This video helped me solve the problem with mine. I replaced the radiator and did a full coolant flush. The radiator was internally clogged. So I did a coolant flush to make sure there were no particles inside the heater core or the engine core. To flush the heater core, turn on the heater as your flushing the system. It's a bit more complicated than that but that's how you clear all the old crappy coolant out of the heater core.
OMG. Have the same issues? Changed the Cap and Other thing thermostat, lol u mentioned, Weeks later getting HOT again, 😮Now will have my husband check the Radiator to see if its Clogged! Thx Video was a great help.
Thanks for posting the video. I have a 2008. It drives fine, then once it heats up, suddenly it stalls 6-8 times before I can limp home. Just after going 1 mile down the road. It's like it psychically knows when I'm in heavy traffic, and stops in the middle of the intersection. I've been fixing it up over 6 mths now, as I get a little money here and there, and then the stalling thing started. Man, I feel like this is not a dependable car. You wouldn't want to go on a road trip in it. You don't know if you walking back. Thanks for the video. More stuff to look into.
what about running a radiator flush through it to break up the clog? Don’t people do that anymore? I’ve never done it but my first thought if I had a clogged radiator would be to try to unclog it. Ideas?
My 2001 PT Cruiser is doing the same thing . Ive been down your checklist and it still over heats. I noticed today the radiator has a sticker on it saying "Chrysler". Could it be a 22 year old factory radiator has failed? LOL !
@@togui222000 I actually replaced the head gasket because it failed the combustion gas test in the coolant. This was after it over heated the first time.I test drove it then took it on a 75 mile trip. Thought I nailed it then about 5 miles from home it overheated again ! When I replaced the head gasket I also replaced the water pump. I also removed the guts from the thermostat to remove that as a cause. It improved but still over heated ! I did notice when I turned on the heater full blast it would improve enough to keep driving.Radiator is on its way Ill let you know how this mystery turns out . Thanks for your video !
@@togui222000 Yes it was a clogged radiator! That must have caused the whole failure. It was clogged to the point where city driving was just too much for it ,got hot blew the head gasket and then leaked coolant in to the cylinder . I changed the head gasket not realizing I didnt repair the cause in the first place. I noticed a lot of rust scale at the bottom of my catch pan when I drained the coolant. That radiator must be original equitment.Hope this helps someone else with their Pt Cruiser. Thanks again !
I’m in the same situation. It’s in 05 and I’ve had it since 09. I am really trying to figure out when to throw in the towel with this car because I’m always replacing something, it seems. So like as soon as it was paid off then everything went kaput!!lol. I replaced thermostat and over heating was still happening. About 145,000 miles on it so I took it to dealership who proceeded to run off a bunch of repairs totaling 6300 which is more than car is worth. When I asked if all the things were pressing apparently some were and some weren’t. He said radiator was cracked and I need to replace the fan to address thermostat light coming on-they want to charge 1500. Then replace head gasket, timing belt water pump, tensioner plus pulley, upper lower mount insulators, etc motor mount in frame rail. It’s my only transportation but I’m not able to buy another car right now but just to hold on to a car so you just keep pumping money in it even after the costs exceed value of car? Any insight from fellow owners or enthusiasts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I have one is Overheating to thanks for the video am going to look it up and do it
The best fix for a PT Screwer is to lift up the radiator cap and slide another car underneath it.
What do you mean by this?

replace it..the car not the radiator.
thank's 🙂🙂🙂
Thank you
Change/flush radiator coolant every 3 years, regardless of miles.
I replace the whole engine cooling system every 7 years ! You can not let a pt cruiser overheat ever !
what video helped you fix the radiator?

I have a 05 cruiser that’s rpm is super high. Once I turn it on.
Check PCV valve for vacuum leak. Mine popped loose one day and RPMs shot up.

Most likely it will be , mine was the radiator it was clogged, order one online is not bad to change it , there is a video that shows how to change it
