What I want is a search engine that gives me results for what I asked for and nothing else. If I search for Minnie Pearl I want links to Minnie Pearl and not everyone named Minnie, information on pearls, and other links not related to what I asked for. If I ask for something and specify Linux I don't want links to pages for Windows or MacIntosh.
If you put a + in front of a word you want it to have it show up for certain and if you put a - in front of it it will make sure it doesn't have that and this applies to all search engines so if you are bothered by bad results add those
@D R it's not only that they're relegated to the bottom of the list. You can't even get to them because big search engines won't even show you all of the results that they claim to return. They'll give you 15 or 20 pages of repetitions of a small number of articles from big media outlets and then nothing else. They'll tell you that they found millions or even billions of search results but they won't even let you see hundreds of them.

Great video! When I use Google to search the results are limited because of aggressive advertising to sell me the products I had previously done searches for.
Who is old enough to remember Altavista, Lycos, Hotbot, Webcrawler, Looksmart, Excite, and Infoseek? I mostly use DuckDuckGo 95% of the time now and Yahoo perhaps 5% of the time. I remember about 15 or 20 years ago there was this new start-up search engine that had a perfect visual carousel type interface, but I think they sadly didn't make it or were taken over by someone else and the technology never seemed to be implemented. I forget what the name was.
I clicked on here because I'm sick of Google directing me where IT wants, not where I want to go. Example: enter Smartphone in Google and you'll get bombarded with Android stuff, because Google owns Android. Many other examples. I'd actually rather pay for a search engine that's honest, not sales oriented or politically correct.
Back in the dial-up days when Yahoo was king I switched to Google because it had a simple page that loaded quickly. Yahoo's home page, on the other hand, was full of links and graphics that would take FOREVER to load. I loved Yahoo for games and stuff but usually when I wanted to search it was for a quick answer. Post dial-up, that logic no longer applies but you can't turn back the clock. Sadly, it seems that Google's corporate culture has also made its motto 'Don't be evil' a thing of the past.
How come when I use search engines i can't find anything new on images noting bad just something new I want to see there has be anthoer search engine find things you know
I’ve been trying to find something better bc google is so inaccurate with what I need. It doesn’t matter if I’m searching with a new/other accounts, guest accounts, or if I clear my web data in settings. If I search “better search engines than Google” it gives me more unrelated stuff like vpns and instructional things on how to use google. UA-cam is so accurate with search results and I hope to find a search engine with similar precision
When I have complex hardware questions of gaming questions, Google gets much better results, it always seems to know what you mean and what you want. With Bing, a single word can make all the diference.
I like Yippy and the rest of my family uses Swisscows. I get a lot of traffic to my website from Ecosia, Bing and Yahoo. Really love the creativecommons suggestion, didn't know about that, will be using that from now on for images. Agree with you on Qwant, they're like Google but smoking something weird.
It would take too long to go into all the reasons to avoid Google, so I will just say that 99% of my searches online are via DuckDuckGo. The only time I use Google is for maps, and when I do it is always from a private window which is closed as soon as I am finished with my immediate use of the site. No long do I have ads for anything and everything related somehow to my web search following me for weeks. Moreover, using Google search today never nets the most relevant information, but the information Google wants to feed to you.
I like Duck Duck Go but I wish they would offer a better auto fill when typing in full search results. You usually have to type in all your search words in to get what you want. All in all, I guess that is better then being spied on.
This is a great video. I did not know about most of this stuff. especially did not know how to use the bank feature and DuckDuckGo. That was very helpful.
Hi. I would like to reccommend another search engine named SearchScene, it's layout is somehow like Bing and 95% of their profits go to charity. Their search is powered by Bing.
Yes Yippy uses customised ads..from Google, at least. Several sources report that DDG does not respect privacy laws. TY. Looking for search engines that dont block 90-95% of all content, especially concerning suppressed history, esoteria, etc. Peace from Canada.
I've been using DuckDuckGo for several years, but is sometimes produces non-useful results and I revert o Google. I use Brave Browser and DuckDuckGo to avoid Google EVIL. I prefer UA-cam layout on Brave rather than on Chrome.
One of the biggest issue, to me is that I have a very inquisitive mind, and its like a true sponge, I absorb a massive amount of what I am interested in, they have not a fricken clue, I don't repeat anything, sending me back to places that I have already been in a search is totally stupid, don't every try thinking or deciding anything for me, stop tracking everyone leave us alone or we just may leave you alone you are are ruining the future
I prefer Yahoo for sentimental reasons. I was using alltheweb search engine several years before yahoo bought it. At the time that was teh alternative against market policies of microsoft and apple and other big aggressive internet players at that time. (I am on internet for at least 3 decades now) Then, when yahoo incorporated alltheweb in his search engine I stayed with them. It is quite good and never had any issue with that engine but one. Before, alltheweb was strictly respectful of the search under 'exact text' and never propose partial match. That was a tool of excellence for teachers (as I was) or a researcher (as I am) trying to sort the right and wrong on works by students or by surfers on all platforms. After the fusion, it become more and more difficult to have that restriction, the search engine giving more and more 'related' pages or partial matches. But I keep my cool, it ain't better elsewhere for that specific matter.
4:57 Uh... Read the text under that genre title, man. "American Heavy Metal band"; That's exactly what they are! (I dunno WHERE they got "Rap" from though, I agree. Geez!!!)

- Google: "What other search engines?"
Lol I tried this just to see and it shows 4 plus an expansion button for 20 more:
Bing at the top,
Google second,
Duck duck go and then...
yahoo XD

Google reports to government too.
So sad these what people have become. What a terrible group of people . I’m sure the tide will change - it always does.
