I have travelled around the world taking in all the beautiful sights but I'm always grateful and glad to come back home, Australia. We are spoilt with choice, friendly people, safety and am amazing culture.
I am from *Brazil* and I think that Brazil is quite similar to South Africa in some positive and negative points. *Positive Points:* We have a huge and diversity country (some tourists just know Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo [ An interesting fact is that São Paulo is one of the largest cities in the world in population, the city has approximately 21 million inhabitants and the entire state of São Paulo has around 44 million people!) but we have more beautiful and totally diferent places (like Foz do Iguaçu, Angra dos Reis, Lençois Maranhenses, Jalapão, Bonito, Ouro Preto, Brasília [our capital] and many others places), we have a really good food (in my opinion at least), we are a really multicultural country as well (I think that we are the home to the world's largest community of Japanese, italian and portuguese descendants outside of Japan, Italy and Portugal consecutively), I think that we are kind of nice nation, we also have a free health system that unfortunately it´s not so good (but it still manages to help a lot of poor people, which is really nice) and in my opinion we have a beautiful nature . *Negative Points:* Unfortunately Brazil it is not one of the most safest country in the world, if you came to visit the huge, big and medium size cities you will see a lot of fances and gates in the houses, but if you go to the inner of the cities you can see a more paceful and safe places, a lot of this inner cities don´t even have gates, faces or alarm systens in the houses), I think another negative point it is our money (real) that unfortunately it is not so valuable (1 real equals to 3,26 rands and 1 amarican dollar equals to 5,32 reais, wchich is a lot), also the corruption in our government is a very sad thing (but it affects much more the locals than those who actually come to do tourism in Brazil), another negative point is the high unemployment rate and the big social inequality (which it is really sad). I confess that I love Brazil, I think we live in a very beautiful country with very kind people, but I think a lot about live abroad in the future, I think of several interesting countries, mainly in Australia and South Africa. I'm also sorry for the size of the comment, it got really big and I'm sorry if I wrote something wrong in English ! I love your channel, you and your family are just amazing! ❤️
Thank you so much for your comment. It's so interesting to see what different countries are like. When I was in high school we had a few exchange students from Brazil and since then I have really wanted to visit the country. I can relate to the safety being an issue, as it is in South Africa. Hope you are safe and well :) x
Australia's aren't " moving" to entrepreneurship, that is the essence of Australia. It is entrepreneurs that have driven this country right from the beginning.
This is Adelaide centric. Laid back/work life balance/single income families don’t really exist in Sydney unless one parent is a surgeon/corporate lawyers.... Sydney is the same work vibe as any other global centre......that median priced house of $1million plus ain’t going to be paid by being chill or having a single income (can be done but would be a struggle)
Thank you for your comment! This is something I would definitely be worried about in a larger city. I think most larger cities around the world would have a similar situation. Thank you for your insight. If we ever moved to Australia for good I would definitely need to work as I don’t think we would survive on one income.
Currently in South Africa and my fiance and I have been on the fence about OZ or NZ. For different reasons. Nice to hear a south Africans point of view. How are the houses in OZ. I looked at some places in Melbourne area and from the filters I put in I was quite shocked at the state of the houses. They looked pretty terrible
Hi :) I’ve been in South Africa for 9 years but am actually Australian so I’m quite used to how the houses in Australia are. It depends where you are looking. In older town you may get houses which need a lot more maintenance and care. The housing cost is quite high in Australian. Especially if you are renting. It is possible to find beautiful smaller homes with a backyard. Good luck :)
I live in London but not in central London so i have got a lot of beautiful green open areas near me i live 2 mins walk from the river Thames which is lovely it is a wealthy area with a lot of famous people living near me .. it is 8 miles to Buckingham palace so the best of both worlds.. We get free schooling and free healthcare here so we are lucky ... the weather is very mixed here in the UK xxx
Let me know where in the world you live and some of the great points about living there :) I'm so interested to see how different countries are and what it's really like living there. Sending everyone love xx
Hi Louisa. The wife and myself currently live in Cape Town, SA. We were in the process of applying to move to Aus, but then covid-19 changed all of that! Thanks for all the information - would really appreciate if you could perhaps list some of things that South Africans might struggle with, living in Australia? We are both spirit-lead Christians - would love to know what the Christian culture is like there? Thanks so much and keep up the great work! :)
halfsouthafrican hi, I’m sorry to hear that. covid has affected so many plans. I have been thinking about making a video like this. To be honest that is one thing my husband and I have felt here... the lack of Christian community. But we might have just not found it yet. I will hopefully delve deeper on this in an upcoming video :)
Hi! I'm British but live in Shanghai, with my Chinese husband, our dog and cat. We're considering moving to Aus (something I've wanted to do since I was 13.) I'm excited but very confused, hahaha I'm an ESL teacher, and my husband doesn't have qualifications. His English is also pretty weak (although I teach him often)... ugh. Hopes for the future.
Melbourne, Australia. Vibrant city, great coffee, fantastic sporting arenas, great theatre, good galleries, easy access to the bush for fabulous hiking, close to wineries and yes we do have great beaches too. Came from London. Will never go back. Ps. Melbourne weather craziness is a bit of a myth. We are not as dry as Adelaide, but we are not as wet as Sydney.
We wanted and still would like to immigrate to Australia 🇦🇺, my cousin lives with his family permanently there for about 5 years back and is not looking back
Wow that’s exciting! Do you know where in Australia you’d like to move to? It’s great if you already have family there. Makes the move a little bit easier. Good luck 😊
I’m in New York, I am in the process of immigrating to Australia. Submitting my papers in the next year after I finish my education. I’m thinking of going to either Gold Coast or Perth. Honestly I’m just sick of the U.S. like we pay way to much in healthcare, it’s very unsafe, it’s not politically stable and I don’t like the divisiveness. My family has lived in the U.S. since the 1800’s and I think it’s time to change it up. Only con is it’s a 22 hour flight from Australia to NY but I can handle 2-3 times a year.
Great news on almost finishing your studies! Good luck with the move over. I don’t think it’ll always be easy but from what you have mentioned it seems like you’ll really enjoy Australia 🇦🇺
That’s an incredible achievement! I hope you do what is right for you. It will definitely be an adventure. I think in the current times things have been made an much more complicated! I hope you come to a decision :) 💕
I came alone. Best decision I could have made. Forced me to be social and step.out of my once naturally introverted comfort zone, ,rather than being reliant on a companion. My first year in Australia I made so many friends and got to experience so many new things, I wondered what on earth I'd been doing with my life up until then!!! That was 33 years ago. Still here. 😁 Take the leap. You will not regret it. I promise you.
