- The long range 4 engine Airbus A340 might not remain in service for a long time with most of the airlines that operate the aircraft however pilots who fly it seem to love it. Here one Air Belgium Captain telling you why.

I never imagined listening to an airbus pilot in a cockpit joining the boeing vs airbus debate 😂😂😂 good stuff.
It‘s actually a nonsense debate. Both build beautiful planes such as Embraer or any other decent manufacturer does.
Same 😂😂
i flew on an a320 in July and visted the flight deck after the flight and the first thing the captain said to me is "much better cockpit then a boeing" XD
Looooooool
😂😂
Fantastic, this captain should be head of sales of Airbus. Great explanation of the systems and nice comparisons. Nineteen minutes really flew by like a rocket.
lufthansa captain piloteyes said the same for itself cuz he expl the a 380
I love this Captains passion for the A340, one of my favourites!
I also love his nose
Love the Airbus and especially the A340-300 and -600. Gonna miss these very much.
Philippine Airlines already retire their A340's last 2018, i think they're the last airline company here in asia to retire their A340's...
My friend was a pilot for Monarch flying the A320/A321.....he then moved onto British Airways flying the 747. He sadly passed away last year at 36 years of age. It was as if I was listening to him when the captain here is talking....he always used to say the Airbus with its space, tray table etc and having no yoke was a much nicer environment to fly in....RIP
"We have a dug onboard, and we have set temperature for his comfort!" - Love this!
Respect to this captain. Flew on 340-600 With qatar airways. Fantastic experience
That was absolutely fascinating Thanku so much lovely pilot have a wonderful day Love an God bless x
Interesting tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to show us the beautiful A340!
This guy is brilliant. 😂 Hope I get to fly on a 340 some time before they retire them all!
Gorgeous aircraft, thnx for posting.Great explanations by the Capt.
Truly awesome. Kudos to this captain!
Love A340! Very interesting and informative video. Thank you captain!
Thank you very much. An excellent overview of the system. Very informative and helpful.
What an absolutely brilliant video.
That's a nice informative video from a pilot who surely appreciates Airbus. Well done
Wonderful presentation!
awesome video!!
Very informative
The A340 remains my fav Airbus aircraft. I'm gonna miss them. Great vid.
Thank you so much for the beautiful invitation dated 22-09-2020 @ 3pm I wonder what exciting adventure you taking us to this time all aboard and looking forward to it thank you so much Just Planes stay safe fly safe land safe keep well happy and healthy
Very nice, I love this Cpt. 😆💪
That was very interesting. Thank you.
Very informative and fascinating!
Merci! That was Very Informative from the Pilots Point Of View!
Just love their videos 😁
Thank you for a great video, very informative. I've always loved the A340, beautiful plane and one of the safest! The crews also always seem to like the A340
You have a very nice route to fly as well Captain!
I could listen to him all day
Excellent content
That was super interesting!
Great information!
the a340-300 is my favourite aircraft. its so comfortable and quiet.
To me the 345 is the best of all Airbus.
Airbus a340.5
I love the A340! Especially the -500 & -600.
JP.....This Cool Captain give us a very pretty
presentation! Super! Thanks JP for filming this!
Waiting for the next video;) Greetings Betsy.
A340 is my favorite aircraft of all!
Indeed. x4 engines is safer then x2.
Excelente explicación de los instrumentos de la aeronave muchas gracias desde colonbia Carlos r
Nice Aircraft and Nice Pilot
Last time i flew on one was SXM-CDG
Kinda like the kai tak ascend. Turn right to avoid mountain range
Fantastic video, awesome pilot! A340 is like the middle child in the Airbus fleet, good to hear some +ve facts about her especially as she will be retired soon.
Actually the longest in the 340/600 variant.
I really LOVE how Toliss developers are dealing with that big bird in X-Plane 12
Would be great New Year / Christmas present to me
Super Video
Favourite plane! Had the privilege to work as a crew on the 330/340-300 family for the past year 😍 unfortunately it’s on its way out of the fleet bc of COVID a true cruise plane 😇
Excellent excellent aircraft!
Very nice video 👍
Nice perspective. I've only flown Boeings and Douglases, so I'd love to fly a modern Airbus before my career is done. The 767 is a brilliant machine IMO.
Brutally honest pilot!
I (a passenger) flew just once in a 340 and had a feeling that it is a trrible plane. I asled myself how pilots are not afaid to fly this plane. But this friendly captain, with his confidence in the aircraft and eye-opening explanations, has changed the picture completely.
What on Earth caused you to think that the A340 is somehow inherently dangerous? Most of the aircraft that the A340 competes with are 2 engined, versus the 4 engines (777, 787, 767). 4 Engines will always be statistically safer than 2 engines.
way to personify your own ignorance lol
I have always wanted to fly on an A340. I love the A340 and A380 and it is such a shame I haven't gotten to fly on either so far.
Love the a340
Awesome Cockpit presentation and I enjoy listening to this Captain go over why he loves this aircraft. When you hear them go into great detail and even points it out, you do learn a lot from it. Awesome pilot and an awesome video, I love it.
We flew on an A340 in 2003. I was really pleased with the aircraft. I have always like Boeing with the 767 being my favourite but really like the Airbus too. I have not been on the A350 or A380 yet. Been on all the basic Boeings except the 787.
The a380 is something else
... The B77 was certified before its first flight... 🤣
Certified by Boeing(?)
@@niilespunkari8832 - By the US FAA (with a good deal of government corruption and market inteference).
Boeing could certify their own aircraft. I don't know what happened after the Boeing 737MAX series tragedies thought
Cheekiness off the charts
Just had an Airbus A340-313 Lufthansa Star Alliance pass over me here in Maine. Frankfurt to San Jose.
I'm a fan of the A340-300 and 600 but I'm not a sidestick fan. It is definitely not a quick climbing aircraft but it's a great looking aircraft. I love the early 707's 727 737's . I'm awestruck at the 777-300ER it's an enormous and very well built aircraft. Great video thank you your videos never disappoint 👍 👌
Why do you not like the use of sidesticks? What negative aspects do you see? (Genuine question, as I can't think of one disadvantage).
@@droge192one big thing (which can be changed but airbus doesn't do it) is that the two pilots joysticks neither give you feedback of what the surfaces do, nor they are interconnected, so the copilot inputs are mirrored to the pilots joystick.
@@henriklmao I think it's hard to get feedback in a Fly-by-Wire system. But I agree with you.
@@viktorekman863Gulfstream already does with some of their jets
The biggest & newest version of the 777 is one beautiful jet. People have their preferences & there's things I like about A350s but the 777/300 is symetricly perfect, even w/ those huge motors!
The A340 and the A380 are the most comfortable airplanes in the sky
Lucky to have flown the A340-600 with Iberia
I am a big Boeing fan. I do like the A330 & A321
Thank you for all that info. For me it is nice to know, not must know. First time I flew the A-340 was LH from ATL-FRA in may 1994. I like the 340! In the meantime I have been working for SAS. The last time I flew the A-340 was in apr of 2010, FRA-RUH-DOH also LH. Great time in DOH. On the way back the LH flight was overbooked, so QR to the rescue! A A-330 via ARN, and SK to OSL. After landing at OSL they told us that all European airspace was closed due to a huge ash cloud from Island! Talk about luck... The airspace over Europe was closed for how long? Two weeks?
So civilised!! 🤣 Awesome explanation BTW. Loved the video.
That’s a very warm cabin. 25-26 degrees C
The best on on the pencil is that the toilet is in the cargobay when flying with Lufthansa.
Thanks for uploading a great video! I did not realize the difference in climbing performance between 747 and A340. Is there anyone who knows more about this?? I was so surprised to know A340 can reach high altitudes without losing fuel efficiency.
Im also surprised because i had always heard its a underpower airplane
@@ricardobordas2025 The A340 ss not underpowered, it's adequately powered for performance given the loss of an engine.
i love Boeing i like the cockpit designs and the yoke vs the joystick, i like the yoke for a large plane,, to me the joystick is better for smaller planes, but that being said, yeah the airbus is a nice plane, they are safe and efficient as hell
The size of the plane is not relevent to the use of a sidestick. The sidestick is used because it was found to be the best user interface on an aircraft with fly by wire control surface actuation.
Somebody stop this man! Absolute MADLAD
I prefer being a A340-300 passenger over B777. Much more comfortable.
omg, I wish I knew this captain he is very knowledgeable but also very funny...when he was talking about the tray, eating civilized on Airbus vs. Boeing eating on the knees, I lost my chicklet😂. yes and he's right too many "kha-boys" out there flying not right. Perfect video❤
Sounded like he was describing a VC10 a British designed and built airliner of the 1960/70s that was fast, quiet and comfortable only BOAC were in love with boeing
BOAC (British Overseas Airlines Corporation) .... now there's a blast from the past ! 🧐
The only thing I don't like about his video is because I still found competence. Otherwise, I agree the 340 is masterpiece of engineering
If its not a Boeing, I’m not going!
All kidding aside, I enjoyed the video and his love for the Airbus!
Haha, I remember my 13 year old self buying a blue pin with that quote at the Boeing Store.
It's so funny listening to an airbus pilot flexing about his tray table.
Grandpa A340 Grandpa Captain :)
👍🏻👍🏻
Fun guy :D
I love Airbus because of the sidestick which I prefer over a yoke but I don’t have any issues flying both. No hate on Boeing, I love being planes too, particularly the 747 and 787 for sure.
I didn't understand why an a340 can reach 39.000 ft directly and not a 747? Is it because engines overheat?
I love it ✈️😂😂😂😂
His AIRBUS cheque is in the post - as the expression used to be, before cheques and snail-mail went out of fashion. 😁
"One of the combustion chambers has a crack" DID I HEAR RIGHT???
No he was explaining what would happen if the temperature started to rise
Hope the Toliss A340 for Xplane gets these systems all correct
It will... I mean it's ToLiss right 😂
Which airline are you working for
I love flaeng
Yes, I love that too 😀.
A340 best plane ever made. No doubt about that.
747 might have something to say about that, its been around since 69 & will likely be used for transport another 40 yrs. I'd say that's pretty successful.
@@richardmorris7063 The 747 is legendary and beautiful no doubt.
The A340 never crashed and nobody died inside that model since 1991. The cockpit was/is also more modern ( expample: flybywire…)than any Boeing of the same Production date.
This captain just roasted an entire company in less than 10 minutes.... "You can eat civilised"
🖐️
What is AIrbur
If someone lights a cigarette on the bottom of the plane he will feel
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Airbus give him a cookie :D
Wow I have a table wow
:)
👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼👌🏼
This flight is from.air france?
Air Belgium
Hilarious 😂 ‼️
"boeing's a climb plane and 340 is a cruise plane, that's why its so efficient" yeah, I guess that's why the 340s are getting removed and 777s keep flying, airlines hates efficient planes :)
I flew for the 1st time with Gulf Air an A340-300 in 95 from Abu Dhabi to Larnaca. It was an amazing plane. Literally felt an entire city was lifting off. Its a dream plane to fly, very comfortable and so smoothly flying. No plane in the world will ever match the A340. Congratulations to all the team who created such a wonderful plane. Airplanes must have 4 engines for safety reasons but airlines are so greedy, they will even operate with only half an engine, if they can, to economise further and leaving safety of passengers to their last worries.
haha,,, the airbus vs boeing debate...never ends and always interesting to hear the pilots take....its like us talking about iPhone vs Android.... they will be bashing and a cult following for each!
Good point, and phone analogy. Yes, it's interesting to hear the pilots' opinion vis-à-vis 'Airbus v Boeing'.
I don't know about being compared to the latest Boeings but if you want a lighter workload, uncluttered cockpit, space, and a table then Airbus is the plane. From the beginning, the top engineer designed the planes to eliminate the "monkey business" of piloting the plane. Computers and fly by wire from day one. It took Boeing decades to modernize systems.
Love how he kerps beating Boeing eventhough I like Boeing
Very poor headset mic quality (blasting), even though it had a windshield - I don't think it was properly sitting on the mic.
