Now look at the shit going on. Ridiculous improvements and to think in another decade people are going to be even doing more?!?! There's literally a Hollywood 16 video showing some of the dopest tricks down the stairs and the rail and the majority of those tricks were done more than 10 years ago. That's just one spot. You never heard of the clipper ledge? Darrell Stanton and many others killed that bigass ledge 15 plus years ago. El Toro's been hit so many times. Your way off. Eric koston did a tre-flip to noseblunt down a handrail back in 2003. These are just a few examples. Your tripping lol.
I think that Guys that Skate like they have a cast on both arms is Cool. Especially if you see someone actually do it. If that balance center makes the trick, so be it. I would say cuz companies turn skaters "pro" due to marketability and hype around their name now. Not to say they can't skate but the technical tricks or big skating isn't a factor really as much anymore to go pro.
I feel like the explanation can be simplified- are you paid to skate? You're a pro skater. Not paid? You're an amateur. There are nuances but I feel like these definitions also let us get at the core question of why some amateurs do so well- like any profession, pro skaters can have burnout, and the stakes for a bad session, or even an injury, are way higher for someone who skates to pay rent versus someone who does it purely because they love it. Obviously anyone who goes pro in their sport (if you wanna call skating a sport)loves it, at least for a good bit of the time, and as such reached that level- but that doesn't mean they'll never compete at times they really don't want to or aren't in the best condition.
