Beelink is doing pretty well with these APU/DRAM configurations. With any mini PC, the major conflict is in providing appreciable power while keeping those temps under control--more so if that mini PC is using DDR5. That little fan Beelink puts on the DRAM/M.2 side of the motherboard, in my opinion, could be better designed: if you install an SSD, you block some of the airflow. That said, since their interest was in keeping things tight and tidy, I feel they've done about as well as anyone could expect. The rest of the formula is in keeping the power draw down (low TDP on the APU, and locking the DRAM at 4800MHz). I'm a DRAM lab tech by trade, and we've used Beelinks as test beds from time to time. They're really well-made and dependable platforms. Even though their present strategy somewhat hobbles the capabilities of the hardware they choose, their customers get a very hassle-free and dependable system. I'd wager that 99% of today's computer users would be beyond thrilled by what the SER6 can provide. As always, good review!
I really wish they could find a way to put that port in the back of the unit though for cleaner cable management. Otherwise, yes it serves a lot of purposes.

I would like to see mini PC manufacturer like Beelink here to embrace USB Type-C connector instead of proprietary barrel plug for the power supply unit. Of course the PSU here is 120W which is beyond the 100W limit for USB-C (the recent USB PD Revision 3.1 specification enable delivering up to 240W of power however).
Yes same! This has been my main gripe with a lot of new laptops. Why don't they use PD 3.1 instead of a shitty barrel plug? I wonder if it's a licensing issue.
is best to over spec power supplies - even above anticipated transient peak demands. If peak lad is 88 watts, to me a 100 watt limit is still not a sufficient margin - would definitely prefer the 120 watt margin.
I still dont get why Beelink and other manufacturers with this formfactor not just put a slim 120mm pressure optimized fan at the top to cool the system. Would get way better cooling and acoustics. thx for the look at it anyways!
If you do eGPU you should test both thunderbolt and m2 to full slot adapter since it's pcie 4.0. It does have a slot for sata SSD. Straight gaming you won't notice a difference with slower hd. Or use the thunderbolt port to m2 nvme adapter. When it comes to eGPUs the m2 slot will always be better.

All these old refreshed parts with the misleading "7000" series moniker.. Hmm. Can't wait for actual 7000 apu's (Phoenix) featuring Zen 4 and Rdna 3 combo.
Why would you want to plug in your monitor on the front of the computer or an ext gpu for that matter? Maybe most people are going to vesa mount this on the back of the monitor?
@@andrebrait I'm talking about RAM speed. We KNOW this APUs are greatly effected by Ram. DDR5 4800 and 6000 isn't referencing the "6000 series", it's the ram speed.
It's a "refresh" not a rebadge. They can tweak the actual design between refreshes. Since EDA tools used HDL programming languages they could literally completely replace IP blocks in some cases by swapping out a sub module source file like they did for the graphics between the 5800h and the 6800h.
In the future please include things like temperature, noise and linux compatibility. Even though not a lot of users pay attention to these they are certainly of interest to a small minority.
I don't think the author is reading the comments. I saw past comment requests on temperature for years in other videos on this channel but no response at all.
I'm excited for those too. Just remember the 7945HX has a very weak igpu so shouldn't be used alone for gaming! (like you mentioned with eGPU). It will be an awesome little video rendering machine though with 16 cores/32 threads.

Great for music production
Im hoping my old PC will survive a few more years but when it fails? One of these is top of my list for a replacement. Im sure it will do everything I want since all I do is UA-cam etc and Minecraft.
Waiting for 7040 series need to see improvement in those chip.
Would you be testing emulation on this PC via another video?
Hello, I live in France and I love watching your channel content. I'm waiting for the release of a mini PC with a Ryzen 7 7840HS but I would like to know one thing before deciding. What brand of mini PC would you recommend buying? Beelink or Minisforum?
All these old refreshed parts with the misleading "7000" series moniker.. Hmm. Can't wait for actual 7000 apu's (Phoenix) featuring Zen 4 and Rdna 3 combo.
Why would you want to plug in your monitor on the front of the computer or an ext gpu for that matter? Maybe most people are going to vesa mount this on the back of the monitor?
We need to see what the difference between DDR5 4800 and 6000 is.
Plus aren't they supposed to support higher speed lpddr5?
Hardly, the 3 in 35 in the model number denotes that this is Zen 3 (or 3+), so basically a rebadged 6800U or something.

I'm talking about RAM speed.
Nice review ETA PRIME,
would like to know if the ser6 mini pc able to connect mic? and can we record screen using the amd software?
I am waiting for RDNA 3 for sure. Its going to be awesome.
when does that come out
@@tonyto8384 Not sure but I would love RDNA 3 mini pc
Great video, ones we really want to see are the 7945HX (use with eGPU) or 7940HS with next gen iGPU
I'm excited for those too. Just remember the 7945HX has a very weak igpu so shouldn't be used alone for gaming! (like you mentioned with eGPU). It will be an awesome little video rendering machine though with 16 cores/32 threads.
I would like it if you'd use Nobara 36, instead of Manjaro. But I do understand the need to use the more popular Manjaro, and also so it compares to other "NUCs".
I love the intro music, is there a longer version?
