil Cozianu they are mutts but a sled dog is called a husky. Husky itself is not a breed. The breed you see people walk around in the cities with is most commonly Siberian Husky they have beautiful appearance, but aren't quite as resilient.
How often sled dogs get eaten by polar bears
Those dogs look to me like they get fed really well.
Aww, they get excited like my dog does when he knows he's going for a walk.
Could you please provide some more detail on how they thermoregulate through their paws? I'm curious about how that works.
They increase their blood flow to the pads of their feet when the are hot. The cold ground will cool the blood and in turn cool the dog. When they are trying to stay warm, they'll limit the blood flow to the pads so there is less thermal exchange and keep the core body temperature up.
How does the thermoregulation in the paws work? Puppy husky sound like ewoks
The only way dogs can sweat is through their paw pads! My dog is a husky mix and she likes to stand in streams and pant to cool down during the summer.
Thanks for the question Henbot.
Huskies are able to actively control the blood flow through their capillaries in the pads on their paws. This ability to control the blood flow allows them to control their temperature. Running the blood closer to the surface, especially when the surface is cold snow, cools the blood before returning it to the body’s core through the veins, allowing the animal to keep cool and safe.
Omg those PUPPIES! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, I was just reading about Svalbard today and then this video gets uploaded!
Amazing stuff
Aww
Can you provide the details of the guide of this activity?
I encourage BBC earth to look into some of the cruelty these poor dogs endure.
What cruelty do you mean? Just asking.
Ah yes having a life is cruel
Thats why you think your so perfect 💀
