- John Frusciante - Hollywood Moguls 6/25/1998 "Neighborhood Threat" slideshow. Parking lot video featuring John Frusciante, Anthony Kiedis, Toni Oswald, Alain Johannes, Dave Lee, Ralph Paredes, Rawl Paredes, Danny Flores, Dick Rude and friends outside Moguls parking lot.
This was a benefit show called "Waiting for Iggy" a play by Toni Oswald.
John played "Neighborhood Threat" (heard on this video) and "China Girl".
Later that night Red Hot Chili Peppers played a 3 song set "Loose", "1970" and "Search and Destroy". I took the photos inside with a disposable 35mm camera, as I wasn't sure they would allow any recording devices into the club. I had taken a fairly large VHS camcorder with me, but left it in the car. I shot a little of the parking lot on video, never fully seen until this day.
I remember seeing a lot of video cameras inside, so I'm sure there is footage of this show caught on video....been hoping it would surface these past 24 years....nothing yet, so I figured I'd get this out there before it's forgotten or completely lost.
The recent Rick Rubin/John Frusciante Broken Record podcasts reminded me I had this footage in my archives. Also, Richard Alan White has been posting his archives of old footage he shot and thought it's time to release this to the fans.
The photos of John and I, and Danny Flores were shot after John's solo set and before Red Hot Chili Peppers set. There were about 2 or 3 acts in between them, all playing Iggy Pop songs. Bob Forrest and Keith Morris also played a set, Bob sang "Lust for Life".
It's so strange seeing this. He looks like he did in 1994 but MUCH healthier and happier.
Yet in the beginning scenes he also looks like his recent self (2023). This man's constant facial evolution is beyond comprehension.
What a hero 😊
Rare video 🤯
At this era 1998 he was so fragile.
Such a angel! ❤️💫🙏🏻
🙏🙏💖
Weird to see footage of John Frusciante during his transitional period.
Fuck this man went deep , even after recovery he still looks Ghostly man went deep into the abyss
It's crazy to think how different he was four years ago till this recorded footage of him in '98, wow
This is some old footage of John I've never seen. Good find thumbs up
I could've sworn I heard Flea shout out to Anthony at 2:54 lol - it sounds too much like him. Thanks for this it's incredible footage of a period we all wish had been more documented ;)
lol i thought the same thing
Yes, that does sound like him. I'm sure it was, he stuck his head out, just not on camera.
WOW! This is so amazing! Thank you so much for sharing with all of us! I'm always interested in seeing these video footages from the period John came back with the Chilis (for the first time). These videos and photos are so precious! Thanks again for sharing! :)

Amazing. I've been hoping this footage would come out, as I saw a screen grab of this parking lot video a few years back. Thanks for releasing it. Do you have the audio from the gig? the whole JF set and RHCP set?
Hi, thanks. Yes I have the entire show on CD, it's been released before, so I'm sure you can find it. What I've not seen or heard is the other bands set. My CD has Bob Forrest and Keith Morris set as well.

It's cool when john did it and recovered, its just pathetic when someone tries to recreate that
so fucking pathetic to emulate basically killing yourself with drugs and pretending to be deep
