This is a very interesting concept. It’s something I think a lot about actually, how to improve at Starcraft. Rank wise I’ve plateaud but I know several things that I have improved at. It’s also true that just because someone is good at the game does not mean they are good at teaching. They are two different skills. People who are naturally good at the game may be unable to communicate what it is that is the mechanics and fundamentals in the game.

Agreed. I would consider myself a good coach & I think it's because I have a low natural skill (& other reasons, like patience). My original skill was Low-Silver & once I learned what to do better I understand what made me move from Silver to Gold to Plat, etc, etc. If I had Diamond as my natural skill I wouldn't understand how a Silver or Gold player struggles & I wouldn't have that experience.
I've also plateau'd, I've been in Masters for around 15000 games with no hope of reaching GM. Coaching is fun because people at lower skill levels can improve more quickly & it's really rewarding seeing someone drastically improve in a short amount of time after I coach them.

For sure, it's always strange to know you improved but you stay the same rank. Its definitely the growth vs results oriented mindset id say in that sense haha

@@SpiralBiscuit That's not what they were saying? They said they advanced from metal leagues not that they're currently metal league.

@@GracefulTrumpet Did I misunderstand something? I was saying that I'm not quite sure how I would go about coaching someone in that skill level as I've been decently far removed for some time now.
