Always disconnect negative cable first and reconnect last. A little crc 226 spray on the terminals and bolts will keep things dry, conductive and corrosion free.
TIP: when revoving the battery terminals, you always start with the Negative first. And when installing the battery terminals, you start with the Positive first. No shorts to ground should your wrench or ratchet make contact with the body aka ground. You heard it here, not on Rennlist. LOL And if you are backing up the system at the cigarette lighter to maintain codes and radio memory, you want to place a heavy sock over the Positive clamp for the entire process till it is ready to install on the Positive battery post. The Negative is not important. The Negative clamp cannot short to itself.
Great Video! It looked like you dropped the socket and not the nut, which could be just as bad. I usually place a piece of work shop towel (blue ones) or paper towel in the socket to help keep the nut in place, but you went a step further and dropped the socket...LOL! Question: How can you do the BMS if you don't have the M/N and S/N of the original battery? Thank you for all you do!
Why did you add the information from the old battery after the change? The BMS already has the info for the old battery. Seems to me you'd need to add the info from the new battery to the BMS, otherwise you're fooling the BMS and may experience premature battery failure as a result.
Hi, I followed your tuto to replace my battery 48/ 2015 almost 9 years ago I tried before to jump start with another battery same capacity or booster and it didn’t fly at all Don’t now why I bought a Banner battery same as OEM at 175€. And it took 45 mins I had to use the small key hidden in the remote key to open the car and my booster to jumpstart the frunt pole in the fuse box Weird rattle Motor noise but the car hasn’t been driven for 10 weeks and it seems I have to drive a bit to get hydraulic valves reset …. Will see
A tip to help prevent sockets and nuts dropping in hard to reach locations. Use some electrical (or similar) tape and tape the socket to the extension. You can also tape the nut into the socket.
How much did you pay for the tool? Add a disclaimer at the *beginning of the video. People need to know they cannot just swap any battery into the car without changing the BMS to match the battery going into the car. The cars shipped with 3 different batteries. You cannot install a AGM into a car that has a LiPo!! Without a tool to change the BMS. It will smoke the alternator. Same with LiPo to LeadAcid!
Watching a diy who’s a bit clumsy but successful is inspiring.
Shaky hands wins the day.
This is 100% why your videos are the best on UA-cam for the 991.2. Showing every step, the fumbles and all. Love it. Please keep it up!

Great video, thanks all set for putting my 991.2 into winter storage
Great video! Those magnetic pickers are awesome.

Thank you for all you do!
Why did you cover up the terminals with plastic, again?
Can you enter the new battery numbers instead? Why the old battery numbers?
great job with the video, very helpful, i am to replace battery for my Cayman gts 2018, thank you !!
Thank you for your great video!
So you almost got 8 years out of the original battery. Not bad since you live in FL. I am at 9 years and 4 months so far and still going in my 991.

Hello, thanks. when the COSTCO battery dies, does it have the required information on the barcode, etc. to update the BMS?
Just take a picture of the original and save it
