    The song says: "On my grave there stands a litte flower too." Wrong translation. "In my chamber, there stands a little flower too." would be the correct translation. The next mistake is: "Does she already know, that I died?" He didn't die in the german original. He fears that he dies before he can see her again, but he is still alive. The exact translation would be: "It seems like it would speak loud: "Do you think about your little bride?"" Of course songs can't be translated 1 to 1, but there shouldn't be added things that the original song didn't want to say.

    • @ember2933
      @ember2933 2 місяці тому

      I don't think these are mistakes.
      That's probably intentional.
      Either way, even though what is said in the song still changes, it still retains its meaning even with the tweaks.
      And that's totally fine.
      This _IS_ the *English* *_version,_* after all.
      Doing this is extremely common when you translate and sing songs from one language from another.
      A really great example of this are Japanese songs translated to English.
      Due to the structure of the songs, the English words that are intended sometimes won't fit, so they make changes to the lyrics while maintaining the meaning.

    • @NapoleonVIII
      @NapoleonVIII Місяць тому

      @@ember2933, I have nothing against changing the lyrics. Till the last part I have no problem with the song. My problem is that he dies in the English version, although he doesn't in the German one. So they didn't simply maintain the content and used other lyrics for it. They add content that didn't exist in the original version.
      I give you an example, why this is a problem: Take "Where all the roads have ended" for example. Through the whole song, they changed the lyrics and kept the content from the original the same. If this song could do it and my others too, why not the translation of "Erika"?
