    Thank you so very much so! My brother had a burnt out headlight on his 2011 malibu and my father wanted to change it for him. I helped him look at it while we changed the oil for my brother. When we seen that there was no way to get to the light bulb unless you took the front bumper and God knows what else off we were discouraged! Then I looked up how to on a video and came across yours. Thank you so very much for showing us how to do it and for giving us the confidence to do the job! Whomever designed that setup was only thinking of 💰 for the dealerships! Thinking that most people would have to take it to the dealership to get it fixed. That designer does need punched in the face! Thank you!

      @@stevemontes5121 Watching your video it only took us like 20ish minutes the first time! You showed exactly what needed to be done. My father and I both have mechanical inclination. I have messed with many many Hondas. I've had a turboed sohc pushing 15 pounds of boost, a gsr in a del sol with around 300hp at the crank, an LS swapped integra and few more plus a few VW's. And I still didn't want to or feel like messing with taking the bumper and whatever else needed to be off.(That's what I was thinking at the time.) Plus I hate, HATE, taking off and lining bumpers back up. But watching your video gave both of us the "want to", confidence and know how to do it! Many many thanks!

    • @notimportant514
      @notimportant514 Рік тому +1

      @@cd7up That's ridiculous! I'm not a mechanic but I can do alot on my own. Like changing alternators, starter, oil changes, tire rotation, exhaust work, and stuff generally like that. But this only took my father and I about half an hour to do after watching this video. I hate messing with bumpers because of the clips, I seem to break them a lil to easy sometimes and just getting them to line back up can be a pain sometimes. Not always but sometimes. But your experience just shows people how bad dealerships rip people off! $799 plus parts! That's really absurd and ridiculously greedy! 4 days time? Wow, what are they doing? Manufacturing the bumper, lights and light bulbs themselves?

    I was desperate and had to pay a Chevy dealer so I had them replace both lights and blinkers. Since then Chevy had to replace one of the lights again after 11 months at minimal cost. Then my son had to replace the other headlight 10 months later and now another year later, we have to replace the driver's side headlight. Whoever at GM that designed the headlight assembly should get punched in the face. Not only for the problem replacing the lights but also because so many people have bulbs burung out so fast. Thanks for making this video. My son watches it as a refresher each time.

    • @stevemontes5121
      @stevemontes5121  3 роки тому

      The life of the bulb depends on a few different things. If you use brighter than original bulbs they burn out faster because of the amount of heat applied to the filament inside. That’s what makes it brighter. The brighter the glow, the hotter the bulb. Aside from that, if you use a cheaper bulb, then the filament/wire inside is sometimes thinner and cheaper, therefore burns out faster because it doesn’t hold up for long.
      Whichever bulb you use tho, make sure to blob on some dielectric grease on the connector. It keeps the temperature down, keeps moisture out, and reduces vibration, which all contribute to the life of a bulb. 💡 😉

Their was no way, I was going to spend $200-$300 cheverloet or another shop. Oh! And I'd advise to purchase a flat screwdriver wide enough for the pop ups. Not to say, you can't do it without one, you can use a knife. But it will make the process longer, trust me! You can get one at Walmart for cheap. Yup! The low beams are the bulbs furthest out on the car. The High beams are towards the center of the car. Also the low beams are a different part number than the high beams. Low beams are PN# H11 & the High beams are PN# H9. One won't fit in the other's spot. If you have any doubt, just turn on the light switch and look at the burnt out bulb once the headlight assembly is removed. MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF the hedlights while changing them though cause they get super hot super quick!!!!!!

    Will an LT model change this procedure at all, or can I still use this video as reference to change it?
    Also plan on becoming a mechanic so I can do stuff like this myself and not pay huge car service shop fees.

      Creedence Moon No man. The model doesn’t matter at all. It’s the same procedure. You don’t have to do anything extra from what you see here to access the bulbs. But just a tip. If you’re going to go thru the hassle of swapping one bulb, might as well change both. When one goes out, the other isn’t far behind. And nobody wants to do this job twice.

    Are you sure a step isn't missing from the video? I can't find the part between the fender well and the bumper. It's definitely sealed on there, and I can't see what I'm supposed to do next. But it's not ready to pull off the bumper yet, so I ... damn it...

    Hey man this video is great. One question I have since it’s been a few years. Did you have trouble with the bulb going out again soon after? I just talked to a shop that said to do it right you really need to replace the sockets too, both sides.

    What a pain in the culo!
    Thank you for making this quick and easy to follow tutorial. I did this several months ago and the headlight I planned on replacing landed up turning on while working on it so I didn't replace the light. The headlight worked fine for a couple of days, but then it didn't work anymore.
    I was discouraged to do all of that hard work all over again to see what the problem could be, so I have just been driving around with one headlight out. lol I call other vehicles with only one headlight working my "brother!" lol and me and my daughter laugh.
    I think I'm about to make another attempt at replacing the headlight. Wish me luck!

      Brotherrrrr!!! With the hand extended and everything! Lol. I can see it now haha.
      More than likely the filament in the bulb is split but was still touching when it worked. As you drove and hit potholes or just the road vibration knocked it loose again. That’s why it’s out......more than likely. And don’t worry. The second time around is much faster cause you already know how to do it.

    • @stevemontes5121
      @stevemontes5121  3 роки тому

      That’s weird. You did swap out the one furthest away from the center of the car right? There’s two in there. One is the high beam. The other (outer one) is the low beam.
      If you swapped out the correct one, then there’s something wrong with the wiring.
      Double check just to be sure.
      Or did you fix it already?

    • @timothyhalpin8181
      @timothyhalpin8181 3 роки тому
