Rope bags are an often overlooked piece of trad climbing equipment that can make a big difference to how long your climbing rope lasts and how quickly you can set up before and pack away after your climb.
Less time faffing with ropes = more time climbing!
The Dmm Pitcher combines a simple design with an excellent rope packing system. It can be carried as a back pack and can hold belay jacket and approach shoes on multi pitch routes. It is particularly helpful in a sea cliff setting, where the rope stays contained yet readily accessible from anchoring in to belaying the leader.

would you recommend getting the classic for the better straps or would it be better to sew a pair of cushions for this bag's straps?
Hi Solewhale. I think DMM have released an updated version since we did our review that has padded straps. Hope that helps 👍

@@TheClimbingNomads I purchased a dmm pitcher rope bag 30L with the updated and padded straps based on your review. This newer bag is very durable and runs $45 US. Haven’t used it yet but it’s sturdy enough to haul. When I ordered it I was expecting an item more like what your excellent review displayed. Are you still using the reviewed item? Any problems?
Yep still using the original bag which is still going strong. We have actually ended up buying several of these bags because we like it so much! We now keep each of our different ropes (Trad ½'s, working sport and Redpoint sport) each in their own pitcher bag.
We have not used the updated version with the padded straps but it looks like a good improvement on the original. I am sure when ours do where out we will be buying the updated version 👍
