Adding SATA Connectors to old PC power supplies

  • This video is a "how to" add SATA connectors to old PC power supplies that have too many Molex connectors and too few SATA connectors.
    Prior to 2005, all PC disc drives and optical drives were powered with "Molex" 4 pin power connectors. Therefor power supplies only provided Molex connectors. After 2005 there was a switch to the new SATA standard. Many PC power supplies from the mid 2000's will have 0 or 1 cables with SATA connectors, but with several cables with obsolete Molex connectors. In this video, I will add an SATA connector to an existing SATA cable and I will add two SATA connectors to an old Molex type cable. Inorder to properly add SATA connectors to a Molex type cable, a 3.3 volt line should also be added to the cable.

    Hi I have a question, can I use the Sata Splinter to power RGB case fans?

      pc fans donot work with sata it only work with molex or 4pin or 3pin
