Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah 'TWIN' | Live Studio Session

- New Orleans trumpeter Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah has a new record out. It’s called ‘Stretch Music,’ which is a perfect title. Not only does Christian stretch the idea of ‘jazz’ over all genres of music with this release, he also stretches how a record can be heard.
Members of Christian's sextet are Braxton Cook on alto sax, Lawrence Fields on piano, Kris Funn on bass, Corey Fonville ondrums and Dominic Minix on guitar.
Head to KNKX.org to listen to the entire performance and learn more about the artist.

Issa Rae's movie "The Photograph" brought me here. Such a smooth, sensual, and soulful beat.
Christian Scott is synonymous with musical evolution.
These young cats are going to take jazz music to the next dimension.
I Think they have already..
This theme is a masterpiece, it's just some few years old and it's already a classic. Phenomenally performed! Very glad to be part of this generation!
He's putting all trumpeters on notice!
Oh man, someone to take it forward. Blessed to have seen him perform.
My GOD this makes my soul so happy. I can listen to this all day ❤️
this is better than the version on the album...but the best is the Tiny desk performance
Agreed!
Yes I can't figure out why the album sounds atrocious. Please don't get me wrong, I bought the CD a second time.
@@Narikeljinjira glad it’s not just me. The album sounds so washed out and lifeless, it’s a real shame because the band and the tunes are absolutely killer
@@Narikeljinjira I’m pretty sure it’s due to the meaning of the song. He wanted to show his life experience being a twin and did that on the album by playing two different times. You obviously can’t play two trumpets at once so in the live versions the other part is usually played by another instrument.
There is something about this song and performance that makes me feel the joy I feel with Ornette Coleman. It has a uniquely beautiful quality. Like a modern work of art.
This song brings me so much life
One of the new Young Lions of jazz.
Musique dynamisante , spirituelle aussi. C’est qui a dit que la musique est un peu qui pense . Victor Hugo bien sur !
Bravo et merci.
for me TWIN is the best track of the new CD
bit I prefer the version with the female flutist ... I don't remember her name ...
elena pinderhughes
I know she is Elena Pinderhughes, she's very good on playing this track with Christian Scott
Actually she doesn't play this track this track is like a trumpet duet, the version w/ Elena Pinderhughes is in the NPR Tiny Desk Concert
You said you don't remember her name, then they remind you then you say I know it's Elena, come on bro instead of saying thanks for being reminded you turn into that, yeses people like you are something else
That moment when this song reminds me of Germany because when I was there, I listened to it everyday.
so much energy, this piece speaks a lot to my soul....mad

I just LOOOOOVEEEE this. I never connected it with the title, tho. It sounds like a 'contemplative' something. I gotta read the story behind it.

Why is the bass always so low in the mix?
cuz sound engineers don't know how to mix acoustic bass.

Where can I find sheet music for this?
djembe or unusual snare?
+Юрий Пушкарев No, it´s the Remo Mondo snare.
Unfortunately, the bass was completely lost in the mix. :-( Kinda ruins the whole thing. What a shame.

Am I the only one who's hearing a lot of radiohead in his music?
Uhmmm
He's played songs by them and Thom Yorke, I guess your instincts are justified.
Definitely found that too, while listening to the piano parts mostly.
Which model drum kit is that... oh my god beautiful
