The Princess of Wales met Sir Paul McCartney and Tracey Emin as she re-opened the National Portrait Gallery following its three-year, £41.3 million refurbishment. Kate, who is patron of the gallery, officially opened its doors ahead of its re-opening to members of the public later this week.

The wattage of Princess Catherine meeting Sir Paul McCartney, and we are the lucky ones to have seen this captured on video. I am delighted to see him in such robust health (2 days after his 81st birthday) and am delighted to see her so graciously greeting and chatting with all whom she met.

As an American I've never been much interested in the English Royal Family but I have to say that I am very impressed with Princess Catherine.
