Carola Bauckholt (W.Germ.1959- ) a fine maxi-inventive minimalgamist to be sure... new to me I'm not sure - poss. yesterday on BBC R3 (something called "Carola" ?) but YT allows one to track other things unexpectedly in the trombone department did somebody mention Xenakis.... Fine fresh paint throwing just before the stirrup pump this is extraorinarily good stuff, well done C.B. I also like Zugvoegel...
Great composer. Simple as that. Because I like categories I'm going to refer to her style as "industrial." Xenakkis is the other composer who falls into this category for me. The fact that Buckholdt refrains from aleatory and straight ahead writes down every note is a major plus in my estimation.
On a very different musical front I have been listening to Per Norgaards 1st symphony and I left what I believed was an almost Captain Obvious remark about similarities - truth to tell outright quotes - to Shostakovich and not one reply, heck not even a thumbs down for my insight. I'm only a few minutes in on this piece but now that you have planted the seed...can still remember listening to Berios sinfonia and when Mahlers 2nd is literally piped in on tape I thought I would lose my mind.
@@stueystuey1962 well then you're welcome to leave a thumb ;) btw composers should quote far more often, it's at least a great way of finding out if people are still listening! And yeah, Berio is great!
This gets better every time I listen to it.
I bet it does !
one second taken besides the great composition to mention the damn brilliant portrait foto!

This is a brilliant soundtrack waiting for the right sci-fi / fantasy horror film to happen.
