- Every kid in the midwest wanted to be on The Bozo Show, especially The Grand Prize Game so they could play Bozo buckets! Who wouldn't want a chance to win a crisp $100 bill and a brand new, Schwinn Bicycle!?! This was filmed on October 14th, 1988! Not sure about the air date. This is the most famous Bozo through all the years.
Imagine being an at home player and waiting years to be called,and when you finally are, all you get is an etch a sketch,a cheap bag of candy and a picture with Bozo and some random kid,you've never met and never will, all because she couldn't even hit the second bucket! 😆 😆 😆

I'm adult now and $50 is now just part of my weekly spending money but when I look at that $50, it still gives me the feeling, "Wow! That's a lot!" I remember when I was a kid, how hard and long it was to save up $50.
With corporate greed as bad as it's become (which they have gaslit everyone into believing that it's inflation), $50 can't buy you anything anymore. But back in my day, $50 could buy a month's worth of groceries.

Anyone else remember when TV stopped at night? When I was little this was one of the first shows to come on each day, and I always got up to watch it. Such an insanely different time.

I loved watching Bozo when I was a boy. I remember sometimes when someone would tell Bozo they already had that prize at home, and Bozo would sometimes say "Well, guess what?!?!? Now you have TWO!"

I used to watch this show, too. My cousin was contestant on the Grand Prize Game once. She made it to Bucket #4 and got a lot of great prizes.

I never saw this show growing up in California, but when I was in my late teens I was in the Army stationed at Ft. Drum, NY and got in the habit of watching this every morning. After a while all of us in the barracks were watching to see if anyone would get the grand prize! I don't think I ever saw anyone win it.
I miss watching this every Sunday morning next to the cartoons. WGN was the stuff in the 90s

It is! Just good old fashioned fun and you get actual laughs from Bozo and Cooky. I love how Bozo is thrown off a bit by the envelope in a plastic bag and makes a little bit with it and Cooky's one-liner was gold.

I was 9 years old I totally remember watching Bozo before school.
Was on the show twice, first time I was around 4 or 5 (hardly remember) and made it to bucket 5, second time was a couple years later and I sank all 6. Bozo creeped me out yet facinated me at the same time and I just wanted of that stage to the second time.

This was the best part of The Bozo Show. Just imagine how many families flying to Chicago so kids will throw a ping pong ball into a bucket. The farther the bucket means the bigger the prizes.

That Comic Book Teen Titan Anniversay edition is worth $100 today on eBay. The Michael Jordan Horse Basketball game is worth $400!!! The Basketball game was called Lil Sport Horse Basktball. The little shooter guy in this one was last white figure with Jordan's #. This was corrected in following year with a Black Michael Jordan.
The highest price on eBay for that Teen Titans Comic book is a near mint copy that sold for $50.99; remember, what something is sold for and the seller’s asking price are usually two very different things.
I think this is the first video of the grand prize game that I’ve seen where when the kid wins the prize on the first bucket and bozo says look over there for the photo to be taken and the kid is ready for it and smiles instead of looking confused haha
Some of us are just built different at 5 years old.

It was extremely rare but I do recall a few kids winning the bike over the years I grew up with this show. Probably only about 6 over nearly a decade. A deceptively hard challenge.

Chicago had much better prizes than the other cities. I remember from the early 2000s getting all 6 buckets also won a free trip to any Southwest Airlines destination.

I just learned last night that I work with the guy who was bozo the clown from 1987-89. I have no idea how this crazy old man from Fort Wayne Indiana ended up being such an iconic character.
To play Bozo the Clown you would have to be Crazy IRL I'd imagine.
Several cities had their own Bozo. Fort Wayne likely did too.
He was bozo in California. This is actually him in the video. He’s just from Fort Wayne. He said he was on set doing wiring for the lights or something and was asked if he wanted to be bozo. That’s my understanding, but regardless, this is him.

The show is a little bit different from the way it was when I was on it back in 1976. They used to use "Magic Arrows" to select contestants, but they probably changed to drawing ticket numbers with the "Bozoputer" because the arrows would often land on adults or babies and they had to keep spinning to get kids that could play, or they would land on a boy or girl when they already got one. With the Bozoputer, they only have to run it twice to pick one boy and one girl. Also, the band playing in the background sounds different from the way it was done earlier in the show's history.
The traditional band got replaced by a single person using a synthesizer in 1987 due to budget cuts. WGN slowly grew more and more cheapskate towards the show over the years after that point.

Started recording Bozo in 1979. Posted a few shows online but WGN removed them.
You should make a torrent. I assumed that all of these shows were gone but surely somebody must have been recording them. Somebody who was on the show, even in the audience, surely recorded their episode, if they had a VCR.
